Αύξηση 13% των πωλήσεων της Toyota στην Ευρώπη το 2ο τρίμηνο

Η Toyota ανακοίνωσε ότι οι πωλήσεις της στην Ευρώπη αυξήθηκαν κατά 13% κατά το δεύτερο τρίμηνο του 2012 αφού πούλησε 217.410 αυτοκίνητα, με τα 205.235 να είναι της Toyota και 12.175 της Lexus. Από την αρχή του έτους έχουνε πουληθεί 435.900 αυτοκίνητα, +2% (412.446 Toyota και 23.454 Lexus).

Solid 13% Q2 sales increase for Toyota and Lexus vehicles in Europe

• Toyota’s European-built core models up 11% in Q2 (Yaris up 39%, Avensis up 13%)
• Toyota Prius gains 8% in Q2
• Against backdrop of contracting automotive market in Western Europe by 8%

Toyota Motor Europe (TME) posted a 13% sales increase in the second quarter with sales of 217,410 vehicles, including 205,235 Toyota and 12,175 Lexus vehicles. During the first half of 2012, TME posted a solid 2% sales increase to 435,900 units, including 412,446 Toyota and 23,454 Lexus vehicles, even as the automotive market in Western Europe contracted by 8% slightly offset by a 5% growth in Central and Eastern Europe.

Karl Schlicht, TME Executive Vice-President, said: “The positive sales performance this quarter is encouraging despite a continually declining European automotive market. All of our recent products, including the Yaris Hybrid, Prius+ and Toyota GT86 sports coupe, launched to enthusiastic reactions by our retailers and customers.”

Toyota Highlights

Toyota’s European core models, consisting of the Toyota AYGO, Yaris, Yaris Hybrid, Auris, Auris Hybrid, Verso and Avensis, posted an 11% overall increase in the second quarter. Recently renewed models continued to perform well with sales of the Toyota Yaris up 39% and Avensis up 13%. Sales of Toyota’s renewed AYGO city car performed at a steady pace with second quarter sales of 19,343 units.

Sales of the third generation of the Toyota Prius – the world’s first mass-produced full hybrid vehicle – saw a sales increase of 8% to 6,203 units in the second quarter. The all-new Toyota Yaris Hybrid and the newly introduced Prius Family – with the addition of the seven-seater Prius+ and Prius Plug-in Hybrid being launched in Europe over the summer – bring Toyota’s full hybrid technology to a wider range of customers.

The Toyota Camry, built at Toyota’s manufacturing facility in Russia, saw a 58% sales increase with 11,386 units in the second quarter. Sales of the Toyota RAV4 reached 15,928 units, up 2% from the same period last year. Toyota’s Hilux saw a second quarter sales increase of 32% with 9,092 units.

Lexus Highlights

Second quarter Lexus sales in Europe increased by 4% following the successful launches of the new Lexus GS and RX. During the first half of 2012, Lexus sales in Europe increased by 7% with sales of 23,454 units. The premium compact Lexus CT 200h saw sales of 9,604 units in the first six months, up 27% from 2011.

Sales of the GS range, including the full hybrid Lexus GS 450h, increased to 1,562 units in the second quarter, already more than doubling last year’s total GS sales. Making the biggest gains in the Lexus RX range was the recently launched full hybrid Lexus RX 450h with an increase of 15% to 2,190 units. Total sales of the RX range reached 3,790 units in the second quarter.
