Η Scuderia Ferrari είχε για άλλη μια χρονιά τα ταχύτερα pit-stop, με βάση το μέσο όρο των 90 αλλαγών ελαστικών που έκανε. Το βραβείο Pit-Stop Challenge, του Sky Sports F1, δόθηκε στον Diego Ioverno, που είναι ο υπεύθυνος των χειρισμών στην πίστα.
Είναι μια αναγνώριση που μας κάνει πολύ χαρούμενους, γιατί μας βραβεύει για την δουλειά που έχουμε κάνει, όχι τόσο σαν απόλυτη επίδοση, όσο για την επαναληπτικότητά μας. Η επαναληπτικότητα είναι πολύ σημαντική στην εργασία μας. Δεν έχει νόημα να κάνεις ένα pit-stop κάτω από τα 2”, αν τα επόμενα 10 είναι πάνω από τα 3”.
Τα συγχαρητήρια ανήκουν και στην υπόλοιπη ομάδα, γιατί πίσω από τους χρόνους μας, κρύβεται η δουλειά πολλών ανθρώπων που βοήθησαν στον εξοπλισμό μας, τόσο με την σχεδίαση, όσο και με την κατασκευή των εξαρτημάτων που χρησιμοποιούμε για την αλλαγή των ελαστικών.
Από τα 90 pit-stop της ομάδας, μόνο τα 11 ξεπέρασαν τα 3”, με το μονοθέσιο να ακουμπάει στην άσφαλτο και την οπτική ένδειξη του οδηγού αναμμένη. Στα 5 από αυτά υπήρχε κάποιο πρόβλημα, όπως του DRS του Fernando Alonso στο Bahrain ή τα σκασμένα ελαστικά του Feripe Massa σε Bahrain και Μ. Βρετανία. Ένα pit-stop έγινε εσκεμμένα αργό, βάση της μεγάλης διαφοράς που υπήρχε ανάμεσα στον Alonso και τον άμεσο αντίπαλό του (τρίτο pit stop Κίνας). 53 από τα pit-stop, έγιναν σε 2.5” ή λιγότερο, με καλύτερο χρόνο το 1.95” στο GP Ιαπωνίας. Έτσι η Ferrari έκλεισε το 2013 με μέσο όρο 2,78 δευτερόλεπτα ανά πιτ στοπ.
Εξίσου καλοί είναι και οι χρόνοι αντίδρασης ανάμεσα στους δύο πιλότους της Ferrari, με τον Alonso να έχει καλύτερο χρόνο αντίδρασης αναχώρησης από τα pit, μόλις 0.31” και τον Felipe Massa μόνο 0.27”.
Στη δεύτερη θέση ήταν η Mercedes με 2,95 δευτερόλεπτα, η Red Bull στη τρίτη με 3,05 δευτερόλεπτα και η McLaren με 3,18 δευτερόλεπτα.
