Lancia at the 2013 Geneva International Motor Show

Lancia is back at the Geneva Motor Show with a stand full of charm and elegance that highlights the new automotive dynasty that contains the best of two industrial cultures: the exuberant style, flair for delivering a “stress-free experience” and functionality all associated with Chrysler, coupled with the elegance, innovation and love of manufacturing that have always distinguished Lancia.

It is precisely the “dual spirit” theme inborn in the union between Lancia and Chrysler that is the concept around which the exhibition area is set up, breathing life into a sinuous motion of expressive shapes and languages. This stimulating stand lets the public discover one of the widest ranges on the international scene. It starts with segment B (Ypsilon), continues with the mid-sized segment (Delta), and is completed with the flagship (Thema), the Large MPVs (Voyager) and the alluring segment D convertibles (Flavia).

Stars of the stand are the Ypsilon S MOMODESIGN and Delta S by MOMODESIGN, the new special series created from the renewed collaboration of two Italian brands world-renowned for having contributed to the development of Italian design. Extraordinary symbiosis which unites Lancia’s refined and elegant style with the technological, sports drift that identifies the iconic character of the Milanese brand. Lancia and MOMODESIGN have created a highly personal formal language which makes, without hesitation, their creation amongst the many designer products highly recognisable. Examples of this extraordinary Italian design are the exclusive products and accessories designed and manufactured by MOMODESIGN Centro Stile: ranging from helmets, watches, eyewear and shoes to luggage. They are all unique fashion products, just as Lancia’s ‘creations’ are so unique, Two models with a forceful personality, interpreted by the MOMODESIGN Style Center in keeping with its hi-tech, contemporary style, also appreciated by young people.

Both expressions of top Italian style, the Ypsilon S MOMODESIGN and Delta S by MOMODESIGN play with colour contrasts, emphasise the value of detail, offer elegant interiors and express an energetic and dynamic personality. They are cars of enormous appeal, consistent with the innovation and sportiness that have historically distinguished the Lancia brand.

On the stand the public will have the chance to admire a Delta S by MOMODESIGN, a 190 HP 1.9 Twinturbo MultiJet, with the new two-colour Anthracite Grey with Eclipse Black roof paintwork. The brilliant engine fitted to it reaches a top speed of 222 km/h and lets you accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds. An Ypsilon S MOMODESIGN equipped with the 69 HP 1.2 Fire EVO II engine and distinguished by an exclusive two-tone Zaffiro Blue/Matt Black body is also on show on the stand.

But the innovations of Lancia Ypsilon do not stop here. Also the new Elefantino special series, the most accessible choice for a young and dynamic customer, is making its début in a world premiere. A little lucky charm, the Elefantino is a symbol of loyalty and charm inextricably linked to the brand. In fact, in 1953 it was precisely Gianni Lancia, son of the company founder Vincenzo, who chose this animal as the badge of the emerging Lancia racing team engaged in competitive sports. This symbol reappeared from 1997 to 2003 on the new Lancia Y – in the various Blue, Red and Blues variants – with more than 320,000 units sold, 45% of the mix of total registrations of the model.

Today the Elefantino is back on the new Ypsilon 5-door, making this successful model accessible also to younger customers. It is a car that stands out with its line and unique personality. As the performance of the new Ypsilon Ecochic Methane is unique. On sale since January 2013, it combines the economical and ecological advantages of methane fuel with the lively performance and driving fun at the wheel guaranteed by the 80 HP 0.9 TwinAir Turbo engine.

Elefantino, MOMODESIGN and Ecochic: the new versions of the fashion city car which in 2013 will be part of ‘urban metamorphosis’, the creative concept that distinguishes the all-new Lancia communication campaign for TV, radio, press and web. The new Ypsilon versions will gleam on the road as they populate unexpected stories hanging between dream and reality, where fantastic and alluring creatures will make their appearance in an urban, modern context. Surreal images, but realisable in Lancia’s world.

Completing Lancia’s exhibition in Geneva are the Voyager, Flavia and Thema, the first three models resulting from the alliance between the new Lancia and the new Chrysler, which perfectly express the values shared by the two brands that by now have become a single identity with their elegance, technological innovation, century-old history and desire to excel in the future.

Lancia Voyager is the benchmark of the large MPV segment and the perfect expression of space shared between emotion and travel experience. In addition to the new ‘Maximum Steel Metallic’ body colour, the 2.8 common rail turbo diesel engine in the unprecedented 178 HP (131 kW) version is also making its début in Geneva. Combined with a six-speed automatic gearbox, it takes the Voyager to a top speed of 193 km/h with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 11.5 seconds. All this with fuel consumption that in the type-approval combined cycle stand at 7.9 l/100 km with CO2 emissions equal to 207 g/km.

Space is also given over to the Lancia Flavia, which is being confirmed as the quintessence of open-air driving pleasure with its four real seats. Equipped with its brilliant 170 HP 2.4 litre petrol engine and a six-speed automatic gearbox, the new vehicle is the perfect solution for customers looking for the advantages of a coupé without compromising on the unique sensations only a convertible can bring.

A model of the Lancia Thema Platinum in the grey shade of “Granite Crystal” is displayed beside the charming Flavia. It is the first global flagship that blends the expertise and functionality of the Chrysler brand with the luxury of real leather interiors, the hushed silence of a great Lancia and the care for details that are the best expression of the “Made in Italy” concept.

Finally, the public will be able to admire the commercials of a new 2013 campaign designed by the Armando Testa agency for Lancia on the big screen of the stand, distinguished by the themes relating to the creative ‘urban metamorphosis’ concept. Some exclusive MOMODESIGN designer accessories can be admired in attractive showcases.

Last but not least, visitors will be introduced to the products of FGA Capital, a finance company specialising in the automotive segment, through illustrative materials and certain dedicated publications handed out at the stand. The finance company is operative in all the major European markets, and in Switzerland with Fidis Finance, with a sole mission: to support the sales of all Fiat Group Automobiles brand vehicles by offering innovative financial products with high added value services targeted to the dealership network, private customers and companies.

Last but not least, on the occasion of the Geneva Motor Show 2013, Lancia presents a new version for iPad of ‘Lancia Everywhere’, the mobile customer care application produced in collaboration with Seac02 and Angelini Design. Encouraged by the success demonstrated by over 20,000 downloads from smartphone users, today the application takes a leap into the world of tablets with a restyled design, which is even more stylish and glamorous, in perfect Lancia style. The number one multilingual project in the Fiat Group, the new-look ‘Lancia Everywhere’ offers new ‘digital addicted’ technological solutions that make the transitions, browsing and the features especially dynamic and usage even more immediate. In addition, for this occasion, the WEB magazine ‘Lancia TrendVisions’ is débuting the iPad version dedicated to the ‘Lancia Everywhere Tablet’ application. Specifically, the home page is structured with a ‘moodboard’ format to allow users to browse through the news in the 7 categories with a new interactive way of browsing through the images. Some of the most successful and popular contents include the Up&More contest which every month sees a designer object up for grabs: having started in October 2012 and ending in October 2013, the contest has witnessed the registration of over 2,000 participants so far.

The novelties of the new Ypsilon 5-door, the only fashion city car on the market

Designed for young, metropolitan and fashion-conscious customers, the new Lancia Ypsilon faces 2013 with a renewed range that grows with the methane/petrol 80 HP Turbo TwinAir engine and two special series: Elefantino, the most accessible choice for a young and dynamic customer, and the exclusive S MOMODESIGN, the ideal solution for more sophisticated customers that require more contents associated with comfort, personalisation and special attention to details.

The three style innovations complete the offer of the only Fashion City Car of the market, a model which encounters ever growing success both with the public and with critics, as demonstrated by the approximately 65,000 registrations from its launch to date. In addition, with a share of 10.4% in the B segment, in 2012 the Lancia Ypsilon was the third best-selling car in Italy, while in Europe the Ypsilon family grew 65% in terms of sale with the introduction of the 5-door version.

S MOMODESIGN special series

The new Ypsilon 5-door further enriches its offer to young people looking for a car with sporty look and competitive positioning with the S MOMODESIGN version. Introduced on all European markets in the second half of 2013, the new special series stands out on the outside with its aesthetic and chrome touches that reflect the motifs of products created by MOMODESIGN.

Customers can customise their own special series by choosing from among five two-tone versions, all distinguished by Matte Black for the tailgate, roof and door mirrors that perfectly match the body painted in Neve White, Vulcano Black, Argilla Red, Pietra Grey or the new Zaffiro Blue. The livery of the Ypsilon S MOMODESIGN is completed by the new rear bumper with chrome-plated elements and new design, door handles in body colour and white “MOMODESIGN” graphics on the central post and on the original black 15″ alloy wheels (16″ matte black as optional).

The same sporty feel is found in its interiors, where the passenger compartment trimmed in dark colours blends perfectly with the black high-tech ‘sail’ fabric with grey stitching for door panels, dashboard and specific seats, with ‘MOMODESIGN’ graphics stamped with electric welding, and black leather that covers the steering wheel and gear lever gaiter. A touch of elegance is provided by burnished components that enhance the dashboard while the sporty look of the new car is confirmed by the yellow colour of the instruments.

With a line stating strong personality and elegance, the new Ypsilon S MOMODESIGN can be equipped with the 69 HP 1.2 Fire EVO II, 69 HP 1.2 Fire EVO II LPG, 85 HP 0.9 TwinAir (matched with mechanical or robotised sequential gearboxes) and 95 HP turbo diesel 1.3 MultiJet II engine versions. Each one has different qualities, but all are accompanied by gearboxes that at some stage are defined by their generosity and lively temperament, and also by their high performance levels and sophisticated technology. Among standard qualities, instead, are great reliability and respect for the environment.

Original styling and outstanding performance are standard features on the Lancia Ypsilon S MOMODESIGN. That’s without mentioning the full list of content offered as standard: manual climate control, door opening remote control, height- and reach-adjustable leather steering wheel, electric front windows, 50/50 split rear seat, height-adjustable driver seat, radio with MP3-CD player and heated rear window. In terms of safety, ABS with EBD, ESP complete with ASR and Hill Holder, front and side airbags, and also the Isofix attachments are offered standard (depending on the markets).

Elefantino special series

With the Elefantino special series the new Lancia Ypsilon 5-door confirms its vocation of young and unconventional car, able to anticipate the needs of the public and make itself the trend. Little lucky charm, symbol of loyalty, respect and charm, the elefantino marks the tailgate next to the Ypsilon logo, embellishing the ‘signature’ of the car.

The new ‘entry level’ of the range and an alternative to the Silver version, the unprecedented trim level addresses a younger audience that prefers contents connected to the ‘metropolitan’ style as the refined body colours demonstrate – the new Turquoise (available from June 2013), Sabbia Beige, Neve White, Pietra Grey and the brand-new two-tone Turquoise/Vulcano Black (available from June) – the door mirror covers with specific graphics, body coloured door handles and the original coloured wheel hub caps.

In keeping with the informal soul of the new Ypsilon Elefantino, a single casual interior is available for all exterior shades, where the leather steering wheel, chrome-plated finishes of the dashboard and black fabric seats with turquoise or fuchsia stitching (the same also found on the gear lever gaiter and headrests), combined with door mirror covers, hub caps and rear ‘Elefantino‘ logo, stand out. Finally, the tone-on-tone stickers on the central posts and the characterisation of the dashboard and seats draw on the ‘metropolitan’ style with graphics dedicated to European cities.

Available with all the engine versions combined with manual gearboxes, the new version will be launched in the second quarter 2013. The basic system includes door opening remote control, leather gear knob and steering wheel (height and depth-adjustable), electric front windows, 50/50 split rear seat, height-adjustable driver seat, 15″ steel wheels, interiors in technical fabric with fitted electro-welded seams, radio set-up and heated rear window. In terms of safety, ABS with EBD, ESP complete with ASR and Hill Holder, front and side airbags, and also the Isofix attachments are offered standard (depending on the markets).

The Elefantino symbol is inextricably linked to the brand. In fact, in 1953 it was Gianni Lancia, son of the founder’s company Vincenzo, chose this animal as badge of the emerging Lancia racing team engaged in competitive sports. This symbol reappeared from 1997 to 2003 on the new Lancia Y – in different Blue, Red and Blues variants – with more than 320,000 units sold, 45% of the mix of total registrations in the model. Today the charming Elefantino is back on the new Ypsilon 5-door, making this successful model accessible also to younger customers so they can distinguish themselves by driving a car with a unique line and personality.

Ecochic, the new dimension of eco-friendliness according to Lancia

Ypsilon Ecochic Methane is the new minimal environmental impact version, which combines the economical and ecological advantages of methane fuel with the power and driving fun of a 80 HP 0.9 TwinAir Turbo engine.

The new methane powered car expands the current Ecochic range made up of the Musa, Delta and Ypsilon models, able to combine the elegance typical of Lancia’s cars with the ecology and lower running costs of the LPG/petrol and petrol/methane fuel systems. It is no coincidence that the Ecochic LPG version contributed to the excellent sales results, reaching 50% of total Lancia Ypsilon sales.

Available in the Silver and Gold trim levels, the Lancia Ypsilon Ecochic Methane is fitted out with the first methane-powered turbocharged ‘twin-cylinder’ on the market. It ensures reduced CO2 (86 g/km) levels and low consumption (3.1 kg/100 km on the type-approved combined cycle) with its methane fuel system. That’s without mentioning that running on methane ensures costs per kilometre which are much lower than petrol versions, so much so that it is possible to cover double the mileage for the same fuel cost. For example, less than 12 € is needed in Italy to fill the methane tank (about 12 kg, equivalent to 72 litres at 200 bar pressure). Then, thanks to its double tank, total range (methane+petrol) on the combined cycle is 950 km.

But the advantages of methane don’t stop at fuel consumption. In addition to the purely economic aspects, methane-powered cars ensure benefits for the environment since natural gas does not emit particulates, and its nitrogen oxide emissions are around 90 per cent lower than diesel while, compared to petrol, unburnt hydrocarbon levels are 75 per cent lower, nitrogen oxide emissions are around 50 per cent lower and CO2 emissions are reduced by 23 per cent. These are the reasons why methane fuelled vehicles are given free access in town centres with traffic limitation restrictions in force for environmental reasons. To sum up, with less expense, less pollution and greater mobility, methane is becoming an ever cleaner and more economical fuel.

Ypsilon Ecochic Methane is a smart solution, especially today with the price of petrol and diesel constantly on the rise. All this made even more interesting and profitable by generous standard equipment which, depending on outfitting and the market where it is sold, includes climate control system, ESC complete with ASR and Hill Holder, electric door mirrors, electric front windows, radio CD-MP3 and Castiglio® upholstery.

Model in brief

Proving it is the ‘Fashion City-Car’ par excellence, the new Lancia Ypsilon 5-door keeps on charming with its character, its sophisticated style and its anti-conventional class. And below this refined exterior, marked “Made in Italy”, lies all the substance of a car that boasts cutting-edge technology which not only delivers reduced emissions and fuel consumption – thanks to technologies such as TwinAir, MultiJet II and Start&Stop – but also offers benchmark comfort thanks to highly valuable content.

Suffice it to say that it is the first and only car in its segment to offer an exclusive combination made up of the brand-new “Blue&Me-TomTomLIVE” and “Smart fuel” system”, in addition to the innovative second-generation Magic Parking, 500 W 360° Hi-Fi Music system, Xenon headlights and LED taillights. These are precisely the features that customers most appreciate when using the new Lancia Ypsilon on a daily basis, the same qualities which have led it to be awarded prestigious prizes by motorists and influential panels made up of specialised journalists.

Today the Ypsilon range counts three trim levels (Silver, Gold and Platinum), two special series (Elefantino and S MOMODESIGN), five engine versions (1.2 Fire EVO II 69 HP, 1.2 Fire EVO II LPG 69 HP, 0.9 TwinAir 85 HP and 1.3 MultiJet II 95 HP turbo diesel), two gearboxes (manual and robotised), 24 body colours (eleven of which are two-tone), three interior types (fabric, Castiglio and leather), five alloy rims (15″ diamond alloy rims, diamond black alloy rims, 16″ diamond alloy rims, 16″ diamond burnished alloy rims, matte black 16″ alloy rims).

Delta, the beauty of space

The Lancia Delta introduced at the Geneva International motor show of 2008 has once again chosen the prestigious Swiss show to present the special ‘S by MOMODESIGN’, a concrete example of how an “automotive object” can be reinterpreted in an aesthetic key by the MOMODESIGN Style Center, highlighting the expressive features that have always distinguished Lancia – elegance and temperament- combining the fierce and distinctive attitude of the Brand from Milan, expression of Italian style and design Those same features distinguish the Delta Turbo LPG that, according to the ‘Bi-fuel. Be Ecochic’ principle, ensures an innovative concept in the world of eco-friendly cars: exclusive, but accessible; spacious, but compact; full of life, but economical.

‘S by MOMODESIGN’ special series

On sale from March 2013, the new Lancia Delta S by MOMODESIGN is a perfect answer for a male metropolitan customer looking for distinctive style. Born from the successful co-operation with MOMODESIGN, the new version further enhances the great personality of the model by proposing a number of esthetic and chromatic interventions that reflect the stylistic features of the products designed by MOMODESIGN Centro Stile.

On the outside, the Lancia Delta S by MOMODESIGN is distinguished by some bold aesthetic features: side skirts and bumper in the same shade as the body, Ecochrome finishes, burnished headlights,18″ rims, twin chrome exhaust tail pipe, gloss black tailgate. In addition, on the new version two new colours are making their début – the metallic Anthracite Grey and Anthracite Grey/Eclipse Black two-tone – that will be added to the available colours for this new version: Zenith White, Magma Black and the Zenith White/Eclipse Black two-tone.

The same stylistic elegance has been given to the interior, enhanced by the gloss black central console, Ecochrome inserts (excluding outlets), yellow tachometer and specific seats in leather and ballistic fabric. All this is made even more interesting by the generous standard equipment, including cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate control, electrically operated mirrors and, on request, the rear arm rests and the Blue & Me system can be added.

Available with the 120 HP 1.6 MultiJet, 120 HP 1.4 TurboJet LPG, 190 HP 1.9 Twinturbo MultiJet and 120 HP 1.4 TurboJet engine versions, the new Delta S by MOMODESIGN is a concrete example of how an ‘automotive object’ can be reinterpreted in an aesthetic key by the MOMODESIGN Style Center , highlighting the expressive features that have always distinguished Lancia-elegance and temperament- combining the fierce and distinctive attitude of the Brand from Milan, expression of Italian style and design .

In particular, the engine that best enhances the sporting soul of the new S by MOMODESIGN special series is the 1.9 Twin Turbo MultiJet, the engine at the top of its category with a maximum power of 190 HP and maximum torque of 400 Nm at 2,000 rpm/min. This gives rise to record-breaking performance with the maximum speed of 222 km/h and 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 7.9 seconds.

Outstanding performance is achieved through major new engineering features, beginning with the adoption of two turbochargers (hence the name Twin Turbo): one compact and low inertia to guarantee a prompt and vigorous response from the lowest speeds and a larger one to provide more power.

Interesting, until now, the high power delivery (approximately 100 HP/litre) has been a rating exclusively reserved for out-and-out sporty petrol engines. Even more appealing is that it comes with no less than 300 Nm of torque at just 1250 rpm: this makes the 1.9 Twin Turbo MultiJet extremely responsive to all the driver’s requests for a truly satisfying driving experience in all situations.

Ecochic, the only Turbo LPG engine in its category

The Delta Turbo LPG belongs to the Ecochic range – today made up of the Ypsilon and Musa models – according to the ‘Bi-fuel. Be Ecochic’ principle, the new dimension of eco-friendliness according to Lancia. And thus an innovative concept in the world of eco-friendly cars has been devised: exclusive, but accessible; spacious, but compact; full of life, but economical.

Available in three different trim levels (Steel, Silver and Gold) and on the S by MOMODESIGN special series, the Lancia Delta LPG Ecochic Turbo is equipped with the Euro 5-compliant 120 HP 1.4 Turbo bi-fuel engine that boasts top of category performance and running costs. Specifically, with maximum power of 120 HP (88 kW) at 5000 rpm and with a maximum torque of 206 Nm (21 kgm) at 1750 rpm, the Ecochic version reaches a top speed of 195 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.8 seconds.

Unlike a “transformation” in the aftermarket, the 120 HP 1.4 LPG Turbo engine has been totally redesigned for integration of the LPG system by using specific materials and components and applying dedicated technology. Moreover, the LPG system is factory-fitted for maximum reliability and integration (each car is certified, tested and guaranteed by Lancia and, as such, can take advantage of the government incentive schemes in various European countries).

Designed to run independently on either petrol or LPG, the 120 HP 1.4 Turbo bi-fuel engine is always started up on petrol and switches automatically to LPG after about 40 seconds. It is of course possible to switch from one fuel to another whilst driving by pressing a special button built into the dashboard. If the driver finds there is no LPG left in the cylinder, switching to petrol operation takes place automatically to ensure a smooth drive. Its overall range is impressive: 1411 km.

The model in brief

Lancia Delta fulfils the modern requirements of mobility and prestige thanks to the concept of “downsizing”, i.e. ensuring performance and luxury of a superior level at reduced cost, size and fuel consumption levels. In fact, in 2008 the model heralded a new concept, bringing the attributes of a flagship to segment C. Its 4.5 metres pack in all the luxury and interior space of a higher category: the seats recline into chaise-longues, the upholstery reveals quality textures and passengers are cocooned by an almost magical comfort and silence on every journey.

The passenger compartment is a genuine lounge – the model is at the top of its segment for rear passenger room – in part thanks to a sliding rear seat with reclining backrest (it can be tilted to 25°) that allows the already spacious boot (380 litres, 465 with the sliding rear seats, 724 litres with the rear seats folded) to be extended. Alternatively, the seat can be pushed back and tilted for total relaxation. Interestingly, the Lancia Delta is the only hatchback saloon to offer the possibility of adjusting the rear seat backrest and sliding the seat. Lastly, fitted as standard with the Platinum trim level is the exclusive Executive rear seat which offers the same comfort as a business-class seat on an intercontinental flight.

Marketed in the major European markets (in Great Britain and Ireland with the Chrysler brand), the 2013 Lancia Delta range offers, depending on the country, five trim levels (Steel, Silver, Gold, Platinum and the S by MOMODESIGN special series), seven engine versions (120 HP 1.4 TurboJet, 140 HP 1.4 Turbo MultiAir S&S, 200 HP 1.8 Di TurboJet, 105 HP 1.6 MultiJet, 120 HP 1.6 MultiJet, 190 HP 1.9 Twinturbo MultiJet and 120 HP 1.4 TurboJet LPG) combined with three gearboxes (6-speed manual, Sportronic 6-speed automatic/sequential and robotised/sequential 6-speed Selectronic), as well as 36 body colours – among which 25 two-tone – and seven 16”, 17” and 18” alloy wheels.

One of the many innovative contents is the “Absolute Handling System” (evolution of ESP) that guarantees perfect control of the car and optimises its stability in all driving conditions. Other functions are DST (Driving Steering Torque), automatically correcting electronic active steering system and LTF (Linearization Torque Feedback) and TTC (Torque Transfer Control) for better control of the car on corners.

And there’s more. The “Driving Advisor” system warns when unintentionally driving close to the edge of the lane; the “Reactive Suspension System” is an electronic shock absorber control device designed to decrease oscillations of the car body on all types of roads to increase comfort, safety and handling (the system ensures perfect wheel-road contact and decreases the stopping distance of the car by 5%), and the “Magic Parking” assist system helps the driver to locate a parking spot suited to the car and then prepares the parking manoeuvre by turning the steering wheel automatically.

The state-of-the-art equipment on the Lancia Delta includes “Instant Nav”, the next-generation navigation system with 6.5 inch colour screen which integrates USB port, voice commands and management of the maps on SD cards in a single device. The “Navteq Map Care” program can be used to automatically download map updates.

Lancia Voyager, emotions to share

Lancia Voyager is the benchmark of the large MPV segment and the perfect expression of space shared between emotion and travel experience. Depending on the market, the Lancia Voyager range is made up of three trim levels (Silver, Gold and Platinum) and two engines: the new 178 HP 2.8L Euro 5 turbo diesel and the 283 HP 3.6L V6 Pentastar petrol engine.

Début of the new 178 HP 2.8 L

The 2.8 common-rail turbodiesel engine with the unprecedented 178 HP (131 kW) version is making its début on the Lancia Voyager. The engine is distinguished by a particularly favourable fuel supply system due to the maximum torque of 360 Nm available over a very extensive operating range (from 1,400 to 3,400 rpm), offering greater flexibility and responsiveness in any driving condition. The four-cylinder engine with four valves per cylinder and dual overhead camshaft with belt control is equipped with a high pressure 1,800 bar common rail injection system with piezo injectors and a variable geometry turbocharger.

Other features of the new Lancia Voyager 178 HP 2.8 turbodiesel are the new intake manifold made of composite material with electronic turbulence control, an EGR exhaust gas recirculation system, reduced friction O-rings, oil and exhaust gas temperature sensors, diesel particle filter (DPF) and further adjustments to reduce noise, vibrations and rigidity (NVH) and to guarantee improved driving comfort. The Lancia Voyager 178 HP 2.8 turbodiesel reaches 193 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 11.5 seconds. Its fuel consumption on the type-approved combined cycle is 7.9 l/100 km while CO2 emissions are 207 g/km.

New ‘Trailer Sway Damping’ system as standard

The 2013 Lancia Voyager range offers the innovative ‘Trailer Sway Damping’ as standard in addition to the new metallic ‘Maximum Steel’ and ‘Billet Silver’ colours. A potentially dangerous oscillation can occur in all towing situations. The electronic Trailer Sway Damping system is designed to detect sudden movements of the trailer and helps to correct the situation.

The system uses the sensors of the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) to recognise when the vehicle and/or trailer start to move out of alignment without the movement being caused by steering input. The system applies a braking pressure on the wheels at the opposite ends of the vehicle and can adjust the throttle valve to contribute toward elimination of the skid and maintain the stability of the vehicle and trailer. Therefore, with the Lancia Voyager a caravan or trailer can be towed in total safety thanks to the new ‘Trailer Sway Damping’ system (standard on every trim level).

The model in brief

A wealth of standard equipment is common to all trim levels, including 17″ alloy wheels and roof rails (black on the Gold trim level and chrome-plated on the Platinum trim level), while the front and rear seats upholstered in top quality leather stand out inside the passenger compartment (the heating function and electrically-controlled adjustment are also offered on the Gold and Platinum trim levels). The steering wheel with audio controls and gear lever knob are also upholstered in leather.

The interior of the Voyager has been conceived as a cosy and comfortable living room. It is both sturdy and flexible owing to the Stow’n Go system which is standard on the entire range. Patented by Chrysler, the system allows the second and third rows of seats to be stowed away inside the floor, providing a record capacity of 4,100 litres. One distinguishing feature of the Platinum trim level is the possibility of folding down the third row seats with an electric control.

Completing the standard equipment of the new Lancia Voyager, depending on the trim level and the market, are more than 40 active and passive safety features (ESC, 6 airbags, cruise control, fog lights, automatic headlights, Blind Spot and Cross Path detection and active pedestrian protection). There are also many contents that guarantee maximum comfort on board and travelling pleasure, including the automatic three-zone climate control system, electric adjustments of seats and pedals, and the U-ConnectTM hands-free system with iPod/MP3 that integrates the navigation function and the rear camera for parking assistance.

The door mirrors (heated), side doors and tailgate are also electrically adjustable. The audio system with nine speakers, a subwoofer and up to 506 W of total power is standard on the Platinum trim level. Even when it comes to music performance, the Lancia Voyager has everything it takes to accompany every trip with all the thrills you want.

Finally, the Lancia model is available with two engines that offer engineering and performance coming together to deliver comfort beyond compare to enhance your travelling experience: the powerful 283 HP Pentastar V6 3.6 petrol and the brilliant 2.8 turbo diesel in the 178 HP version. Both engines comply with Euro 5 standards and are combined as standard with a 6-speed automatic gearbox with torque converter that offers closer spacing between the gears, limiting engine speed changes between the different transmission ratios and guaranteeing smoother engagements suited to all driving situations.

Lancia Flavia, sensations which have no limits

The new Lancia Flavia is the quintessence of open-air driving pleasure with its four real seats, ideal for a customer who wants the advantages of a coupé without sacrificing the unique sensations that only a convertible has to offer. And that’s not all. The new convertible is the most interesting option in this market segment, able to win over motorists who demand not only a substantial product, but also a distinctive and unique style. Moreover, choosing a Lancia means starting a trend because you are only following your own personality.

Made at the Sterling Heights plant in Michigan (USA), in keeping with the stylistic features of the Lancia brand, the glamorous Flavia interprets the Chrysler 200 Convertible model being launched on the European market. Perfect expression of the Italian way of life, the new front wheel drive Lancia Flavia guarantees a refined driving experience unparalleled by any other in its segment, whether tackling the daily trip in town to go to the office or when taking to splendid panoramic roads out of town on weekends.

In terms of length (4.9 metres), height (1.4 m) and width (1.8 m), the new Lancia is at the top of segment D, offering the ultimate in interior space (it can perfectly accommodate up to four adults) and on-board comfort, with its generous 276 cm wheelbase.

Distinguished by an elegant and dynamic look, the Flavia has a sculpturesque front end sporting the unprecedented grille with Lancia logo and the original front headlights and fog lights. Furthermore, the surface of the side panel is extremely sleek, in addition to being distinctly streamlined – which gives a boost to the car’s appearance and lends it dynamism – and featuring elegant 18″ alloy wheels.

The rear LED light clusters stylistically connected by a thin chrome-plated bar that further enhances the overall look contribute to accentuating the original design. This impression is further reinforced by the unusual chrome-plated tailpipe and by the sophisticated electrically controlled soft top enclosed inside the bonnet cover, harmoniously built into the body with the third brake light at its base.

So, if “elegance and dynamism” describe the exterior of the new Flavia, the guidelines inside are refinement and innovation, in perfect tune with the Italian style and the craftsmanship quality that has always distinguished Lancia cars. A refined style flows through the entire passenger compartment and envelops driver and passengers in a warm “embrace” thanks to the careful selection of fine materials, the attention devoted to the smallest details and the adoption of cutting-edge equipment for comfort, safety and driving pleasure.

In brief, the new Flavia has a sophisticated environment sure to win over motorists seeking exclusiveness, technology and Italian taste in a car. The new console was created with them in mind. It has elegant chrome-plated frames and a large central display, a brand-new steering wheel wrapped in leather complete with built-in controls for managing radio, cruise control and phone in total safety and newly designed seats upholstered in fine leather, complete with practical “active” headrests.

Only one exclusive “all inclusive” trim level of Flavia is marketed with a wealth of standard equipment, from the top quality leather upholstery, electronic stability control (ESC) and traction, latest-generation ABS and four airbags (front multi-stage and side) to the ISOFIX mountings for transporting children in complete safety, the innovative Uconnect® multimedia system complete with satellite navigation system, and the sophisticated “Boston Acoustic Sound System”.

The new Flavia is powered by a 2.4 litre petrol engine combined with a six-speed automatic gearbox that delivers a maximum power of 170 HP at 6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 220 Nm at 4500 rpm.

Lancia Thema, quality dressed in beauty

The Lancia Thema is the first global flagship to combine the expertise and functionality of Chrysler – it is based on the new Chrysler 300 built on the Chrysler Group LX rear-wheel drive platform – with the luxury of Poltrona Frau® leather interiors, the hushed silence of the great Lancias and the attention to detail which are the best expression of Italian manufacturing.

Available in two trim levels (Platinum and Executive) and two engine versions (the 286 HP V6 3.6L petrol engine with 8-speed automatic gearbox and the new MultiJet II 190 HP and 239 HP 3.0L V6 engine equipped with 5-speed automatic gearbox), the new car has an attractive price which corresponds to equipment of great value in this market segment.

The largest wealth of features ever offered in the safety field is proof of that. In fact, there are more than 70 systems installed on the new Lancia flagship, including Adaptive Speed Control (ACC) that adjusts the speed and automatically brakes to maintain the safety distance and “Blind Spot Detection” which signals entry of a vehicle into the blind spot or Forward Collision (front impact prevention) whose sensor positioned on the lower part of the front bumper picks up and informs the driver of potentially dangerous distances.

Together with many others available or offered as standard depending on the trim level, all these systems make the Thema one of the safest cars on the market: it is no chance that the Lancia flagship was awarded 5 Euro NCAP stars in 2012, the maximum for safety.

Also contributing to making Thema the new paradigm of the segment are the sunroof, the largest in its market segment with a 70% glazed surface, and the U-Connect system with 8.4″ touch screen, the largest and most advanced of its category that can be used to manage all the onboard functions of the car. And that’s not all. The first global flagship boasts a passenger compartment that is a true best-in-class lounge with Nappa leather interiors and real wood inserts.

Also its level of quiet is outstanding. It is embellished with quality materials that make it warm and exclusive, the result of a historical craftsmanship that only Italian style can provide. The Lancia flagship is also top of its class in terms of driving comfort, handling, steering response and efficiency of the electro hydraulic power assisted steering. Similarly, the multi-link suspension architecture, the exceptional structural rigidity and the high-performance braking system ensure a safe, smooth drive.

Finally, having always been a pioneer in the field of technological innovation, Lancia has recently presented the new Thema AWD, the most advanced all-wheel drive system in the segment allowing the car to be controlled even in extreme conditions in total safety.

Available in Switzerland on Platinum and Executive trim levels, AWD is combined with the powerful 3.6 V6 Pentastar 286 HP engine and eight-speed automatic gearbox developed by ZF. In detail, the innovative AWD system automatically deactivates the all-wheel drive whenever it is unnecessary and without the driver’s intervention to release all the torque onto the rear axle. This maximises fuel savings while however guaranteeing the exceptional performance and handling advantages of rear-wheel drive. Furthermore, the AWD system automatically switches on during the coldest months of the year, when slipping is detected or when the windscreen wiper sensors detect rain or snow, in order to optimally tackle poor grip surfaces.
