Panda 4×4 Antartica

Φυσικά, και αυτή η ειδική έκδοση διαθέτει όλα τα πλεονεκτήματα του μοντέλου 4×4, το οποίο πέρυσι κατέκτησε τον τιμητικό τίτλο “SUV of the Year 2012” από το βρετανικό περιοδικό Top Gear.

(συνδυασμένος κύκλος δοκιμών) και 99 g/km CO2

  • A special series to celebrate 30 years of success for the only 4×4 in the city car segment
  • Two-tone bodywork and orange detailing for an attractive and distinctive look
  • On sale by the end of the year in a limited edition

More than 400,000 units sold, 3 generations and various successful special series: from its launch in 1983 to the present day, the Panda 4×4 is a unique concept that stands out from the crowd. To celebrate its 30th birthday, the new Panda Antartica will make its debut in Frankfurt: a Limited Edition based on the 4×4 Rock trim level, a vehicle which is beating the sales records of previous generations with a mix of 15% in Europe.

The new special series is characterised, on the outside, by its two-tone bodywork – white with a black roof – as well as several distinguishing features which give even more personality to the little 4×4 city car: grey diamond finish 15″ alloy rims, orange hub caps, fog lights, Privacy windows, orange mirror fairings and a special badge on the central pillar.

The interior features stylish grey and orange upholstery, with the Panda’s well loved versatility and passenger compartment comfort once again guaranteed by the 3 seater rear seat with 60/40 folding backrests and the height adjustable driver’s seat as standard.

On sale in this limited edition by the end of the year, the Fiat Panda 4×4 Antartica will be available with the 0.9 TwinAir Turbo 85 HP and the diesel 1.3 MultiJet II 75 HP engine options, both fitted with the Start&Stop system.

Of course, the Special Series features all of the strengths of the 4×4 model, which last year was awarded the prestigious title of ‘SUV of the Year 2012’ by the UK’s Top Gear magazine. Starting with the adoption of the “torque on demand” drive system, which is activated automatically when needed, so you can tackle any driving situation in complete cool. The Panda 4×4 also features the ESC (Electronic Stability Control) system with ELD (Electronic Locking Differential) function as standard. This system provides additional assistance while driving and setting off on slippery terrain.

The Panda Antartica offers all the dynamics and comfort you need to complete long and challenging routes, thanks above all to the revised suspension – an independent MacPherson wheel arrangement at the front and interconnected wheels with torsion beam layout at the rear – and to the 6-speed gearbox with low first gear combined with the TwinAir Turbo engine, to accentuate the model’s off-road features, ensuring optimum set-off during hill starts.

To ensure maximum grip on any surface, the new model benefits from specifically developed 175/65 R15 84T M+S winter tyres and is the only city car to offer them as standard. The special Snow Flake tyres are designed to be used not only on ice and snow, but on roads and dirt tracks as well. This means that traction capacity on poor-grip surfaces is 20% better than the previous model. And it should be noted that this ultimate flexibility of use does not affect fuel consumption or running costs since, in pure ‘Simply More’ style, the Panda 4×4 Antartica customer does not have to worry about replacing the set of tyres with every change of season.

The new additions to the 500 family

  • The debut on the 500 range of the 105HP 0.9 TwinAir power unit, technology and efficiency with no need to compromise on performance: 88 km/h top speed, 0 to 100 km/h in 10 seconds, consumption of 4.2 litres/100 km (combined cycle) and 99 g/km of CO2
  • Debut of the new 1.6 MultiJet II 120HP and 1.4 T-Jet 120HP engine versions for the 500L, 500L Trekking and 500L Living

  • The spotlight will also be on the Fiat 500e, the electric version available in California

105 HP 0.9 TwinAir on the entire Fiat 500 range

On sale by the end of the year on the entire Fiat 500 range, the 105 HP 0.9 TwinAir, distinguished by its dazzling personality and low consumption. Combined with the 6-speed manual gearbox, the engine generates 105 HP at 5500 rpm, and offers maximum torque of 145 Nm at 2000 rpm (more than 80% of the maximum torque is already available from 1750 rpm). This is the source of the Fiat 500 105 HP 0.9 TwinAir’s performance: 188 km/h top speed and 0 to 100 km/h in just 10 seconds. And all this in light of the vehicle’s consumption and CO2 emissions, which are among the lowest in its class: 4.2 litres/100 km and 99 g/km on the combined type-approval cycle respectively. Remarkably, emissions are so low that this vehicle already complies with the European standards for 2020 today.

The new member of the TwinAir engine family combines the concept of downsizing (reduction of displacement and weight) with sophisticated engineering such as supercharging through a high efficiency turbocharger, the exhaust manifold integration in the cylinder head and the brand-new MultiAir 2 intake valve control system.

The second generation of MultiAir further optimises the engine’s thermo-dynamic efficiency by modulating the amount of exhaust gases recirculated in the combustion chamber (internal EGR) thanks to a brand-new design of the intake cam profile.

The exhaust manifold in the cylinder head instead reduces the temperature of the exhaust gases (which are directly cooled by the engine cooling system).

This has a positive impact on fuel consumption particularly in the most demanding conditions because the enrichments otherwise necessary to keep down the maximum temperatures of the combustion gases are reduced in order to preserve correct turbocharger operation. Furthermore, some of the exhaust gas heat which would otherwise be wasted into the environment can be exploited to warm up the engine. In this manner, the thermal transient is reduced and the time for which the engine runs at optimal temperature is increased. This results in particularly advantageous fuel consumption and CO2 emissions on the type-approval cycle.

Finally, as on the previous Turbo TwinAir applications, ECO mode upon start is also available for the Fiat 500: in this condition the maximum torque delivered is limited to 120 Nm and the power to 98 HP, allowing the power unit to function in the operating range which permits maximum efficiency and thus minimum emissions. Furthermore, the model comes with Start&Stop as standard.

The TwinAir is a technological gem in terms of ride comfort too, secured by using a balancing countershaft and dual mass flywheel. Particular attention was also paid to improving the soundproofing by studying containment solutions to reduce the levels of noise perceived in the passenger compartment and to improving the articulation index.

The 1.6 MultiJet II and the 1.4 T-Jet: 120 HP for the 500L, 500L Trekking and the 500L Living

Offering a timely solution to the diverse needs of the European markets, the 500L, 500L Trekking and the 500L Living are extending their range to include two new engines, offering 120 HP: the 1.6 MultiJet II turbodiesel and the dazzling 1.4 T-Jet petrol. Both engine versions will be on sale by the end of the year.

The 120 HP 1.4 T-Jet engine is characterised by its prompt acceleration, sturdiness and reliability. It is the ideal engine for those in search of a car that can handle city traffic effortlessly while keeping running costs to a minimum. This version is fitted with the Start&Stop system as standard, which in the city makes it possible to cut consumption and emission levels drastically, without compromising comfort and on-board safety.

In detail, the 1.4 16v T-Jet develops 120 HP (88 kW) of maximum power achieved at 5000 rpm and it has a max torque of 206 Nm at 1750 rpm. This ensures high driving flexibility, reduced use of the gearbox and great response. This is aided by the low inertia of the turbocharger, which makes it possible to obtain maximum performance from a throttle command, without the annoying lag typical of this type of engine.

With the new 120 HP 1.6 MultiJet II, the Fiat 500L ensures optimum dynamic performance with low fuel consumption and reduced emissions. What’s more, just like other diesel versions, the 1.6 MultiJet II requires routine servicing every 35,000 km (or two years) to be kept in perfect working order.

Using a small-sized variable geometry turbocharger means delivering high torque at low rpm (320 Nm at 1750 rpm) and maximum running flexibility. But the heart of the 120 HP 1.6 MultiJet II engine is without a doubt the third-generation Common Rail injection system, which uses innovative injectors to control the amount of diesel injected into the combustion chamber with utmost precision, with a particularly quick and flexible injection sequence thanks to the balanced hydraulic servo valve.

In detail, the new injectors can manage up to eight injections per stroke and actuate increasingly advanced strategies focused on optimising the combustion, such as the Injection Rate Shaping (IRS) system which involves two consecutive injections so close together in time as to generate a continuous and modulated fuel supply into the cylinders. Thanks to this method, the combustion process is improved, all to the benefit of quieter operation and particulate and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions. Furthermore, the new injection system is even simpler and more reliable because the injectors have a simpler structure with 40% fewer components.

Combined with the C635 6-speed manual gearbox, the 120 HP 1.6 MultiJet II engine offers a range of features to save fuel and cut emissions. These include a smart alternator that recovers energy while coasting and stores it in the battery, engine cooling circuit optimisation that reduces the warm-up time and a variable displacement oil pump that adjusts the oil pressure in the most appropriate way, reducing the power consumed by the pump. Naturally the Start&Stop system is included, while the engine and transmission use low viscosity lubricant oil to minimise friction.

The exhaust gas treatment system implements close-coupled DPF technology which efficiently integrates the oxidising catalytic converter and the particulate trap (CCDPF). The component is remarkably compact to reduce exhaust counter-pressure with beneficial effects in terms of fuel reduction and CO2 emissions. The particulate trap is arranged close to the turbocharger outlet to provide averagely hotter gas temperatures near the particulate filter. This reduces the amount of diesel fuel needed for regeneration.

Furthermore, the fact that the two components are integrated reduces the weight of the exhaust system and improves global efficiency. The CCDPF is combined with an evolved gas recirculation system (EGR), in which all sub-components are grouped in a single very small sized part (EGR module).

Fiat 500C GQ

Presented to the public in the cabriolet version for the first time and also available as a saloon, the new Fiat 500 GQ is the new special series, the result of a collaboration with Gentleman’s Quarterly, the men’s magazine published by Condé Nast that each month dictates style and cultural trends worldwide.

The fruit of a partnership with the world-famous men’s magazine, the Fiat 500 GQ is dedicated to the metropolitan man of the third millennium: a fan of sophisticated aesthetics and uncompromising style, he’s a young customer who’s always connected to his own web community, who enjoys what life throws his way to the full, experiencing the fun, the culture, and the social life of the modern city.

The Fiat 500 GQ can be equipped with a 69 HP 1.2, 85 HP 0.9 TwinAir or a 100 HP 1.4 petrol engine, as well as the 95 HP 1.3 MultiJet turbodiesel, all combined with a manual gearbox. Available soon the new 105 HP 0.9 TwinAir.

The new special series offers two-tone metallic paintwork with roof and waistline in Vesuvio Black and body in Colosseo Grey, satin mirror fairings, special diamond design 16″ alloy wheels and the ‘GQ’ logo on the pillar, as well as orange 500 logo on the hub caps, cosmetic grey liner and orange brake calipers (only on the 100 HP 1.4 engine version). Completing the look of the new special series are the side skirts, sports bumpers, spoiler and Privacy windows.

There’s also a special 500 logo located on the dashboard and the black Frau leather seats with contrasting orange stitching. The new upholstery was designed to offer the best possible ergonomics, guaranteeing comfort and character in a single solution. The internal look of the ‘Gentleman’s Car’ is completed by the sports pedal unit with aluminium effect and the special leather gear knob covered entirely in black leather. The rest is made even more interesting by lavish standard equipment that includes manual climate control system, radio CD/Mp3 and Blue&MeTM hands-free system with Bluetooth technology complete with steering wheel controls.

The Fiat 500e

After its European debut at the Geneva Motor Show 2013, the 500e will be at Frankfurt together with the rest of the 500 family. The small, zero-emissions electric vehicle is available for purchase only in California (USA) and has already become a phenomenon, with half a million online enquiries.

Designing cars which are compact on the outside and large on the inside, with an empathetic, eco-compatible design yet which are still fun to drive: this is the ‘Simply More’ styling and design approach implemented by the Fiat brand. The same approach was applied to the new 500e, projecting its Italian design into the future, through a silhouette modelled in the wind tunnel and futuristic retro references with a spotted matrix for a look at the very cutting edge. Eight exterior refinements and over 140 hours of testing and honing in the wind tunnel have permitted an aerodynamic improvement of 13%.

Inside, the 500e 2013 merges a futuristic retro design with the unique features of EV (Electric Vehicle) technology, making for a simple yet innovative interior. A new 7″ TFT digital display embellishes the instrument panel where, thanks to clear and accurate colour graphics, all the vehicle functions are displayed, along with the battery charge levels and the trip summary. In addition, a new TomTom navigation system allows the driver to see the vehicle charge programme, the capacity and energy flow measurements, and even find the nearest recharging stations in real time.

Under the dashboard panel, the Fiat 500e 2013 features a new easy-to-use electronic gearbox with a drive selector push-button. And for an additional touch of style, the passenger compartment is available in black or white, all underscored by electric orange features which further accentuate the distinctive personality of this particular 500.

Designed to be an electric vehicle without compromise, the Fiat 500e 2013 relies on the winning formula of offering a compact car – a characteristic trait of the 500 – adding a new electric battery-powered engine which develops a horsepower of 111 (83 kW) and which is recharged in under 4 hours thanks to the 240 V level-2 (OBCM) on-board charging module.

The EPA – the US Environmental Protection Agency – has valued the performance in the extra-urban cycle of the new Fiat 500e: the result is 108 (Miles per gallon equivalent), a value as yet unbeaten by any electric vehicle on the US market. In detail, the MPGe is the measurement unit developed by the EPA to determine how many miles an electric vehicle can cover with a quantity of electricity generated by a battery, with the same energy content as a gallon of petrol.

The tests carried out by the EPA showed that, on a full charge, the Fiat 500e has a range of approximately 140 km (87 miles), the best value among all electric vehicles on the US market produced by the major car manufacturers.

In addition, the Agency estimated the annual cost to power it to be in the region of 500 dollars. This estimate was calculated by forecasting the price of electricity during a mileage of over 24,000 km (15,000 miles) with the performance specifications on the combined urban/extra-urban cycle of the car. The Fiat 500e boasts an index of 116 MPGe on the urban/extra-urban cycle and 122 MPGe on the urban cycle. Lastly, the EPA tests report the car’s energy consumption to be just 29 kW/hour for 100 miles.

Passengers can access information about the Fiat 500e using a new smartphone application, compatible with iPhone and Android, which shows the condition of the car in real time, managing the battery charge levels, recording the energy consumption, locating the car and the nearest battery recharging stations, planning and sending routes for the vehicle and sending text message warnings and notifications.

Lastly, to make sure the new Fiat 500e 2013 offers first-class manoeuvrability and braking capacity, the engineers devised a new chassis and suspension for the electric motor, consolidating the outstanding European driving dynamics for which Fiat and the 500 model are known the world over.

Where growing awareness of environmental issues brings together consumers and governments from the various continents, customer requirements differ considerably due to national culture and policy. This is the reason for the unique alliance between the Fiat and Chrysler groups for the joint development of innovative programmes which satisfy a sustainable custom-made mobility in the various markets in which both groups operate.

For this reason, Chrysler is the centre of expertise for electrifying cars for both Groups, with special focus on marketing these products in the United States where this technology is now consolidated. In Europe, on the other hand, Fiat Group Automobiles pursues the containment of polluting emissions and of the level of CO2 by developing its own technologies (TwinAir, MultiAir and MultiJet II) applied to its petrol and diesel engines, in addition to the distribution of alternative power supplies using methane gas and LPG, which are concrete solutions within everyone’s reach and now available for all.

All of this certainly makes for a unique and exclusive version.

The Fiat Freemont Black Code is the ideal solution for customers who want a family car which still allows them to express their personality. The new version is equipped with a 2.0 MultiJet II 170 HP engine, with FWD and manual gearbox or AWD and automatic transmission, and the AWD 280 HP 3.6 litre petrol engine with automatic transmission.

The Black Code version is a cut above the rest, for a model which has been designed to meet the needs of modern families and those seeking a spacious, comfortable and versatile vehicle to cater for the frenetic pace of everyday life or for their weekend leisure time. The Fiat Freemont further completes the model’s offer, reconfirming its position as “All the cars you want”. Its multifarious soul has led it to win over new customer types from other segments – station wagon, minivan and crossover – combining flexibility and functionality with a distinctive, original style. With all this and more, all trim levels and engine versions are very competitively priced.

The Fiat Freemont range comprises 4 trim levels (Freemont, Urban, Lounge and Black Code), two drive systems (front-wheel or active ‘on demand’ AWD), two transmissions (manual or automatic, both with 6 speeds) and four engine versions: 2.0 MultiJet II 16v with 140 HP or 170 HP and 170 HP 2.4-litre and 280 HP 3.6-litre petrol engines, the latter part of the Chrysler Group’s Pentastar family.

AWD versions always come with 6-speed automatic transmission that ensures excellent performance together with precise and quiet operation, for ultimate comfort and satisfaction at the wheel.
