Το Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο της Ένωσης Ευρωπαίων Κατασκευαστών Αυτοκινήτων (ACEA, European Automobile Manufacturer’s Association), εξέλεξε τον Carlos Ghosn, πρόεδρο και CEO της Renault ως τον νέο της Πρόεδρο.
Ο Ghosn αντικαθιστά τον Philippe Varin, πρώην πρόεδρο της PSA Peugeot-Citroen με την αλλαγή να ισχύει άμεσα. Ο Γενικός Γραμματέας της ACEA, Erik Jonnaert δήλωσε επί του θέματος:
Ο κύριος Ghosn θα ηγηθεί της ACEA κατά τη διάρκεια μίας σημαντικής περιόδου πολιτικής μετάβασης στην Ευρώπη. Κατά τη θητεία του, η ACEA θα συνεχίσει να εστιάζει στις κεντρικές προτάσεις της που είναι η καινοτομία, η εξέλιξη μέσω διεθνούς εμπορίου και η ανάγκη για υποστήριξη μέσω ενός ελεγκτικού πλαισίου. Brussels, 12 May 2014 – The Board of Directors of the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) has elected Carlos Ghosn, Chairman and CEO of Renault, as its new President.
Mr Ghosn takes over from Philippe Varin, former Chairman of the Board of Management of PSA Peugeot Citroën. This change is effective immediately.
ACEA Secretary General Erik Jonnaert said: “Mr Ghosn will lead ACEA through an important period of political transition in Europe. Under his presidency, ACEA will continue to focus on its key policy recommendations, which are to drive innovation, to foster growth through international trade and to call for a supportive regulatory framework. On behalf of ACEA’s Board, we wish to thank Mr Varin for his strong leadership of the association over the past months.”

About Carlos Ghosn
Carlos Ghosn joined Michelin in 1978 as Plant Manager in Le Puy, France, before being appointed Head of Research and Development for industrial tyres in Ladoux, France. He became Chief Operating Officer of Michelin’s South American operations, then Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Michelin North America in 1990.
Mr Ghosn joined Renault as Executive Vice President in 1996 and was appointed Chief Operating Officer of Nissan Motors in June 1999, thereafter becoming President in 2000 and Chief Executive Officer in 2001. Mr Ghosn has been Chairman and CEO of Renault since May 2005. He remains President and CEO of Nissan, and Chairman and CEO of Renault Nissan Alliance.
Carlos Ghosn was previously ACEA President in 2009.
