Μέσα σε 18 χρόνια λειτουργίας, το εργοστάσιο της Audi στο Gyor της Ουγγαρίας κατασκεύασε 20 εκατ. κινητήρες. Ο 20εκατομμυριοστός ήταν έναν 2.0-λιτρος τετρακύλινδρος πετρελαιοκινητήρας common rail απόδοσης 170 ίππων που τοποθετήθηκε σε ένα άσπρο Audi TT Coupe το όποιο κατασκευάστηκε και αυτό στην Ουγγαρία με τον ιδιοκτήτη του να είναι από Βέλγιο.

Ο 20εκατομμυριοστός κινητήρα αποτελεί ένα σύμβολο για τα 18 πετυχημένα χρόνια παραγωγής κινητήρων της Audi στην Ουγγαρία. Σχεδόν όλοι οι κινητήρες που τοποθετούνται στα μοντέλα της Audi προέρχονται από το εργοστάσιο του Gyor, επομένως έχει ιδιαίτερη στρατηγική σημασία για το Audi Group. Το συγκεκριμένο εργοστάσιο διαδραματίζει μείζονα ρόλο στη μακροπρόθεσμη στρατηγική μας ανάπτυξη.

Το εργοστάσιο του Gyor έχει και θα παραμείνει να είναι βασική του αρμοδιότητά η κατασκευή κινητήρων.
Tο εργοστάσιο του Gyor ξεκίνησε την λειτουργία του το 1993 με μια σειρά προ-παραγωγής με την μαζική κατασκευή κινητήρων (4 και 5 βαλβίδων) να ξεκινά το 1994. V6 και V8 κινητήρες ξεκίνησαν να κατασκευάζονται εκεί από το 1997 ενώ ο πρώτος τετρακύλινδρος σε σειρά πετρελαιοκινητήρας που κατασκευάστηκε εκεί ήταν το 2000. Ο κινητήρας ορόσημο, ο 2.0-λιτρος τετρακύλινδρος πετρελαίου common rail ξεκίνησε να κατασκευάζεται το 2007. Συνολικά 2.300 μονάδες, 1.6-λίτρων και 2.0-λίτρων τετρακύλινδρων πετρελαιοκινητήρων common rail κατασκευάζονται στο εργοστάσιο του Gyor κάθε μέρα. Το 2007 ξεκίνησε εκεί και η κατασκευή του V10 ενώ το 2008 η κατασκευή του V12 twin-turbo.
Συνολικά 3.950 άτομα εργάζονται στο εργοστάσιο και κατασκευάζει συνολικά 270 κινητήρες. Από μικρούς τετρακύλινδρους 75 ίππων έως και τον θηριώδη V12 των 570 ίππων. Οι κινητήρες τοποθετούνται σε περισσότερα από 40 μοντέλα του VW Group.
Η Audi συνεχίζει να έχει ως στόχο την κατασκευή κινητήρων με μικρή κατανάλωση και μικρές εκπομπές CO2. Μέχρι στιγμής διαθέτει 54 κινητήρες που εκπέμπουν λιγότερο από 140 γρ/χλμ CO2, περισσότερους από κάθε άλλο κατασκευαστή. Με τους 17 εξ’αυτών σε συνδυασμό με αυτόματα κιβώτια ταχυτήτων να εκπέμπουν λιγότερα από 120 γρ/χλμ CO2.

20 million engines produced in Győr

Audi Hungaria has been a successful manufacturer and supplier of high-tech engines for 18 years. Today the 20 millionth engine rolled off the production line in Győr. The unit is a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder common rail diesel engine with 125 kW (170 hp) that was installed in a white Audi TT Coupé in Audi Hungaria’s vehicle assembly facility. The sports car with the milestone engine is destined for the Belgian market.
“The 20 millionth engine is a symbol for 18 years of successful engine production by Audi Hungaria. Nearly all the engines installed in Audi models come from Győr,” says Frank Dreves, Member of the Board of Management for Production at AUDI AG and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft. “Audi Hungaria therefore has a special strategic significance within the Audi Group. This company plays a major role in our long-term growth strategy,” continues Dreves.
Thomas Faustmann, Managing Director of Audi Hungaria, adds: “Engine production is and will remain our core competence. It is our guarantee for success, which is based on the premium quality of our engines, our flexible team and constant technological advancement.”
3,950 direct employees currently work at the engine production facility in Győr. 270 engine variants roll off the assembly lines there, from four-cylinder to 12-cylinder units with outputs ranging from 55 kW/75 hp to 419 kW/570 hp. The engines are installed in more than 40 models of the entire Volkswagen Group at 26 locations worldwide.
“20 million engines – that is a testament to the outstanding performance of our employees. We will expand our product range with additional highly efficient engines and expand the existing production segments to thus offer our employees long-term prospects,” says Achim Heinfling, Managing Director for Production at Audi Hungaria.
Audi continues to lower fuel consumption. The Company now has 54 engine and transmission combinations that emit less than 140 grams CO2 per kilometer (225.31 g/mile) in its lineup – more than any other premium manufacturer. 17 engine and transmission combinations are under 120 grams CO2 per kilometer (193.12 g/mile).
Engine production in Győr began in 1993 with a pre-production series, and series production of the four-cylinder, five-valve engine began in 1994. Audi Hungaria has been producing V6 and V8 engines since 1997, and four-cylinder inline diesel engines since 2000.
The milestone engine is a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder TDI. Series production of the new four-cylinder common rail diesel engines began in 2007. Common rail injection broadens the range of high-torque yet high-efficiency and low-emission TDI engines offered by Audi and Volkswagen. 2,300 units of just the 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter versions of the four-cylinder diesel engines with common rail injection are produced in Győr each day.
The Company also began producing ten-cylinder, twin-turbo engines in 2007 and 12-cylinder engines in 2008. The Engine Development Center has supported engine production with on-site development activities accompanying production since 2001. With the opening of the new Engine Startup Center in 2010, the experts began concentrating on the production of experimental engines, in particular, in addition to production engines.
