HYUNDAI FEATURES FIVE CONCEPTS BASED ON 2015 GENESIS, 2015 SONATA AND 2014 GENESIS COUPE AT THE 2014 SEMA SHOW

LAS VEGAS, Nov. 4, 2014 – Hyundai has once again teamed up with some of the biggest names in the automotive tuning community for SEMA 2014. This year, Hyundai focuses on the performance and tuning capabilities of its newest models, the 2015 Genesis and 2015 Sonata. Also featured in this year’s roster is the most-powerful four-cylinder 2014 Genesis Coupe ever built, and a rally-inspired Hyundai Veloster Turbo wrapped in a custom, Hyundai Quaker State livery. Hyundai will be showcasing these creations at its SEMA display in Central Hall (booth #24387) at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Nov. 4-7, 2014.

The lineup of Hyundai vehicles includes:

  • ARK Performance AR550 Genesis Sedan
  • Bisimoto Engineering Sonata
  • Blood Type Racing Genesis Coupe
  • JP Edition Sonata
  • Toca Signature Edition Genesis Sedan

“Every year we invite some of the biggest names in the aftermarket tuning community to build some of the most exciting vehicles at SEMA,” said Mike O’Brien, vice president, Product and Corporate Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “We wanted this year’s builders to develop performance and luxury in tandem, and from what you see from our lineup of vehicles, they have exceeded our goals on every measure.”

Bisimoto Engineering Sonata

For a third year in a row, Hyundai teamed up with powertrain gurus, Bisimoto Engineering, to create the most-powerful, front-wheel drive Sonata in history. To the tune of 708 horsepower, Bisimoto Engineering re-built Hyundai’s 2.4-liter “Theta-II” four cylinder engine from the ground up. As always, Bisi Ezerioha, owner and chief engineer of Bisimoto Engineering developed reliability in tandem with the car’s face-rearranging power. Complementing the extensive overhaul under the hood, Bisimoto wrapped its 2015 Sonata in custom laminated body wrap and graphics.

Blood Type Racing Genesis Coupe

The Chicago-based tuner, Blood Type Racing, set out to create the most-powerful 2.0-liter Genesis Coupe ever built. Through a combination of a high-boost Precision Turbo turbocharger, strengthened and fully balanced internal components, a custom intake, intercooler, full exhaust kit and nitrous injection, BTR achieved their goal, extracting almost 1000-crank horsepower from the engine. Complementing the outrageous power, BTR gave the vehicle an aggressive, underground racing appearance through the addition of a widebody kit from Japanese designer Kei Miura, with 40mm-wider front and 60mm-wider rear fenders, front bumper lip spoiler, rear diffuser and a GT wing for added down force.

JP Edition Sonata

With an emphasis on maintaining his signature build style, the JP Edition Sonata connects Los Angeles street art culture with automotive enthusiasts. Working closely with renowned street artist, Mr. 44 and Flexfit | BSCMP, the build features a balance of performance products, in-car entertainment with the latest innovations and clean styling, representing the enthusiasts whose cars showcase an extension of their personalities and lifestyles. Giving the Sonata a performance boost, John Pangilinan added an AEM cold air intake, a MagnaFlow exhaust kit and a hot charge pipe from Bisimoto engineering.

Toca Signature Edition Genesis

Toca Marketing Group, the Chicago-based builder who strives to push the limits of aftermarket fabrication, created its latest Toca Signature Edition vehicle to push the Genesis’ performance and luxury benchmarks to new heights. Dubbed “Steel Phoenix,” the car uses Hyundai’s “Tau” 5.0-liter V8 as the powertrain’s foundation. Toca engineered a one-off, Garrett twin turbo setup for the vehicle, complete with a full ARK Performance catback exhaust system, boosting the power output to 600 horsepower. The vehicle’s interior has been given the executive treatment with the custom black leather seats with contrasting white stitching, carbon-fiber trim panels and a Rockford Fosgate sound system.

HYUNDAI PARTNERS WITH BISIMOTO FOR A THIRD YEAR TO CREATE 708 HORSEPOWER FLEX-FUEL 2015 SONATA

Bisimoto Engineering Focuses on Strengthening and Reliability to Create Most-Powerful Sonata Ever

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Sept. 22, 2014 – For the third year in a row, Hyundai is partnering with the powertrain gurus at Bisimoto Engineering, this time to create a 708 horsepower Sonata for the 2014 SEMA show in Las Vegas. Bisimoto’s team specializes in extracting huge output from Hyundai’s engines, like the 1000 horsepower Bisimoto Genesis Coupe that was built for last year’s SEMA show.

For this year’s show, the team is using Hyundai’s 2.4-liter “Theta-II” 4-cylinder engine as the starting point for their build. Through a combination of strengthened internal components – forged pistons, connecting rods, a high-revving valve train and camshafts – a high-boost turbocharger, and a fast-burning, flex-fuel diet, Bisimoto will extract 708 horsepower from the engine. Power will be sent to the road through a 6-speed manual transmission. As a total package, the 2015 Bisimoto Engineering Sonata boasts supercar-beating power, with room for three friends to come along for the ride of a lifetime. The vehicle will be revealed at Hyundai’s SEMA press conference on November 4 at 9 a.m. PT.

“With a proven and efficient 2.4-liter engine as a starting platform and a sophisticated, sleek, four-door design, the 2015 Sonata was the perfect candidate for this year’s build,” said Bisi Ezerioha, owner and chief engineer, Bisimoto Engineering. “Outrageous power is nothing without reliability, and it was a firm goal to retain the reliability that Hyundai is known for. After hundreds of hours of testing, failure analysis and prototyping, 18 new products will be engineered and produced in house to produce 708 horsepower from the Sonata.”

Complementing the extensive overhaul under the hood, Bisimoto wrapped its 2015 Sonata in custom laminated body wrap and graphics. The interior has been given a sporty feel with the addition of racing harnesses, AEM wideband gauges and EK Autoworx interior paint. Rounding out the exterior look is a Bisimoto front splitter and aero package, Fifteen52 18-inch aluminum wheels and Burns stainless exhaust system.

TOCA MARKETING GROUP BOOSTS GENESIS TO NEW PERFORMANCE BENCHMARK

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Oct. 20, 2014 – Toca Marketing Group, the Chicago-based design and customization company that strives to push the limits of aftermarket fabrication, has revealed its 2015 Genesis for the 2014 SEMA show. In creating its latest Toca Signature Edition vehicle, the company has raised the Genesis’ performance and luxury benchmarks, creating a vehicle that breaks down barriers of innovation in the pursuit of perfection.

With an emphasis on fine detail, Toca strove to design and build a car that goes head-to-head with the German super sedans that are considered the auto industry’s performance benchmark. By adding an AirRex digital air suspension system, the car sits lower to the ground on ultra-high performance Toyo rubber, wrapped around custom 21-inch COR 3-piece wheels. Complementing the car’s twin-turbocharged performance, Toca added a custom 8-piston front and 6-piston rear brake set up from Neo Motorsport.

“The name Steel Phoenix came to me as soon as I saw the redesigned Genesis,” said John Toca, founder and owner of Toca Marketing Group. “The main focus of this build was to zone in on the luxury aspect, while improving performance in parallel. Although I wasn’t overly concerned about pushing crazy horsepower numbers, the custom-fabricated twin turbo setup adds 180 horsepower over the stock motor. Whether you’re driving the car, sitting in the executively-appointed passenger and rear seats, or admiring the car from the outside, this Genesis is guaranteed to put a smile on your face.”

The vehicle’s interior has been given the executive treatment with the custom black leather seats with contrasting white stitching, carbon-fiber trim panels and a Rockford Fosgate sound system. The vehicle has been refinished with a custom-blend of BASF R-M products, giving the paintwork a steel, metallic appearance. Rounding off the exterior appearance, Toca fabricated a one-off, all metal wide body design with matte and gloss black accents.

JOHN PANGILINAN’S 2015 SONATA BLENDS STREET ART WITH HIGH PERFORMANCE FOR SEMA

Vehicle Rounds Out Hyundai’s 2014 SEMA Lineup with Los Angeles Attitude

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Oct. 24, 2014 – Delivering on his eye-catching reputation, John Pangilinan revealed his 2015 Sonata for the 2014 SEMA show. The JP Edition Sonata strives to change the perception of what a sedan is by combining high performance driving dynamics with the striking visuals of Los Angeles street art. The design vision for the JP Edition Sonata is featured with the four other Hyundai SEMA builds in this latest video from Hyundai. The car will be revealed at Hyundai’s SEMA news conference in Las Vegas on November 4, 2014 at 9 a.m. PT.

With an emphasis on maintaining his signature build style, the JP Edition Sonata connects Los Angeles street art culture with automotive enthusiasts. By keeping the stock white paintwork as the visual base, JP wanted to represent a blank white canvas, upon which he would create a work of art. Working in collaboration with Flexfit | BSCMP and Mr. 44, a renowned Los Angeles-based street artist, the trio was able to create a Sonata that reflects a union between equally passionate street art and auto-enthusiast cultures.

“Inspired by a trip earlier this year to the Pow! Wow! Hawai’i art event in Hawaii, I wanted to connect the street art culture to automotive, without going too over the top with a full blown art car,” said John Pangilinan. “This build features a balance of performance products, in-car entertainment with the latest innovations and clean styling, representing the enthusiasts whose cars showcase an extension of their personalities and lifestyles.”

Giving the Sonata a performance boost, John Pangilinan added an AEM cold air intake, a MagnaFlow exhaust kit and a hot charge pipe from Bisimoto engineering. The chassis has been altered with the addition of KW coilovers. A custom, wide body and lip kit from LTMW give the Sonata a more aggressive stance, and the car now sits on 19-in. RAYS Gram Lights 57Getter wheels wrapped in Toyo R888 tires. Rounding out the customization, the front seats have been replaced with RECARO cross sportster seats and BP Auto Sound has added a full audio system with Alpine and Scosche electronics.

HYUNDAI TEAMS UP WITH BLOOD TYPE RACING INC. TO BRING THE EXCITEMENT OF UNDERGROUND RACING TO SEMA

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Oct. 8, 2014 – Blood Type Racing Inc., the Chicago-based builder specializing in extracting extreme, street-friendly performance from Korean vehicles, has released details on its 2014 Genesis Coupe built for the 2014 SEMA show. With a host of engine upgrades, suspension changes, and exterior and interior modifications, the BTR Genesis Coupe combines massive power with the true, adrenaline pumping experience of underground racing. The car will be revealed at Hyundai’s SEMA news conference in Las Vegas on November 4, 2014 at 9 a.m. PT.

Leveraging the Genesis Coupe’s performance DNA, the BTR Genesis Coupe uses Hyundai’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder as the engine’s foundation. The engine received new sleeves, and was bored to give a larger displacement. With the addition of a high-boost Precision Turbo turbocharger, strengthened and fully balanced internal components, a custom intake, intercooler, full exhaust kit and nitrous injection, the BTR Genesis Coupe sends over 800 horsepower to the rear wheels (nearly 1,000 horsepower at the crank) through a six-speed manual transmission. BTR gave the vehicle an aggressive, underground racing appearance by adding a custom wide body kit designed for BTR by the ever famous Body Kit designer Kei Miura from Japan, with 40mm-wider front and 60mm-wider rear fenders, front bumper lip spoiler, rear diffuser and a GT wing for added down force.

“Our focus on this vehicle was to build on the impressive performance abilities of the Genesis Coupe and help the growth of the aftermarket tuner community,” said Sam Lee, product manager, Blood Type Racing Inc. “It’s easy to add lots of power to an engine, but we engineered all other aspects of the vehicle – cornering and handling, stopping power, and visual appearance – to complement the massive horsepower we’re now getting from the engine. We’ve engineered a true, total package Genesis Coupe.”

The addition of Tanabe OLED Revel gauges, Sabelt racing seats and harnesses, a Sabelt steering wheel and Cusco roll cage give the BTR Genesis Coupe an aggressive interior, rounding out the complete package.
