Η Nissan παρουσίασε πριν λίγα λεπτά το το LMP1 αγωνιστικό με το οποίο θα συμμετέχει στο φετινό 24ώρο αγώνα του Le Mans. Με το GT-R LM Nismo, η ιαπωνική εταιρία δηλώνει ότι είναι έτοιμη να τα βάλει με τους καλύτερους κατασκευαστές σπορ αυτοκινήτων στον κόσμο, το οποίο μας το έδειξε κατά τη διάρκεια του διαφημιστικού της για το φετινό Super Bowl.
Κάνοντας μια αρκετά τολμηρή κίνηση, ο Ιάπωνας κατασκευαστής ερμήνευσε τους τεχνικούς κανονισμούς του διάσημου αγώνα αντοχής με καινοτόμο τρόπο, τοποθετώντας τον κινητήρα εμπρός, με την κίνηση να στέλνεται στους εμπρός τροχούς, μέσω ενός 3-λίτρου V6 twin turbo κινητήρα βενζίνης 600 ίππων, με περιεχόμενη γωνία 60 μοιρών, και ενός συστήματος ανάκτησης κινητικής ενέργειας. Τόσο το KERS, όσο και ο βενζινοκινητήρας, τοποθετούνται μπροστά από την καμπίνα, με τον λόγο για αυτή τη περίεργη διάταξη να είναι η καλύτερη κατανομή βάρους και συνδυάζεται με την αεροδυναμική του πρωτότυπου. 
Σχεδιαστικά φέρει αρκετές λύσεις που είχαν παρουσιαστεί στο Deltawing, με το 5-τάχυτο κιβώτιο να βρίσκεται πολύ μπροστά, σχεδόν στη μύτη του αυτοκινήτου, και εκτός από τον μεταφορά της δύναμης στους τροχούς, κινεί και ένα ζεύγος flywheels (βολάν) του Flybrid KERS των 8 Megajoule, που βρίσκονται κάτω από τα πόδια του οδηγού. Αυτά τα flywheels δίνουν κίνηση στους πίσω τροχούς για 3-4 δευτερόλεπτα με δύναμη έως 1000 άλογα (!!), με τις αρχικές εκτιμήσεις της εταιρίας να έλεγαν ότι η συνδυαστική ιπποδύναμη του GT-R LM πλησιάζει τα 2.000 άλογα, αλλά για θέματα αξιοπιστίας περιορίστηκαν στα 1.500 άλογα. Φυσικά, τα εμπρός ελαστικά είναι πολύ φαρδύτερα από τα αντίστοιχα του πίσω άξονα, αντιδιαμετρικά αντίθετα με ότι συμβαίνει σε όλα τα υπόλοιπα αγωνιστικά της κατηγορίας. 
Το νέο αυτοκίνητο θα ξεκινήσει τη καριέρα του από τον αγώνα του Silverstone στις 12 Απριλίου 2015, μετά θα ακολουθήσει το Spa στο Βέλγιο, έπειτα στο Le Mans και το Nürburgring της Γερμανίας, για να φύγει από την Ευρώπη και να πάει στις ΗΠΑ, την Ιαπωνία, την Κίνα και τη Μέση Ανατολή. Τέλος, η Nissan ανακοίνωσε τον πρώτο οδηγό για το GT-R LM Nismo που δεν είναι άλλος από τον νικητή του Le Mans το 2009 με την Peugeot, Marc Gene.
