Η Aston Martin DB11, που κάνει ντεμπούτο στην έκθεση της Γενεύης, είναι ένα από τα σημαντικότερα μοντέλα της σύγχρονης ιστορίας της Αγγλικής φίρμας. Και αυτό, γιατί βασίζεται σε μία ολοκαίνουρια πλατφόρμα, διαθέτει σχεδιασμό που διαφοροποιείται αισθητά από την υπόλοιπη γκάμα και κινείται από έναν ολοκαίνουριο, υπερτροφοδοτούμενο V12 κινητήρα!
Ας πάρουμε τα πράγματα από την αρχή όμως. Στόχος των μηχανικών, ήταν εξαρχής η δημιουργία ενός ελαφρύτερου, ισχυρότερου και πιο αποδοτικού όσον αφορά στο packaging πλαισίου. Σύμφωνα με την Aston Martin, το chassis της DB11 “θέτει νέα standards για μάζα έναντι ακαμψίας” και αυτό είναι μία πολύ καλή αρχή. Η DB11 είναι γενικά μεγαλύτερη από την DB9. Το μήκος της φτάνει τα 4.739 χιλιοστά, το πλάτος τα 2.060 και το ύψος, τα 1.279 χιλιοστά. Το μεταξόνιο είναι κατά 65 χιλιοστά μεγαλύτερο, το εμπρός μετατρόχιο είναι κατά 75 χιλιοστά μεγαλύτερο και το πίσω μετατρόχιο, κατά 43 χιλιοστά μεγαλύτερο. Το συνολικό πλάτος, είναι 28 χιλιοστά μεγαλύτερο ενώ το πλάτος, κατά 50 χιλιοστά. Η αύξηση του μεταξονίου, έδωσε τη δυνατότητα στους μηχανικούς να μετακινήσουν τον V12 όσο το δυνατόν πιο πίσω, κάτι που με τη σειρά του διαμόρφωσε την κατανομή βάρους στο 51:49 (εμπρός-πίσω). Αξίζει επίσης να σημειώσουμε ότι τόσο το chassis, όσο και η ανάρτηση, το σύστημα διεύθυνσης και τα ηλεκτρονικά της DB11 έχουν τροποποιηθεί ανάλογα με τις οδηγίες του Matt Becker – πρώην Lotus.
Όσον αφορά στον σχεδιασμό, δεν διαφέρει θεαματικά από ότι είδαμε στην DB10 του James Bond. Στο εμπρός μέρος, την παράσταση κλέβει η μεγάλη γρίλια-σήμα κατατεθέν της Aston Martin που πλαισιώνεται από τα LED φωτιστικά σώματα με τα νέα γραφικά. Ένα ακόμα χαρακτηριστικό του design της DB11, είναι η συνεχόμενη καμπύλη που ξεκινά από το A-pillar και καταλήγει στο C-pillar ενώ δεν θα μπορούσα να μην αναφερθώ στο πίσω μέρος με τα πολύ λεπτά και ιδιαίτερα φωτιστικά σώματα και τις δύο απολήξεις της εξάτμισης. Μιας που είμαστε στον σχεδιασμό, ας αναφερθούμε και στην αεροδυναμική του νέου μοντέλου και πιο συγκεκριμένα σε δύο “εξαρτήματα” που μεταφέρονται πρακτικά αυτούσια από την Vulcan. Το πρώτο ονομάζεται Curlicue και είναι ένας αεραγωγός στο εσωτερικό των εμπρός θόλων για να μειώνεται το lift κατευθύνοντας τον αέρα από τον θόλο στο πλάι του αυτοκινήτου. Το δεύτερο, λέγεται AeroBlade και χρησιμοποιεί την ροή του αέρα για να “δημιουργήσει” ένα εικονικό spoiler και να βελτιώσει την ευστάθεια του πίσω μέρους. Ο αέρας μπαίνει μέσω αεραγωγών στην βάση του C-pillar και αφού περάσει μέσα από το αμάξωμα, καταλήγει στο τελείωμα της πίσω πόρτας ενώ η αποτελεσματικότητα του AeroBlade ενισχύεται από μία μικρή, ενεργή αεροτομή που ανεβαίνει αυτόματα σε υψηλές ταχύτητες.
Χωρίς αμφιβολία όμως, ένα από τα βασικά χαρακτηριστικά της νέας DB11, είναι ο κινητήρας της. Ένα ολοκαίνουριο σύνολο, σχεδιασμένο και εξελιγμένο από την Aston Martin και τον επικεφαλής powertrains της, Brian Fitzsimons. Πρόκειται για έναν twin-turbo V12 με χωρητικότητα 5.204 κ.εκ. που αποδίδει 608 άλογα και 700 Nm ροπής, χαρίζοντας στο νέο μοντέλο τον τίτλο της “ισχυρότερης Aston Martin DB στην ιστορία”.
Ο κινητήρας, συνδυάζεται με ένα 8-τάχυτο, αυτόματο κιβώτιο της ZF, με την ισχύ να περνά στον δρόμο από τους τροχούς του πίσω άξονα, αφού πρώτα έχει περάσει από ένα μηχανικό διαφορικό περιορισμένης ολίσθησης με active torque vectoring. Όλα αυτά, έχουν ως αποτέλεσμα τα 100 km/h από στάση να έρχονται σε 3.9 δευτερόλεπτα και η τελική να είναι 322 km/h! Κάτι που αξίζει να σημειώσουμε, είναι ότι η DB11 δεν χρησιμοποιεί κάποιου είδους σύστημα για να βελτιώνει τον ήχο του κινητήρα!
Τέλος, η καμπίνα. Εκεί βλέπουμε μία μίξη του παραδοσιακού με το μοντέρνο. Παραδοσιακό, όπως η κεντρική κονσόλα που ξεκινά από το ταμπλό και συνεχίζει μέχρι το τούνελ της μετάδοσης αλλά και μοντέρνο, όπως ο ψηφιακός πίνακας οργάνων που αποτελείται από μία TFT LCD οθόνη 12 ιντσών. Σύμφωνα με την Αγγλική εταιρία, ο χώρος για τα κεφάλια των εμπρός επιβατών έχει αυξηθεί κατά 10 χιλιοστά ενώ το άνοιγμα της πόρτας είναι μεγαλύτερο για ευκολότερη επιβίβαση και αποβίβαση. Εν τω μεταξύ, ο χώρος για τα κεφάλια των πίσω επιβατών έχει αυξηθεί κατά 54 χιλιοστά, ενώ ο χώρος για τα πόδια, κατά 87 χιλιοστά. Αυτό σημαίνει ότι τα πίσω καθίσματα είναι πλέον ικανά να φιλοξενήσουν ανθρώπους… Τέλος, ο χώρος αποσκευών έχει χωρητικότητα 270 λίτρα -20% περισσότερα απ’ ότι διέθετε η DB9.
Η τιμή της Aston Martin DB11 στη Γερμανία, είναι €204.900 και οι πρώτες παραδόσεις θα ξεκινήσουν το τελευταίο τρίμηνο του 2016.

ASTON MARTIN UNVEILS THE DB11: THE LATEST IN AN ILLUSTRIOUS BLOODLINE
1 March 2016, Geneva: A new chapter in Aston Martin’s history began at the 86th International Geneva Motor Show with the unveiling of the DB11. The first product launched under the company’s ‘Second Century’ plan, DB11 is the bold new figurehead of the illustrious ‘DB’ bloodline and an authentic, dynamic sporting GT in the finest Aston Martin tradition.
The DB11 showcases a fresh and distinctive design language, pioneering aerodynamics and is powered by a potent new in-house designed 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine. Built upon a new lighter, stronger, and more space efficient bonded aluminium structure, DB11 is the most powerful, most efficient and most dynamically gifted DB model in Aston Martin’s history. As such, it is the most significant new Aston Martin since the introduction of the DB9 in 2003.

Heralding a new design era for Aston Martin, DB11 is the latest landmark in a remarkable aesthetic journey; one that gave us icons such as the DB2/4, DB5 and, most recently, the DB10 developed specifically for James Bond. DB11 re-imagines the relationship between form and function with a series of fresh design signatures. Foremost amongst these are the front-hinging clamshell bonnet, distinctive LED headlights and accentuated lines of the iconic Aston Martin grille. The profile is equally dramatic, thanks to the roof strakes that flow uninterrupted from A-pillar to C-pillar. The clean lines continue at the rear, with a sloping decklid that smoothly blends into boldly sculpted tail-lights to create a new and unmistakable graphic.
Innovative aerodynamics play their part in this aesthetic revolution with clever management of airflow both over and through the bodywork aiding stability while preserving the DB11’s uncluttered surfaces. Front-end lift is reduced by the gill-like Curlicue which releases high-pressure air from inside the wheel arch via a concealed vent within the redesigned side-strake. Meanwhile, rear-end lift is reduced by the Aston Martin AeroBladeTM; a virtual spoiler fed by discreet air intakes located at the base of each C-pillar. Air is ducted through the bodywork, before venting as a jet of air from the aperture in the rear decklid.
Like every Aston Martin, the heart of the DB11 is found beneath the bonnet, though unlike any Aston Martin before it, the DB11’s heart is a 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged V12. Designed in-house this new engine develops 608PS1 (600BHP1) and 700Nm1 of torque, making DB11 the most powerful production DB model ever. Naturally, it’s the most dynamic and most accelerative too, with a top speed of 200mph1 and a 0-62mph time of just 3.9sec1. Thanks to intelligent bank activation and stop-start technology that potency is matched by greatly improved efficiency.
To exploit the advantages of its new body structure and harness the immense performance of the new twin-turbo V12 engine, the DB11’s chassis, suspension, steering and electronics have been re-imagined and key new technologies embraced. Multiple driver-selectable dynamic modes – GT, Sport and Sport Plus – progressively intensify the response of the engine, 8-speed automatic ZF transmission together with the new electric power steering and Torque Vectoring by braking while increasing the firmness of the adaptive damping for a greater sense of agility. The result is a driving experience that combines exemplary ride comfort and true sports car agility, for an extraordinary breadth of dynamic capability.
As a true 21st century Aston Martin the DB11 combines the very latest technology developed in conjunction with technical partner, Daimler AG, with the finest quality and hand craftsmanship. Using a full-colour 12” TFT LCD display, the all-new instrument cluster presents primary vehicle information with absolute clarity, while a second, centrally-mounted 8” TFT screen is dedicated to infotainment. Recommended Retail Price from £154,900 in the UK2, €204,900 in Germany2 and $211,995 in USA3, first deliveries of the DB11 car are scheduled to begin during the fourth quarter of 2016.
