Jeep® Brand at the 2015 Frankfurt International Motor Show

European preview of the new Jeep® Renegade and Jeep Cherokee ‘Night Eagle’ special editions
Two show cars fitted with exclusive Mopar accessories: Wrangler Rubicon Sunriser and Cherokee KrawLer.
Jeep brand’s sales continue its positive momentum.

‘Night Eagle’ special editions

Designed to enhance the bold design of Renegade and Cherokee, the new ‘Night Eagle’ special editions

will be based on the Longitude mid trim level, and will feature black styling cues which reassert their audacious, original personalities and unique flair for customisation.

The bold appearance of the Jeep Renegade Night Eagle accentuates its distinctive style. Merit for this goes to the satin-finished grey elements – such as the ‘Jeep’ badge on the front grille, the fog light frames, the roof bars and the dedicated badge – combined with exclusive 17″ black alloy rims. This special edition introduces a new matte paintwork named Volcano Sand, which complements the other four available colours: Carbon Black, Alpine White, Glacier Silver and Solar Yellow.

The Volcano Sand-liveried Renegade Night Eagle on show in Frankfurt sports a 2.0 diesel 140 HP combined with the 6 speed manual transmissions and Active Drive 4×4 system. On the inside, a leather steering wheel, exclusive fabric seats with electric lumbar adjustment on the driver’s seat, UConnect with 5″ screen, manual climate control system, 3.5″ TFT instrument panel, Cruise Control and rear parking sensors make for a highly comfortable and technological ambiance.
Renegade Night Eagle can be specified with 2.0 Multijet (120 HP or 140 HP), 1.6 Multijet 120 HP or 1.4 MultiAir 140 HP engine depending on the market.

Jeep Cherokee Night Eagle has several audacious, dark design elements and many glossy black accents on the exterior which together convey a bolder, sportier look. These include the front ‘Jeep’ badge, the grille, the roof bars, 18″ alloy rims, the ‘4×4’ and ‘Cherokee’ badges and deep tint sunscreen glasses . The range of exteriors is completed by a dedicated badge and a palette of four body paint colours to choose from: Black, White, Billet Silver and Granite Crystal. On the inside, the comprehensive standard equipment available on this special edition includes Uconnect with 8.4″ screen and navigation system, nine speakers with subwoofer, leather steering wheel, two-zone climate control system, TFT instrument panel with 3.5″ display, electric tailgate and rear parking sensors.

Available on the Cherokee Night Eagle is the new 2.2-litre MultiJet II turbo diesel engine delivering 185 HP or 200 HP (depending on the market). Both are combined with the Active Drive I 4×4 system.

Sporting a Billet Silver paint finish and black interior, the Cherokee Night Eagle shown in Frankfurt fits a complete set of standard contents, such as special bi-xenon headlights, front and rear parking sensors, 8,4 Uconnect sat nav system, automatic headlamps and rain sensing wiper, leather seats and leather steering wheel, two zone climate control, power liftgate and power folding mirrors. It is powered by a 2.2 Multijet II 200 HP engine with nine-speed automatic transmission and 4×4 Jeep Active Drive I for securing excellent performance.

A limited number of Night Eagle special editions will be built and sales will start within this year.

Two show cars: Cherokee KrawLer and Wrangler Rubicon Sunriser

Based on the Trailhawk version, the Jeep Cherokee KrawLer show car was created to tackle the toughest driving conditions, as the name suggests by hinting at ‘rock crawlers’ that are designed to climb over the harshest off-road obstacles. ‘KL’ is the code identifying the Cherokee family.

The ride is raised for extreme off-road use. This is why the show car is fitted with special Mopar equipment that includes special suspensions, BF Goodrich KM2 255/80/17 off-road tyres, wider wings, skid plates and platforms under the doors.

Sporting a special, Matte Green body pays homage to the Jeep brand’s heritage and tradition with quartz grey interior and exterior details, the KrawLer show car is fitted with a powerful 3.2 V6 Pentastar 272 HP engine, automatic nine-speed transmission and ‘Jeep® Active Drive Lock’ four-wheel drive with low range and rear differential lock.

Many eyes will also be on the Wrangler Rubicon Sunriser show car at the IAA Frankfurt. The Sunriser features exclusive Matte Orange paintwork, hence its original name, in addition to a host of Mopar accessories specifically designed for this vehicle. The bumpers, with a double tow hook on the front, are specifically designed for off-roading. The off-road wings, the 4″ suspension lift kit and the half doors make the Sunriser even bolder and more suitable for extreme use. LED lights fitted between the pillar and windscreen complete the look. LED technology is also implemented for the daytime running lights and the rear light clusters. The interior is in black leather customised with matte fluorescent orange trim which matches the colour of the bodywork.

The extreme abilities of this Wrangler, which is powered by a 2.8 CRD engine combined with a five-speed automatic transmission, are further emphasized by an engine skid plate and beadlock wheels. The latter is an accessory which fixes the tyre bead to the rim to prevent unintended tyre removal, particularly when running with very low pressure and tackling tricky surfaces, like rocks, sand or mud.

On the stand a special ‘Moparized’ version of the Renegade Trailhawk will also be on display. This special Trailhawk has 17″ aluminium alloy rims, underbody skid plates, two rear tow hooks and exclusive black mirror caps cleverly contrasting with the Anvil livery. Inside, the customisation includes sporty pedals and Jeep design mats. All Mopar accessories are specifically designed to enhance the adventurous spirit of this version of the Renegade which is most suited to off-roading.

Jeep brand’s sales success continues

Jeep brand’s presence at the 2015 IAA coincides with the announcement of very positive sales results achieved over the past two years since the brand last visited the Frankfurt Show. Jeep was the brand with the highest growth rate in Europe in 2014 (source ACEA) with registrations increasing by over 42% in the EMEA region and by 70% in Europe (EU 28 + EFTA).

The same positive trend continued into the first half of 2015. Compared with the same period in 2014, Jeep sales increased by 174% in Europe totalling 45,000 cars sold.

The entire Jeep range on display in Frankfurt

The stand at the Frankfurt Motor Show this year expresses the dual nature of the Jeep brand. On one hand, there is its genuine, extreme off-road personality expressed by the use of natural materials, such as wood and stone. On the other, there is the brand’s high-tech, innovative attitude, most noticeable in the displays of the higher end models, which is asserted using steel and large LED walls.

In addition to the full Jeep line-up, also in display a selection of exclusive accessories and genuine Jeep spare parts made in collaboration with Mopar are showcased in a dedicated area of the stand. The display also features the complete Jeep official merchandising range, including articles dedicated to the Jeep® Owners Group (JOG), the only official club managed centrally by the brand, and which is already active in 17 countries across Europe with over 37,000 members in its ranks.

Finally, through brochures and dedicated material at the stand, visitors can learn more about the products of FCA Bank, a financing company specialised in the automotive sector. The company operates in the main European markets – and in Germany with FCA Bank Deutschland GmbH – with a sole mission: to support automotive sales for all FCA brands by offering innovative financial products complete with added-value services dedicated to the dealer network, private customers and companies.

One of the star cars on the Jeep stand is the Renegade, the first Jeep to be made in Italy. Over 135,000 have rolled out of the revamped FCA Melfi Plant to date and it is now sold in over 100 countries worldwide. Launched last September, Jeep Renegade has won many important international awards, such as ‘New Car of the Year 2015’ awarded by the well-known Italian monthly magazine Quattroruote, ‘4×4 of 2015’ by the French “4×4 Magazine” and ‘Best SUV of 2015’ awarded by the internet site Coches.net, an influential publication on the Spanish motoring scene.

These important awards confirm the appreciation of the general public who are responding to its unique, distinctive style, its decisive off-road performance and its compact size. Since its launch, the model has quickly climbed the various national sales rankings in its category, becoming one of the top sellers in Italy, France and Austria. Renegade Limited is the most popular trim level with customers, accounting for 55% of all sales. This, added to the 10% share taken by the top-of-the-range Trailhawk indicates the success of the versions that contain more standard equipment. That is not all. Remarkably popular are the 4×4 versions (almost 50% of the total) and the nine-speed automatic transmission, which is picked by one in five customers.

Visitors to the Frankfurt Motor Show can see a Renegade Trailhawk with a sophisticated Anvil light blue paint finish and black interior. This is the most ‘off-road’ version and it combines the Jeep all-terrain capabilities with the best FCA innovative engine technology. It brings Jeep Active Drive Low all-wheel drive system together with an efficient 2.0 Multijet 170 HP turbo diesel engine and an automatic nine-speed automatic transmission, underbody skid plates for off-road use, rear tow hook, My Sky sunroof. Furthermore, the car on display sports some exclusive Mopar accessories like: special hood decal, door sill guards, piano black mirror covers, premium floor mats and splash guards.

Three models of the Cherokee, a vehicle which is cutting-edge and true to the Jeep tradition at the same time, are on display in Frankfurt. Cherokee was the first in its segment to be equipped with an innovative nine-speed automatic transmission and first to fit rear axle disconnect to cut energy loss when 4×4 mode is not necessary and to enhance fuel efficiency. Not least, Jeep Cherokee has proudly obtained five Euro NCAP stars as a result of its many safety features.

Special mention goes to the brand-new 2.2 Multijet II engine, which made its first appearance on a FCA model on Cherokee. Made at the Pratola Serra plant in Italy, the new engine was recently launched in several European countries – Italy, Spain, Germany, the UK, France and Belgium -gaining appreciation among customers and propelling Cherokee to the top of its category for performance, fuel efficiency and off-road capabilities. Two power variants satisfy any requirements, offering a 200 HP and 185 HP, both with 440 Nm of peak torque, in combination with the innovative automatic nine-speed transmission with 4×4 Jeep Active Drive I or 4×4 Jeep Active Drive II with low range depending on the versions.

Visitors to Frankfurt can see the brand’s off-road specialist, the Cherokee Trailhawk. With a Bright White body and black Morocco leather interior, the car on display has a 3.2 V6 Pentastar 272 HP engine, nine-speed automatic transmission and ‘Jeep; Active Drive Lock’ traction. It is packed with standard equipment, which includes 17″ off-road alloy rims with M+S tyres, Selec-Speed control with Hill Descent Control, specific suspension and off-road skid plate, multifunctional instrument panel with 7″ TFT colour display, Uconnect® with 8.4″ colour touchscreen and 3D maps, Alpine sound system, Keyless Enter ‘n Go, bi-xenon headlights, front and rear parking sensors, as well as advanced brake assist, lane sense lane departure warning , full speed forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with stop & go, rear back up camera, blind spot monitoring and rear cross-path detection, parallel and perpendicular park assist.

The iconic Wrangler, the byword for off-road driving with a natural flair for customisation as demonstrated by the many special limited edition versions which have been launched over the past four years, could not miss the appointment in Germany.

The legendary off-road capabilities of the Wrangler range are delivered by the two-speed ‘shift-on-the fly’ Command-Trac NV241 part-time all-wheel drive system. This system allows the driver to choose the required drive system at any time according to the surface – and to the advantage of fuel efficiency. The 2.72:1 reduction ratio boosts torque at slow speeds to greatly increase off-road traction. Four-wheel drive is engaged manually using a lever on the central console. These rugged features are complemented with a sophisticated look which together show how a love for adventure can apply to both city life and to the outdoors alike, as demonstrated by the Dual Top for unique open-air riding experience.

Spotlights in Frankfurt are certain to be trained on the Jeep Wrangler Sahara, equipped with a 2.8 litre turbo diesel engine delivering 200 HP of power and 460 Nm of torque, combined with a five-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. On the outside, the car is finished in a Firecraker Red paint colour , combined with black leather interiors and the exclusive Dual Top®. This top is the combination of a three-panel removable hard top in matching body colour and a soft top for unique open-air riding experiences. The bold look of the Wrangler Sahara is complemented by 18″ satin-finish alloy rims and 255/70 R18 tyres suited for off-road use too.

It is packed with standard equipment, including automatic headlights, automatic climate control, Premium sound system with subwoofer and wings in matching body colour. Furthermore, the car on display in Frankfurt is fitted with a UconnectTM GPS multimedia infotainment system with 6.5″ touchscreen, 40 gigabyte hard disk, USB port, AUX input and DVD video player.

The Jeep line-up in Frankfurt is completed by the Grand Cherokee, the most awarded premium Large SUV ever. For over twenty years, it has been at the pinnacle of the Jeep model range in terms of style, quality and technological innovation. The large, exclusive model range is represented by a Summit version and by the thrilling, high-performance SRT.

The top-of-the-range Grand Cherokee Summit is particularly favoured by European customers, as demonstrated by the fact that it accounts for 30% of the total sales. Fitting a Multijet II 3 litre engine delivering 250 HP of power and an eight-speed automatic transmission, the showcased car sports an elegant Brilliant Black, black Morocco leather interior, 20″ alloy rims and double glass sunroof. The car also comes with an innovative ‘Blue Ray DVD’ multimedia infotainment system with two independent screens for the rear passengers, each with HDMI and AUX port and wireless headphones. Furthermore, all Summit models are equipped with a sophisticated Harman Kardon 825 watt sound system with 19 speakers and, on the latest versions for the first time, Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) technology, which optimises listening quality by means of the Harman Kardon sound system and four additional microphones.

Visitors may also admire the Grand Cherokee SRT high-performance version, the fastest and most powerful Jeep ever, which delivers sublime and superior performance. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5 seconds, has a top speed of 257 km/h and achieves braking distance from 100 to 0 km/h in only 35 metres. Merit for this goes to the powerful HEMI®; V8 6.4 litre engine (468 HP of power and 624 Nm of torque) provided with Fuel Saver technology to cut fuel consumption and emissions.

Furthermore, to utilise the engine power even more, the car is provided with ‘Launch Control’. This device operates on the engine, transmission and suspensions to obtain lightning fast, racing-style take-offs and can be activated by pressing a button on the centre console. The model on show has a red livery embellished with 20″ alloy rims with black chrome-plated finished, black Nappa leather interiors and ANC technology which conveys the typical sound of the HEMI®; V8 6.4 litre engine right into the passenger compartment.
