Η Hyundai με τη σειρά της ανακοίνωσε δύο ανακλήσεις που επηρεάζουν 569.500 αυτοκίνητα στις Η.Π.Α. Η μεγαλύτερη αφορά 470.000 Sonata παραγωγής 2009-2012 που φορούν τον 2.0 και 2.4 λίτρων κινητήρα βενζίνης με άμεσο ψεκασμό. Στα οχήματα αυτά, κατά τη διάρκεια κατασκευής του στροφαλοφόρου άξονα, μεταλλικά θραύσματα μπορεί να μην έχουν αφαιρεθεί πλήρως, με αυτά ενδεχομένως να εμποδίζουν την σωστή λίπανση της μπιέλας. Η έλλειψη λίπανσης θα μπορούσε να αυξήσει την φθορά στα έδρανα της μπιέλας, που θα οδηγήσει αρχικά σε δυνατούς θορύβους και στη συνέχεια στο σπάσιμο της μπιέλας, ενώ το αυτοκίνητο βρίσκεται σε κίνηση. Για το θέμα αυτό, η Hyundai ανακοίνωσε πως επεκτείνει την εγγύηση των επηρεαζόμενων οχημάτων στα 10 χρόνια ή στα 120.000 μίλια (193.000 χλμ).
Η δεύτερη ανάκληση αφορά 99.500 Hyundai Accent παραγωγής 2009-2011 στα οποία ο διακόπτης των φώτων των φρένων ενδέχεται να λειτουργεί περιοδικά. Αυτό μπορεί να οδηγήσει σε αρκετά προβλήματα, συμπεριλαμβανομένων την μη ενεργοποίηση των φώτων των φρένων, την αδυναμία απενεργοποίησης του cruise control με το πάτημα του πεντάλ των φρένων, αλλά και την αδυναμία του επιλογέα του αυτόματου κιβωτίου να πάει στη θέση P. GM Statement:
General Motors is recalling approximately 96,145 2013-16 model year ATS sedans in the U.S. Some of these vehicles may have been manufactured with critically weak terminal connectivity in the coil antenna module, which powers the rear defogger system. If the module has the condition and is subjected to excessive cycling or continuous operation, it may overheat and a fire may develop inside the rear pillar on the driver’s side of the vehicle. Less than 1 percent of the recalled vehicles are expected to have the condition. GM is aware of four fires but no injuries, fatalities or crashes. Including Canada, Mexico and exports, the total population of the recall is approximately 119,339.

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013-2016 Cadillac ATS sedan vehicles manufactured April 23, 2012, to September 2, 2015. In the affected vehicles, the coil antenna module that powers the rear defogger system may generate excessive heat due to excessive cycling or continuous operation.
CONSEQUENCE:
If the coil antenna generates excessive heat, there is an increased risk of a fire.
REMEDY:
GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the Electronic Climate Control module to remove the automatic rear defogger “on” function, free of charge. Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (Mitsubishi) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Lancer Evolution vehicles manufactured January 31, 2014, to September 5, 2014, and 2014-2015 Lancer Ralliart vehicles manufactured February 3, 2014, to September 5, 2014. The affected turbocharged vehicles have a right parking brake cable that may contact the fuel tank, wearing away the tank’s protective coating.
CONSEQUENCE:
Without the protective coating, the fuel tank may rust and leak. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
REMEDY:
Mitsubishi will notify owners, and dealers will replace the right parking brake cable, and inspect the fuel tank, free of charge. If the fuel tank’s exterior coating shows signs of damage from abrasive contact with the right parking brake cable, the fuel tank will also be replaced, free of charge. Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Sonata vehicles manufactured December 11, 2009, to April 12, 2012 at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama and equipped with either a 2.0 liter or 2.4 liter Gasoline Direct injection engine. In the affected vehicles, metallic debris may not have been fully removed during manufacturing of the engine crankshaft. If the debris was not completely removed, oil flow may be restricted through the connecting rod bearings, causing connecting rod damage. A worn connecting rod bearing will produce a metallic, cyclic knocking noise from the engine and possible engine failure.
CONSEQUENCE:
Engine failure would result in a vehicle stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
REMEDY:
Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles and replace the engine assembly, as necessary, free of charge. Additionally, Hyundai Motor America will increase the warranty for the engine sub-assembly (short block) to 10 years/120,000 miles for both original and subsequent owners of 2011 and 2012 Sonatas manufactured at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama equipped with 2.0 liter and 2.4 liter Gasoline Direct injection engines. An interim notification will be mailed by November 2, 2015. A second notification will be mailed when parts are available. Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2009-2011 Hyundai Accent vehicles manufactured March 1, 2009, to February 11, 2011. In the affected vehicles, the brake light switch may malfunction. A malfunctioning brake light switch may cause the brake lights to not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed or may cause an inability to deactivate the cruise control by depressing the brake pedal. Additionally, a malfunctioning brake light switch may also prevent the shifter from being moved out of the PARK position.
CONSEQUENCE:
Failure to illuminate the brake lights during braking or the inability to disengage the cruise control could increase the risk of a crash.
REMEDY:
Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will replace the brake switch, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin November 2, 2015.
