Οι τυπικές ανακοινώσεις έμεναν μόνο προκειμένου να επιβεβαιωθεί η συμφωνία τής Lotus με τη Mercedes για τη προμήθεια power unit από τη νέα σεζόν. Υπήρχε ήδη καπνός από το καλοκαίρι και πρόσφατα, ο Federico Gastaldi, Αναπληρωματικός Τεχνικός Διευθυντής τής βρετανικής ομάδας, έλεγε ότι ουσιαστικά ήταν θέμα χρόνου να έρθει το δελτίο Τύπου.

Η Lotus έχει ρίξει πολλές ευθύνες στον Renault Energy F1-2014 για την κάκιστη φετινή της απόδοση, με τα πολλά προβλήματα να πονοκεφαλιάζουν τους μηχανικούς τής από το ξεκίνημα της σεζόν. Από το 2015, όμως, η ομάδα τού Enstone θα διαθέτει έναν εξαιρετικό κινητήρα, τον καλύτερο φέτος, κατά γενική ομολογία, ελπίζοντας ότι αυτό θ’ αποτελέσει μια σημαντική ώθηση στην ανταγωνιστικότητα του νέου μονοθεσίου.

Lotus F1 Team and Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains are pleased to announce a long-term supply agreement which will see Lotus F1 Team utilizing the Mercedes-Benz Power Unit from the start of the 2015 season until the end of the current Power Unit generation.
Under the terms of the agreement, Lotus F1 Team will be supplied with Mercedes-Benz Power Units by Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains (HPP) based in Brixworth, UK. The Power Unit will use Fluid Technology Solutions developed by PETRONAS, the technology partner of Mercedes-Benz.
Lotus F1 Team will continue to design and manufacture its own transmission at its Enstone base where work is already underway on the team’s 2015 challenger, the E23 Hybrid.
