Οι κινητήρες του νέου Toyota RAV4 στην Ευρώπη, ετοιμάζεται υβριδική έκδοση, στόχος οι 200.000 πωλήσεις

H τέταρτη γενιά του Toyota RAV4 παρουσιάστηκε τη περασμένη εβδομάδα κατά τη διάρκεια της έκθεσης του Los Angeles και σήμερα, η Toyota Ευρώπης ανακοίνωσε τους κινητήρες που το SUV θα είναι διαθέσιμο στην Ευρώπη.

Στην Αγγλία οι πωλήσεις θα ξεκινήσουν από την 1 Μαρτίου του 2013 και θα είναι διαθέσιμο με τρεις κινητήρες. Από τον ολοκαίνουργιο 2,0-λιτρο D-4D diesel, τον 2,2-λίτρων D-4D diesel με 150 άλογα και τον 2,0-λιτρο Valvematic βενζίνης απόδοσης 158 ίππων.

Ο 2,0-λιτρος D-4D diesel θα είναι διαθέσιμος αποκλειστικά σε μπροστοκίνητη έκδοση και συνδυάζεται με ένα 6-τάχυτο μηχανικό κιβώτιο. Ο 2,2-λίτρων D-4D diesel συνδυάζεται είτε με ένα 6-τάχυτο είτε με ένα 6-τάχυτο αυτόματο κιβώτιο με την κίνηση να στέλνεται είτε στους μπροστά είτε σε όλους τους τροχούς. Τέλος ο 2,0-λιτρος βενζινοκινητήρας θα συνδυάζεται με ένα CVT κιβώτιο το οποίο θα στέλνει την κίνηση σε όλους τους τροχούς.

Η Toyota έχει βάλει στόχο να πουλά 200.000 RAV4 ετησίως, αρχής γενομένης από το 2013, ενώ εξετάζεται και υβριδική έκδοση η οποία θα βγει στην αγορά μέσα στα επόμενα 2 χρόνια.

Στις σχετικές ειδήσεις, η Toyota προσφέρει κίνητρα εθελοντικής αποχώρησης στους υπαλλήλους της στην Αμερική, αφού θέλει να μειώσει τους εργαζομένους της κατά 10%. Έτσι περίπου 2.000 υπάλληλοι θα συνταξιοδοτηθούν πρόωρα και απευθύνεται σε εκείνους που εργάζονται για περισσότερα από 22 χρόνια στην εταιρία.

Toyota’s new RAV4 range offers more models to choose from, higher equipment specifications and lower emissions across the board, yet the line-up starts at a much lower price than the model it replaces.

Available to order now, with first customer deliveries from 1 March next year, the fourth generation RAV4 benefits from Toyota’s new focus on designing and engineering cars that have more distinctive looks and deliver a more rewarding driving experience. It also addresses growing customer demand for more on-board space – both for passengers and their luggage.

The new model will be available in both two (front) and all-wheel drive across three new grades: Active, Icon and Invincible.

Entry point is the new 2.0 D-4D Active 2WD version, available at £22,595 on-the-road. Both this model and the more highly specified 2.0 D-4D Icon 2WD (£24,295) undercut the current XTR 2.2 D-4D 2WD on price. At the same time, both also maintain high equipment specifications: Active grade comes with 17-inch alloys, air conditioning, Bluetooth, electric windows front and rear, rear privacy glass and front fog lights; the Icon spec’ includes a powered tailgate (now top-hinged for easier loading), a folding function on the powered door mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, part-leather instrument panel trim and dual-zone automatic air conditioning. The Toyota Touch multimedia touchscreen system also features on Icon models, with a DAB digital tuner, rear-view camera and Bluetooth.

At the top of the range the new Invincible adds more premium equipment features such as roof rails, leather upholstery, heated front seats, rear parking sensors and Smart Entry and Start. Further supporting new RAV4’s wider appeal, Invincible grade offers the choice of six-speed manual as well as automatic transmission.

The new RAV4 delivers lasting ownership cost benefits, demonstrated by its new 2.0-litre D-4D diesel engine, which takes the 2WD models’ CO₂ emissions down to a new low of 127g/km, attracting a zero road tax charge in the first year of ownership. For company car drivers, there’s an added bonus in a lower benefit-in-kind rating, down to 16 per cent for vehicles registered from March next year.

Lower emissions are also achieved by both the 2.2-litre D-4D diesel and 2.0-litre Valvematic petrol engines that are carried forward from the current line-up.

New RAV4 – grade structure and key features

Options

A range of options and two option packs will be available for new RAV4, giving owners a cost-effective way of adding extra style, comfort and equipment to their vehicle.

The Toyota Touch touchscreen control system on the Icon and Invincible models can be upgraded to Touch & Go, adding satellite navigation and on-board connectivity to Google Local Search (with appropriate mobile phones and service plans) with access to useful applications for more detailed local information and resources. These models can also be equipped with a sunroof.

Leather upholstery can be specified for the Active and Icon models, while Invincible owners can take advantage of Toyota’s advanced safety technology by adding the Lane Departure Warning and Blind Spot Monitor systems.

A Style Pack, comprising a front guard plate, side steps and front and rear scuff plates, is available for the Icon and Invincible, while a Protection Pack (front and rear parking sensors and a rear bumper protection plate) can be added
