Σε μία άκρως αιφνιδιαστική κίνηση, ο Επικεφαλής Παραγωγής του τομέα πολυτελών οχημάτων της Mercedes-Benz, Andreas Renschler, αποχώρησε από την εταιρία επικαλούμενος “προσωπικούς λόγους”.
Ο Renschler ήταν από τον Απρίλιο στην θέση του επικεφαλής παραγωγής ενώ πριν από αυτό επέβλεπε τον τομέα των φορτηγών για 9 χρόνια. Για να έχεις μία τάξη μεγέθους, ο Renschler ήταν ο επικρατέστερος υποψήφιος για να διαδεχθεί τον CEO της Daimler, Dieter Zetsche.
Την θέση του στην εταιρία θα αναλάβει ο Markus Schaefer που αυτή τη στιγμή έχει τον τίτλο του επικεφαλής προγραμματισμού παραγωγής και πριν από αυτό διεύθυνε το εργοστάσιο της φίρμας στο Vance, Alabama. Με λίγα λόγια έχει προϊστορία και γνώσεις στον τομέα παραγωγής.
Φυσικά, με την αποχώρηση του Renschler, η θέση του CEO που θα “ανοίξει” όταν αποχωρήσει ο Zetsche (αν γίνει κάτι τέτοιο, θα γίνει κοντά στο 2016, όταν και λήγει το συμβόλαιο του) είναι και πάλι διεκδικήσιμη.

Stuttgart – Markus Schäfer (48), currently responsible for vehicle production planning at Mercedes-Benz Cars, has been appointed as a member of the divisional board of Mercedes-Benz Cars with responsibility for manufacturing and procurement. He thus takes over the functions of Andreas Renschler, who is leaving the company of his own accord and by mutual consent. Andreas Renschler will cease working with immediate effect. The Supervisory Board of Daimler AG unanimously approved the termination of his contract of service.
Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars: “During his time as a member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, Andreas Renschler gave our commercial vehicles business a global reach. In addition, in his function as Board of Management Member for Manufacturing and Procurement Mercedes-Benz Cars, he managed the ramp-up of the new S-Class in an outstanding manner and prepared our plants for the start of production of the new C-Class. I very much regret that he is leaving the company for personal reasons.”
Markus Schäfer (48) is taking over responsibility for Manufacturing and Procurement Mercedes-Benz Cars. He has more than 20 years of experience in the field of manufacturing. Most recently, he was responsible for the production planning of Daimler’s car business. Before that, Markus Schäfer was President and CEO of MB USI in Tuscaloosa, where the new C-Class will be produced for the North American market in the future.
“Markus Schäfer is a proven expert. His broad knowledge of our manufacturing and his international experience from his positions in the United States make him extremely well qualified for these tasks,” stated Dieter Zetsche.
The Mercedes-Benz Vans division under Volker Mornhinweg will report in the future to Wilfried Porth, Board of Management Member for Human Resources and Labor Relations Director of Daimler AG. Wilfried Porth has extensive experience in the van business from his previous responsibilities.
