Το μεγαλύτερο πρόβλημα των ηλεκτρικών αυτοκινήτων σήμερα είναι η μικρή αυτονομία που προσφέρουν οι μπαταρίες. Και παρότι ερευνητές από όλο τον κόσμο εργάζονται πάνω σε νέα πρότυπα μπαταριών που θα αυξήσουν κατακόρυφα την αυτονομία των μελλοντικών αυτοκινήτων, η BMW αντί να δημιουργήσει ένα ολόκληρο αυτόνομο δίκτυο φορτιστών, όπως έκανε η Tesla, θέλει να συνδυάσει τους σταθμούς φόρτισης με τα φώτα των δρόμων.

Η BMW έχει αναπτύξει δύο πρωτότυπα φώτα δρόμου που συνδυάζουν LED φώτα με ηλεκτρικές πρίζες φόρτισης αυτοκινήτων. Η ιδέα δείχνει ιδανική, μιας και ήδη υπάρχουν εκατομμύρια κολόνες με λάμπες στους δρόμους, οι οποίες από πλευράς υποδομής, μειώνουν την χρήση νέων καλωδίων, ενώ η τοποθέτηση μιας πρίζας φόρτισης είναι ιδιαίτερα απλή, κάνοντας έτσι τη χρήση των αμιγώς ηλεκτρικών αυτοκινήτων περισσότερο πρακτική.

Η BMW έχει τοποθετήσει αυτές τις πρωτότυπες κολόνες έξω από τα κεντρικά γραφεία της και σχεδιάζει ένα πιλοτικό πρόγραμμα στους δρόμους του Μονάχου το οποίο θα τεθεί σε ισχύ μέσα στο 2015. Υπάρχει μια μικρή παγίδα όμως. Η ηλεκτρική ενέργεια δεν θα είναι δωρεάν, με τον χρήστη να χρησιμοποιεί μια εφαρμογή στο κινητό του τηλέφωνο για να πληρώσει την ηλεκτρική ενέργεια που κατανάλωσε.

BMW Group presents innovative street lighting with integrated charging station for electric vehicles.

Munich. As part of the Eurocities conference in Munich, discuss in from 5 to 8 November 2014 more than 500 representatives of major European cities on pioneering infrastructure projects, the BMW Group presents the prototype of a highly energy efficient street lighting that is both charging station for electric vehicles. The pilot project is called Light and Charge. The first two prototypes of the BMW world were brought into service today. Light and Charge combines the latest LED technology with a usable connection cashless way to charge the high-voltage batteries for electric vehicles, which is integrated in the ChargeNow network of BMW i. The BMW Group therefore uses its technological expertise for a holistic, far beyond the development of vehicles also reaching commitment to electric mobility.

The Light and Charge street lighting is much more energy-efficient by the LED modules and has a higher luminous efficiency. The units are universal and can be modularly adapted depending on the location. With up to four LED modules, they illuminate the lanes of major roads at night, one or two modules provide a pleasant light in the side streets and residential areas. As LED technology – similar to the headlights for vehicles – enables a particularly targeting of light rays, also an unnecessary and ecologically unfavorable light scattering can be avoided.

With the development of the Light and batch system, the BMW Group is a signal for the development of a comprehensive network of charging stations for electric vehicles. In cooperation with the City of Munich created a concept that uses the existing infrastructure in the area of ??municipal power to increase the number of public charging stations clearly. The pilot project will begin in spring 2015 in Munich.
