Στη δημοπρασία του Barrett-Jackson εκτός από την πρώτη Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, πουλήθηκε και το αυθεντικό Batmobile του 1966. Νικητής ο Rick Champagne από την Αριζόνα, ο οποίος έδωσε 4,62 εκατ. δολάρια ώστε να το κάνει δικό του.
Το αυθεντικό Batmobile του 1966 ήταν του George Barris. στην ουσία ήταν το one-off f Lincoln Futura concept του 1955 το οποίο σχεδιάστηκε από τους Bill Schmidt, Doug Poole Sr. και John Najjar, επικεφαλή σχεδίασης τότε της Ford. Το σώμα του είναι κατασκευασμένο από την Ghia στο Τορίνο της Ιταλίας και παρουσιάστηκε στην έκθεση του Σικάγο το 1955.
