Η Michelin έδωσε ένα δελτίο τύπου για να ανακοινώσει ότι το ταχύτερο ελαστικό της το Pilot Super Sport, επιλέχθηκε από την Ferrari να τοποθετηθεί στην F12berlinetta, στο ταχύτερο αυτοκίνητο παραγωγής που έχει βγάλει ποτέ η εταιρία από το Maranello. Η F12berlinetta πατά πάνω σε 20″ ζάντες με ελαστικά διαστάσεων 255/35 μπροστά και 315/35 πίσω.
H Ferrari συνέχισε την συνεργασία της με την Michelin μετά την άκρως πετυχημένη συνεργασία που είχε με τις FF και 599 GTO και οι Γάλλοι μας μιλούν ότι το ελαστικό διαθέτει τεχνολογία Twaron το οποίο το κάνει 5 φορές πιο ανθεκτικό και ελαφρύ, σε σχέση με τα συμβατικά ελαστικά που χρησιμοποιούν χάλυβα στην δομή τους.
Η τεχνολογία αυτή προέρχεται από την εμπειρία της Michelin στους αγώνες αντοχής και χρησιμοποιεί διαφορετικές χημικές ενώσεις από καουτσούκ στην αριστερή και δεξιά πλευρά του πέλματος. Στο εξωτερικό ένα μοναδικό ελαστομερές -το οποίο έχει μέχρι σήμερα χρησιμοποιούνται αποκλειστικά στα αγωνιστικά ελαστικά- εξασφαλίζει εξαιρετική αντοχή στο χρόνο. Στο εσωτερικό του, ένα ελαστομερές τελευταίας γενιάς κάνει το ελαστικό να αποκτά μεγάλη πρόσφυση ακόμη και σε βρεγμένο οδόστρωμα. MICHELIN PILOT SUPER SPORT FOR THE NEW F12BERLINETTA: THE MOST POWERFUL FERRARI EVER
The Michelin Pilot Super Sport, the world’s fastest series-produced tyre on the track(1), will be fitted on the brand new F12berlinetta, the most powerful Ferrari ever.
The Italian manufacturer, after its previous successful collaborations related to the development of the tyres for the 599 GTO and the FF, has once more chosen Michelin among the original equipment suppliers for the new F12berlinetta.
The Michelin tyres designed for the most powerful Ferrari ever owe their excellence to Michelin’s years of success in the world’s most demanding endurance races. These include the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in which the tyre maker has scored 14 victories in a row. These technologies, born from the expertise acquired on the racetrack, have been transferred to the road tyre ranges, as is the case for the Michelin Pilot Super Sport.
Due to the following technologies developed at its Research and Development Center, Michelin has designed tyres capable of handling the power and torque of the 740bhp 6,262cc V12 engine, which powers the F12berlinetta, to the benefit of the motorist’s driving pleasure:
Twaron Belt®
A high-density fibre which gives the Michelin Pilot Super Sport superior high-speed stability. A key feature of Twaron® is that it is very strong, yet light; Twaron® is five times stronger than steel of an equivalent weight.
Variable Contact Patch 2.02
Although the patch’s shape changes when cornering, the amount of rubber in contact with the road remains the same.
Tri-Compound and Bi-compound Tread
Derived from the technologies developed and used in endurance racing, this innovation uses different rubber compounds on the left and right sides of the tread. On the outside, a unique elastomer specifically developed for racing tyres ensures exceptional endurance. On the inside, a latest-generation, high-grip elastomer enables the tyre (on wet surfaces) to break through the water’s surface and adhere to the road. The sizes of the Michelin Pilot Super Sport developed for the new F12berlinetta are: 255/35 ZR 20 front, 315/35 ZR 20 rear.
(1) The tyre recorded the fastest lap time against its five leading competitors in a dry-circuit test conducted in 2010 by TÜV SÜD Automotive, an independent organization, using 245/40 ZR 18 Y and 235/35 ZR 19 Y tyres.
