Μαζί με το αγωνιστικό Polo R WRC, η Volkswagen παρουσίασε και την έκδοση δρόμου του, το Polo R WRC Street που πρωτοείδαμε στο φετινό Wörthersee.
Μηχανικά φορά τον 2.0-λιτρο TSI κινητήρα απόδοσης 220 ίππων με 350 Nm ροπής. Τα 0-100 χλμ/ώρα τα κάνει σε 6,4 δευτερόλεπτα με τελική ταχύτητα 243 χλμ/ώρα. Ο κινητήρας συνδυάζεται με ένα 6-τάχυτο μηχανικό κιβώτιο που στέλνει την κίνηση στους μπροστά τροχούς.
Στιλιστικά φορά νέο bodykit εμπνευσμένο από αυτό του αγωνιστικού WRC, αποτελούμενο από νέους προφυλακτήρες, αεροτομή, διαχύτη, σπορ αναρτήσεις και ζάντες 18″. Τα φρένα του αποτελούνται από δίσκους 16″ μπροστά με μπλε δαγκάνες και στον βασικό εξοπλισμό διαθέτει τα Bi-Xenon φωτιστικά σώματα.
Το Polo WRC Street είναι βαμμένο σε λευκό χρώμα με μπλε και ασημί λεπτομέρειες, στα χρώματα του αγωνιστικού, και στο εσωτερικό διαθέτει σπορ bucket καθίσματα επενδυμένα με δέρμα και Alcantara με μπλε και ασημί ραφές, νέο πίνακα οργάνων και νέο τιμόνι επενδυμένο με μαύρη Alcantara ενώ πάνω του υπάρχει και το λογότυπο του WRC.
Θα περάσει σε περιορισμένη παραγωγή 2.500 αυτοκίνητων με τις πωλήσεις του να ξεκινούν από τις 11 Δεκεμβρίου του 2012 με τα πρώτα αυτοκίνητα να παραδίδονται τον Σεπτέμβριο του 2013.

World premiere number two: the street version of the Polo R WRC
Together with the Polo R WRC (315 hp, 0–100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, 1,200 kg) for the World Rally Championship, Volkswagen also presented the production counterpart and namesake of the rally car in Monaco: the Polo R WRC Street. The civilian version of the rally beast possesses an imposing exterior, with its white paint job, blue/grey stripes, WRC-style bumpers and 18-inch alloy rims. Under the bonnet, the Polo R WRC boasts a powerful drive train: the 2.0-litre TSI engine generates 162 kW (220 hp), produces 350 Nm of torque and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds. The Polo R WRC Street goes on sale on 11 December 2012, with the first cars delivered in September 2013.

FROM THE RALLY COURSE STRAIGHT TO THE STREETS: THE PRODUCTION CAR
Concept
The Polo R WRC Street is the production version of the vehicle that Volkswagen will be using in the World Rally Championship. The unique and distinctive model brings the racing sport technology of a World Rally Car (WRC) straight to the streets. From September 2013, a limited run of 2,500 models of the top athlete will be available to buy.
ENGINE
BODYWORK
With the white paintwork, the blue and grey striped trim, and the bumpers in the WRC design, the Polo R WRC bridges the gap to the rally car driven by Sébastien Ogier and Jari-Matti Latvala in the World Rally Championship. Even on the production model, optimal aerodynamics are assured by a lowered front spoiler with large air inlets, a spoiler on the rear edge of the roof and a diffusor in the lower tail area. Standard Bi-Xenon headlights turn night into day.
CHASSIS/TECHNOLOGY
The Polo R WRC Street runs on 18-inch alloy wheels. A special sports chassis lowers the bodywork and reduces the roll when negotiating bends at speed. Even when it comes to the handling, the car brings a real racing sport feeling to the streets. The blue brake calipers signalise at first glance how much power lies under the bonnet. 16-inch disc brakes at the front and rear provide precision control.
