Στο grand prix της Ινδίας, ο 26-χρονος Sebastian Vettel κατέκτησε τον τέταρτο τίτλο της καριέρας του, ισοφαρίζοντας το ρεκόρ του Alain Prost (1985, 1986, 1989, 1993). Ο Γάλλος πολυπρωταθλητής ήταν από τους πρώτους που έσπευσαν να συγχαρούν τον Vettel για το νέο του επίτευγμα, δηλώνοντας μάλιστα πως φέτος είδαμε μερικές από τις καλύτερες νίκες στην καριέρα του Γερμανού:
Είμαι στην ευχάριστη θέση να παρακολουθώ τον Sebastian να κερδίζει τον τίτλο σήμερα. Είναι ένας πάρα πολύ καλός οδηγός και ο ίδιος είχε κάποιες εξαιρετικές νίκες φέτος, μερικές από τις καλύτερες της καριέρας του μέχρι σήμερα. Η Σιγκαπούρη ήταν μια από αυτές. Πάλευε σε όλο τον αγώνα, αλλά το έκανε να φαίνεται εύκολο, το οποίο πάντοτε είναι σημάδι ενός άξιου νικητή.
Όλοι όσοι εμπλέκονται με την Formula 1, τονίζουν το πόσο δύσκολο είναι να κρατήσεις τα κεκτημένα. Ένα πρωτάθλημα ίσως να έρθει για κάποιον ικανό και τυχερό, όμως η επανάληψη αυτού του επιτεύγματος αποτελεί κάτι το εξαιρετικά δύσκολο, σε ένα σπορ όπου άπαντες πιέζουν διαρκώς για βελτίωση. Τι είναι όμως σύμφωνα με τον Prost, αυτό που κάνει τόσο δυνατό τον Vettel;
Μπορείτε να δείτε το πόσο μεθοδικός είναι στην προσέγγισή του. Χτίζει μια ισχυρή ομάδα γύρω του που είναι 100% συγκεντρωμένη στην επιτυχία και το τελικό αποτέλεσμα. Είναι ένας μεγάλος πρωταθλητής και δεν νομίζω ότι αυτός ο τίτλος θα είναι ο τελευταίος του.
Έχει μια καλή ομάδα γύρω του, έχει σταθερότητα με την τεχνική ομάδα της Red Bull και με αυτή της Renault, και φυσικά είναι ακόμα αρκετά νέος για να διεκδικήσει περισσότερα. Είμαι χαρούμενος που τον βλέπω να ισοφαρίζει τους τέσσερις τίτλους μου. Του εύχομαι ό,τι καλύτερο, ώστε να συνεχίσει και να κερδίσει κι άλλους τίτλους και να γίνει ένας μεγάλος πρωταθλητής για τη Renault.

Renault Congratualtes Vettel on Fourth Drivers’ Title
Sebastian Vettel has claimed the 2013 Formula 1 World Championship crown, his fourth consecutive drivers’ title. The 26-year-old German drove his Renault-powered Infiniti Red Bull Racing to victory in the Indian Grand Prix, clinching the title with three races remaining. Sebastian has scored 10 wins, 7 pole positions and an insurmountable 322 points so far this season.
Sebastian’s win now brings him level with Renault Ambassador Alain Prost’s tally of four drivers’ championship wins.
Alain Prost commented, ‘I’m delighted to see Sebastian win the title today. He is a great driver and he has had some outstanding wins this year, some of the best of his career so far. Singapore was one of those wins: he was fighting all the way but he made it look easy, which is always a mark of a worthy winner.
‘You can see he is methodical in his approach, builds a strong team around him that is 100% motivated for success and is entirely focused on the end result.
‘He is a great champion and I don’t think this title will be his last. He has a good team around him, stability with the technical team and with Renault, and of course he is still young enough to challenge for more.
‘I’m pleased to see him equal my four titles. I wish him all the best to go on and win others and become a great Renault champion.’

He has shown great panache this year against very tough competition and fully deserved to win this season.
