Την παραγωγή των Sports Series μοντέλων της ανακοίνωσε η McLaren, η οποία ήδη έχει περισσότερες από 1.000 παραγγελίες για την 570S. Η παραγωγή της 540C θα ακολουθήσει μέσα στις επόμενες εβδομάδες, με την McLaren να παρουσιάζει μέσα στα επόμενα 2 χρόνια τόσο την 570 Spider όσο και την 570S Gran Turismo. Στόχος της McLaren είναι να πουλά έως το 2018 4.000 αυτοκίνητα κάθε χρόνο.
Τόσο η 540C όσο και η 570S φορούν το MonoCell II σασί της McLaren, όπως και τον twin-turbo V8 3,8-λίτρων κινητήρας της, όπου στην πρώτη αποδίδει 540 άλογα με 540 Nm ροπής και στην δεύτερη 570 άλογα με 600 Nm ροπής. Η 540C κάνει τα 0-100 χλμ/ώρα σε 3,5 δευτερόλεπτα, ενώ η 570S σε 3,2 δευτερόλεπτα. Σε ότι αφορά την τελική ταχύτητα τους, η 570S έχει 328 χλμ/ώρα, με την 540C να πιάνει τα 320 χλμ/ώρα.

McLAREN SPORTS SERIES ENTERS PRODUCTION
McLaren Automotive has started production of its new Sports Series family of luxury high-performance sports cars at the state-of-the-art McLaren Production Centre (MPC) in Woking, England. The first car to be launched in the Sports Series family is the 570S Coupé, and this will be followed by the 540C Coupé and another bodystyle in 2016. The first McLaren 570S Coupé to roll off the production line has been delivered to a retailer in the UK and, even before the first customer handover takes place, the global retailer network is holding over 1,000 orders for this superb new addition to the McLaren range.
The start of production of the new Sports Series heralds a new chapter in the short history of McLaren Automotive, as well as completing its three tier product strategy of Ultimate Series, Super Series and Sports Series. When the full Sports Series family is complete by 2018, it is forecast to more than double the annual volume of McLaren Automotive to more than 4,000 cars per year. The Sports Series is priced from £126,000 for the 540C Coupé rising to £143,250 for the 570S Coupé.
