TORRANCE, Calif., October 27, 2014 — The 2015 Tundra TRD Pro Desert Race Truck will not be alone when it heads down to Ensenada, Mexico to compete in the 47th Tecate SCORE Baja 1000. Three specially prepared chase trucks built by renowned off-road fabricator N-Fab will support the Tundra race truck in attacking the notoriously difficult desert race. The Baja 1000 is known for its penchant for breaking down both man and machine, making support vehicles all the more crucial for survival let alone victory.

“With over 1,000 miles of harsh terrain, the Baja 1000 is the ultimate proving grounds for research and development; it helps us to continuously improve our trucks,” said Mike Sweers, chief engineer of Toyota Pickup Trucks. “This race will not only test the race truck, but the three chase trucks as well. All of the trucks have to be up to the task in order to finish this tough race.”

Winning off-road races is not something new for Toyota or Toyota Racing Development (TRD). Toyota’s off-road racing heritage is one of utter dominance over the competition — 303 off-road wins, 27 manufacturer’s championships and 28 off-road driver’s championships. At the helm of his famously indestructible Toyota trophy trucks, Ivan “Ironman” Stewart captured 11 Baja 500 and two Baja 1000 wins. He’ll serve as the race team’s coach and mentor as they head down to connect past and present in Baja.

The build shop at N-Fab equipped all three trucks to traverse Baja’s diverse terrain, carry gear that may be needed in a pinch and facilitate constant radio communication. “It’s a big deal for N-Fab and a big deal for TRD,” said N-Fab CEO Thomas Fichter. “We’re excited to go out there and prove that Toyota and the TRD Pro line of components are worthy for the off-road market.”

The TRD chase trucks can be seen alongside the Toyota Tundra Trophy Truck that Ironman Stewart piloted to numerous victories from November 4-7 at the 2014 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show. The Toyota display booth (#24700) is located in the Central Hall.

Widebody DUB Edition Sienna and Yaris Debut at SEMA

Toyota Sienna and Yaris Get the DUB Treatment

2014 SEMA: 2015 Toyota Sienna DUB Edition Fact Sheet

2014 SEMA: 2015 Toyota Yaris DUB Edition Fact Sheet

TORRANCE, Calif., Oct. 27, 2014 — DUB Magazine’s latest creations, the DUB Edition Sienna and DUB Edition Yaris, will be on display this year at Toyota’s 2014 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) booth highlighting the versatility of Toyota’s vehicles.

“We’re thrilled with how both of these project vehicles turned out,” said Toyota Engagement Marketing and Motorsports National Manager Steve Appelbaum. “Myles Kovacs and the team at DUB have created two stunning vehicles that speak to the different ways our cars can be personalized in the hands of creative artists.”

The most striking modification to both the DUB Edition Sienna and Yaris is the customized widebody fender flares that dramatically change their profiles. The “DUB look” is aggressive yet clean at the same time. “We wanted these two cars to be wider, sleeker and lower, yet modest enough to look as if they rolled out of the factory this way,” said Kovacs. Designed by DUB and built by 3D Conceptz, the Sienna widebody kit allows for larger 22” x 10.5” TIS536 wheels. On the Yaris, DUB collaborated with TS Designs to replace the front and rear fenders to accommodate a set of 20” x 10” Dropstars DS643 wheels. Featuring a lower suspension setup, TRD Big Brake Kits and custom paint jobs, both vehicles exude the signature swagger for which DUB’s builds are known.

Both the Sienna and Yaris feature custom interiors including carbon-fiber and color-matched accents, aftermarket headliners and new seats. The star of their interiors is the DUB Edition audio package. In the Sienna, this includes six amps, 12 speakers, a custom fiberglass enclosure and six headrest monitors. The Yaris packs in three amps, six speakers, a custom fiberglass enclosure and an iPad to control the system.

When asked what his vision was when designing the pair of vehicles, Kovacs explained that his mindset was “to take it as an art form and express something that I would want to drive every day.”

The DUB Edition Sienna and Yaris can be seen November 4-7 in the Toyota display booth (#24700) located in the Central Hall at the 2014 SEMA Show.

Toyota’s Mobile DJ Sienna Set to Rock SEMA

Sienna:Remix is a Rolling Party on Wheels

October 27, 2014

2014 SEMA: 2015 Sienna Remix Fact Sheet

TORRANCE, Calif., Oct. 27, 2014 — The Sienna is famous for being the perfect vehicle for family road trips, hauling the kids to soccer practice and the weekly grocery restocking ritual. And thanks to West Coast Customs and SiriusXM, the Sienna can add rocking a party to the aforementioned list.

“The Sienna:Remix celebrates the large part that music plays in our lives, at all stages,” said Toyota Engagement Marketing and Motorsports National Manager, Steve Appelbaum. “It also reinforces our message in the ‘Swagger Wagon’ campaigns — that the life-changing role of being a parent doesn’t mean the end of fun as we know it. It’s more fun with more family members added to the mix,” he continued, “and that’s when the Sienna’s power sliding doors really come in handy.”

To keep the surprise factor, the exterior of the Sienna:Remix is fairly close to factory. Custom mesh wheels, blacked-out grille and color-matched emblems give a subtle hint to what’s in store. Hit a few switches and the Sienna:Remix shows its true intentions in a series of motorized reveals that leave spectators stunned. A 360-degree A/V column consisting of two 40” LCD monitors, four 12” subwoofers,16 speakers and two LED bars rises out of the roof like something out of the latest installment of The Transformers.” The trunk opens revealing not bags full of organic groceries, but a fully functional DJ booth including eight more speakers and plug-in access to the beastly audio system. Hiding inside are five amplifiers and two 32-band equalizers, giving the Sienna:Remix both ample power and sound quality to make this year’s PTA fundraiser the hottest spot in town.

The Sienna:Remix can be seen November 4-7 in the Toyota display booth (#24700) located in the Central Hall at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show.

FT-1 Concept Car to Make SEMA Show Appearance

Toyota Global Design’s ‘Spiritual Pacecar’ Shows Its Refined Side

October 27, 2014

2014 SEMA: Toyota FT-1 Concept Car Fact Sheet

TORRANCE, Calif., Oct. 27, 2014 — Sports car enthusiasts attending the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show this year will have a chance to see the concept vehicle that has taken the automotive world by storm since its January debut. Toyota’s FT-1 has captured the imagination of car enthusiasts since debuting at the North American International Auto Show. In August, Toyota wowed the world again with a second upscale interpretation of the FT-1. Featuring graphite exterior paint and light saddle-colored leather, the concept vehicle went on display for the first time at the Gordon McCall’s Motorworks Revival gala held on California’s Monterey Peninsula.

“Showing the FT-1 at SEMA makes perfect sense,” said Steve Appelbaum, Toyota’s engagement marketing and motorsports national manager. “SEMA attracts enthusiasts who live, eat and breathe performance.” Labeled the spiritual pace car for the new direction of Toyota Global Design, the FT-1’s muscular exterior builds on Toyota’s rich sports coupe heritage dating back to the 2000GT, Celica, Supra, MR2 and, most recently, the Scion FR-S.

SOPHISTICATION AND VERSATILITY This second concept car raises the bar by infusing an aura of refinement to accompany the FT-1’s unbridled performance intent. Whereas the first FT-1 concept stunned in bold red and black, this second FT-1 concept vehicle impresses in an opulent graphite and saddle color palette. The intention was to showcase the versatility of the FT-1 concept by using color choice to create a more sophisticated feeling.

“In the color studio we help create the atmosphere of the vehicle,” said Sellene Lee, creative designer at Calty Design, who was responsible for the color concepts on both FT-1 iterations. Details such as using an all-natural-grain saddle leather on the seats, painted brown edges on the interior and the use of raised metal mesh and accents work together to maintain the same “in the zone” driving intention of the first FT-1 vehicle, “while bringing in a more premium feeling.”

Starting November 4th, the FT-1 can be seen along with fourteen other custom-built Toyota project vehicles in the Toyota display booth (#24700) located in the Central Hall at the 2014 SEMA Show.
