Η Audi ανακοίνωσε και επίσημα πως ο μέχρι σήμερα αρχισχεδιαστής της, Wolfgang Egger αποχωρεί από την Γερμανική εταιρία ώστε να αναλάβει επικεφαλής στον σχεδιαστικό οίκο Italdesign Giugiaro, ο οποίος και αυτός βρίσκεται από το 2010 κάτω από την ομπρέλα του VW Group. O Egger θα αναλάβει τα ηνία του Italdesign Giugiaro από την 1η Φεβρουαρίου 2014.

Ο Egger είναι υπεύθυνος για τον σχεδιασμό των τωρινών A3 και Α6, καθώς και για τα Quattro Concept και E-Tron Concept, ενώ προτού εργαστεί για την Audi είχε περάσει από τις Lancia και Alfa Romeo όπου ήταν υπεύθυνος για την 8C Competizione.

Marc Lichte

Την θέση του ως αρχισχεδιαστής στην Audi θα την αναλάβει ο Marc Lichte, επικεφαλής σχεδιασμού της Volkswagen, ο οποίος βρίσκεται πίσω από τον σχεδιασμό της 7ης γενιάς του VW Golf.

Personnel changes at Audi Design

  • Marc Lichte to become Head of Audi Design in Ingolstadt as of February 1, 2014

Wolfgang Egger (50), Head of Design at Audi since May 2007, is to move to the Audi subsidiary Italdesign Giugiaro S.p.A. as Styling Director with effect as of February 1, 2014. His successor at Audi will be Marc Lichte (44), who is currently in charge of Exterior Design for the Volkswagen brand.

“We will further develop and differentiate the design of our model families. Wolfgang Egger has made valuable contributions to this process in his work at Audi and will continue to deliver important stimulus in the future through his work in Turin,” stated Audi CEO Prof. Rupert Stadler.

Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Board of Management Member for Technical Development, has previously cooperated closely with Marc Lichte in his function as Head of Exterior Design for the Volkswagen brand. “In his work, Marc Lichte places emphasis on expressing the core values of the brand in emotional form and with maximum quality. With a view to Audi’s core competencies such as the quattro drive system and intelligent lightweight construction, that will be an important element of his work,” stated Hackenberg.

With his move to Turin, Wolfgang Egger will be a member of the management team as well as Styling Director of Italdesign, the Italian Audi subsidiary. Italdesign Giugiaro S.p.A. is based in the Turin district of Moncalieri and is a creative think tank for all the brands of the Volkswagen Group. It also provides services to external clients through its Industrial Design unit.

In addition to designing automobiles and other high-value consumer goods, Italdesign’s Engineering unit also develops automotive components through to series maturity. And small series of cars can be produced in its Pre-Series Center.

The Audi subsidiary employs approximately 950 people.
