Fiat Panda Natural Power: the way the orders of the first “two cylinders” methane
• For the first time in the world debuts a twin turbo engine running on natural gas • The new 0.9 TwinAir Turbo Natural Power 80 hp has reduced CO2 emissions – 86 g / km, a record in the Fiat Group and one of the best on the market – and fuel consumption: 3.1 kg/100 km in the combined cycle • Excellent also the autonomy that, compared to a performance improvement of 30%, has increased by about 10% compared to the Classic Panda 1.4 Natural Power • List prices starting at 13,950 euros (turnkey) • A cut running costs and, for those who finance, instant savings thanks to the solution at zero interest and zero down, valid until September 30
From now open orders for the Panda TwinAir Turbo Natural Power 80 hp, the new version with minimal environmental impact in a single product that combines the economic and ecological benefits to natural gas supply with the power and driving pleasure provided by the engine TwinAir Turbo.
Available in the fitting Pop, Easy and Lounge – list prices are respectively 13,950 euros, 14,700 euros and 15,950 euros – the Fiat Panda Natural Power widens the range of a model has always been attentive to the real needs of customers. In particular, together with the Panda Easy Power (LPG / petrol) launched in May, the new Natural Power version proves to be a smart solution especially at a time when the price of petrol and diesel increases steadily. In addition, until September 30, those who buy the new Panda Natural Power will benefit from a zero-rate financing and zero down.
All the winning features of the new engine The Fiat Panda is the first car in the world to be equipped with a small engine cylinder turbocharged methane / petrol, full of verve, with a high specific power and torque that combines perfectly the reduction of consumption and entertainment driving.
In addition, due to the characteristics of the new Panda – wide track and a torsion beam rear suspension with increased roll stiffness designed specifically for the CNG version – even the Panda Natural Power driving behavior, in terms of handling and comfort is significantly improved compared the previous generation, making the car safer and more entertaining to drive.
Equipped with the 0.9 TwinAir Turbo Natural Power 80 hp, the new Panda ensures low levels of CO2 (86 g / km) and fuel consumption (3.1 kg/100 km on the combined cycle approval), both values are recorded with a methane. In particular, the data on emissions is an absolute record among the cars of the Fiat Group and one of the lowest values of the entire market.
Excellent also the autonomy that, compared to a performance improvement of 30%, has increased by about 10% when compared to the Classic Panda 1.4 Natural Power. Furthermore, compared to the petrol version of the new Panda, the tank is almost unchanged boasting a capacity of 35 liters. The Panda Twin Air Turbo Natural Power ensures maximum freedom of movement even when you are not near one of more than 900 natural gas filling station opened today.
Furthermore, considering the load capacity of methane cylinders equal to approximately 12 kg (equivalent to 72 liters at a pressure of 200 bar), a plenty of natural gas costs just 11.7 Euro (average in August € 0.979 / kg). Not to mention that the arrangement under the floor of the two tanks of gas keeps unchanged the effective volume of the luggage compartment (200 liters). Not only. By saving on fuel you can in a short time to reset the price difference between the Natural Power version and the petrol 1.2 69 HP: in fact, assuming an annual mileage of 12,000 km of medium urban cycle, you can save around € 1,150 / year then in just over 3 years you pay off the initial investment.
Technical Description Like all Fiat cars on natural gas or LPG, the new Panda Natural Power is original equipment (OEM), and produced in the factory, which is guaranteed by the brand itself and marketed through the normal sales network. In this way, the customer can be assured of compliance with the safety standards of the highest quality and reliability, as well as lower operating costs and the use of the latest technologies in this field.
In particular, compared to the gasoline version, the TwinAir bi-fuel has specific elements for the power supply system including the intake manifold, the injectors, the electronic control system of the engine and the valve seats with specific geometry and made of material low wear. Just the perfect integration of all the components together with the most advanced technologies – such as the MultiAir system and turbocharger – as well as ensuring maximum reliability, it does not alter in any way the performance and driveability of the car when it runs on natural gas.
Finally, the two supply systems (methane and gasoline) are independent of one another: as a rule, in fact, the vehicle runs on methane and only the starter is always performed gasoline, immediately after passing and automatically to another system. The response to gasoline is required only when the gas in the tank is about to run out, and in any case you can always switch from natural gas to petrol and vice versa by pressing a button on the dashboard.
European leadership Eight months after the commercial launch of the new Panda, then, the range has been enhanced with this new engine with minimal environmental impact, as well as being the perfect synthesis between the first and second car, aims to play a leading role in this market segment growing Suffice it to say that in Italy the registrations of vehicles powered by natural gas in the first seven months of 2012 grew by 41% compared to the same period in 2011, compared to a reduction of the private market in the same period of 23%. An increase also determined by the significant rise in traditional fuels: in the period August 2011 – August 2012 the cost of gasoline and diesel were increased by 15% and 18%, while methane has posted a modest 7%.
Pioneered over 15 years ago this technology, now Fiat is the first and only manufacturer to offer, in its “Natural Power” broad range that can respond to the mobility needs of a wide class of customers, including in the area of professional freight. Thanks for offering such a wide and articulated today Fiat is the European leader in the field of vehicles with factory-fitted methane systems (OEM) with over 500,000 units sold since 1997, including cars and commercial vehicles. A record that has certainly contributed, for the fifth consecutive year, to make the Fiat brand with the lowest CO2 emissions of cars sold in Europe in 2011, with an average value of 118.2 g / km (4, 9 g / km less than the average for 2010).
Why choose methane Fiat believes that methane propulsion systems are currently the most appropriate technological choice to help reduce pollution in urban areas and reduce CO2 emissions. In addition to being fuel “cleaner” available today, natural gas is also by far the cheapest – as demonstrated by operating economy than gasoline (in terms of fuel cost per km) by more than 50% – and The safer than gasoline and LPG, second only to diesel.
In detail, from the ecological standpoint, methane is the cleanest fuel currently available. In fact, compared to diesel oil, the natural gas vehicles do not emit particulates and emissions of nitrogen oxides are lower by about 90%. Instead, compared to gasoline, natural gas engines ensure a reduction of nitrogen oxides of about 50% and nearly 25% of CO2 thus contributing to the reduction of the greenhouse effect and the climate change and allowing to move in the “zone at limited traffic “of our city, park the vehicle in the garage and on the ferries.
In economic terms, the choice of methane is a valid alternative to conventional fuels. In fact, compared to diesel or gasoline, natural gas costs about half, this allows you to travel with the same expense twice as many miles. The Fiat Panda TwinAir Turbo Natural Power offers a dual fuel (CNG and gasoline), which translates into a maximum freedom of movement.
Another important factor that has contributed to the development of natural gas safety. According to the EPA (the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency), methane is one of the safest fuels, second only to diesel. Not to mention that it is not toxic and having a reduced risk of fire – its density is lower than the air, so in case of a spill tends to evaporate and rise to the top without giving rise to dangerous levels – CNG vehicles can either be parked in underground garages is transported on ferries.
