To πρόσφατο δυστύχημα του Model S έχει βάλει στο στόχαστρο, όχι μόνο το σύστημα Autopilot της Tesla αλλά και την αυτόνομη οδήγηση γενικότερα.
H NHTSA συνεχίζει τις έρευνες για τον βαθμό υπαιτιότητας του συστήματος, όμως -καθ’όπως φαίνεται- έπαιξε σημαντικό ρόλο το trailer κάτω από το οποίο σφηνώθηκε το σεντάν της Tesla.
Η φύση της πρόσκρουσης οδηγεί τους Αμερικανούς ερευνητές στο συμπέρασμα πως στην Ευρώπη, θα μπορούσε να έχει αποφευχθεί το μοιραίο. Ο λόγος δεν είναι άλλος από το ύψος των trailers στις Η.Π.Α. που οδηγούν σύμφωνα με στοιχεία, σε θανάσιμη κατάληξη, το 15% των πλαγιομετωπικών και οπίσθιων συγκρούσεων μεταξύ αυτοκινήτων και trailer. Συγκεκριμένα, στο 69% των περιπτώσεων το αυτοκίνητο περνάει κάτω από την καρότσα, καθιστώντας άχρηστες τις ζώνες παραμόρφωσης και τους αερόσακους.”
Το “ένοχο” Model S είχε ταχύτητα 130 χλμ/ώρα, τη στιγμή που συνάντησε το πίσω μέρος του φορτηγού, πράγμα που το “πέρασε” κάτω από την καρότσα “κουρεύοντας” την οροφή. Στη δική μας μεριά του Ατλαντικού, η νομοθεσία προβλέπει την ύπαρξη πλευρικών προστατευτικών και κατάλληλων πλαϊνών ποδιών, ειδικά σχεδιασμένων για την αποτροπή τέτοιων γεγονότων. Στην Αμερική, όμως, ακολουθείται η τακτική του ημίμετρου, κι αυτή σε ορισμένες πολιτείες.
Στα σχετικά νέα, η Tesla σούταρε το “Μotors” από το επίσημο site. Η αλλαγή έγινε για να μπουν όλες οι δραστηριότητες της εταιρίας κάτω από την ίδια στέγη και την ευκολία αναζήτησης, με την Tesla Energy να είναι το έτερο μέρος της συνομοταξίας του Elon Musk.
Επίσης, η αμερικάνικη εταιρία αποφάσισε να αυξήσει τον αριθμό των επιτρεπόμενων παραπομπών, στο πρόγραμμα προώθησης μέσω των πελατών, το οποίο ξεκίνησε από 18 Ιουλίου και θα διαρκέσει μέχρι 15 Οκτωβρίου, από πέντε σε δέκα, που δείχνει ότι μερικοί μπορεί να ήταν πάνω από το όριο την προηγούμενη φορά.
Έτσι, η Tesla προσφέρει 1.000 δολάρια έκπτωση σε κάθε ιδιοκτήτη ενός Model S που θα της πάει έναν νέο πελάτη, με την Tesla στον άνθρωπο εκείνο που θα της πάει τους περισσότερους πελάτες να χαρίζει διάφορα δώρα και κάθε 10 προτάσεις να δίνει το δικαίωμα μιας πρόσκλησης στα επόμενα αποκαλυπτήρια ενός μοντέλου της εταιρίας.

Referral Program

Awards
Owners who won awards in the program that ended July 15, 2016 will receive email instructions after the Model X drawing on or around July 31. Owners who won invitations to the Gigafactory opening event have already been contacted.
Discounts to owners from previous programs will expire on December 31, 2016.
Limits
Related order must be placed between July 18, 2016 and October 15, 2016 and delivered for a referral code to qualify. Pre-owned vehicles are not eligible. Limit of 10 referrals per owner.
Must be at least 18 years old to be eligible for awards. No entry fee, payment or purchase required for the drawing. A random drawing will be held on or around October 31, 2016 to determine the winner. The winner will be contacted thereafter. Awards are non-transferable and not redeemable for cash. The winner is responsible for all taxes and local requirements and fees. Program and awards are conditional on and subject to local laws and regulations. Unfortunately, Ohio and Virginia residents are not eligible for awards.
