HRE Wheels Out In Force At 90th Pikes Peak Hill Climb
HRE Equips the Top Competitors at this year’s Pikes Peak Hill Climb
San Diego, Calif. (July, 18 2012) – HRE Wheels will be supporting three completely new vehicles this year at the 90th running of the Pikes Peak Hill Climb on Aug. 12. Rhys Millen, Nobuhiro “Monster” Tajima and newcomer Cody Loveland will be taking to the hill in new vehicles making their debut at this year’s event.
Driver Rhys Millen will be battling in the Time Attack class in his 700-horsepower Hyundai Genesis Formula Drift car modified with a much wider HRE C90 wheel and tire setup filling the fenders of a time attack aero kit. Rhys hopes to outperform his father Rod Millen’s run in the car last year.
HRE has also announced its involvement with LoveFab Inc. and its Pikes Peak Unlimited Class NSX. Driver Cody Loveland will be debuting the latest C96S model on the 850-horsepower twin-turbo Acura NSX set to make its first race at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb
Unlimited Class world record holder Nobuhiro “Monster” Tajima will be taking on a new challenge this year in the Monster Sport E-RUNNER Pikes Peak Special. This one-off electric machine features a carbon fiber monocoque body with a unique bubble top cockpit. Monster will be running the same HRE P43S “Tajima specials” he ran on the Suzuki SX4 that broke the 10-minute barrier.
“We see Pikes Peak as one of the ultimate tests of our product and the machines they are featured on,” said HRE Marketing and Motorsports Manager Mickey Andrade. “We love the event and being part of teams that are really pushing the boundaries of what can be done in a vehicle in extreme conditions.”
