Το HSV Clubsport παρουσιάστηκε για πρώτη φορά το 1990 και έχει διανύσει πολύ δρόμο από εκείνο το Commodore με τον 5-λιτρο V8 που απέδιδε 240 άλογα και 400 Nm ροπής. 10 μοντέλα και 25 χρόνια μετά, το ClubSport κινείται πλέον από έναν 6.2 λίτρων V8 που αποδίδει 435 και στις R8 εκδόσεις, 455 άλογα με 570 Nm ροπής. Για να γιορτάσει αυτή την επέτειο, η Holden Special Vehicles ετοίμασε ένα ειδικό R8.
Οι αλλαγές δεν είναι πολλές αλλά είναι αρκετές ώστε να διαφοροποιούν το συγκεκριμένο, επετειακό μοντέλο, από τα υπόλοιπα. Το 25th Anniversary Clubsport R8, εξοπλίζεται με νέα αεροτομή, ζάντες ελαφρού κράματος 20 ιντσών, μαύρα διακοσμητικά και δύο διπλές απολήξεις για την εξάτμιση. Οι αλλαγές στο εσωτερικό είναι ακόμα λιγότερες αλλά το σαλόνι είναι πλέον δερμάτινο, υπάρχουν οι απαραίτητες πλακέτες και ο εξοπλισμός περιλαμβάνει head-up display, MyLink σύστημα infotainment κ.ά.
Κάτω από το καπό βρίσκεται ο γνωστός LS3 V8 των 6.2 λίτρων που αποδίδει 455 άλογα και 570 Nm ροπής και συνδυάζεται είτε με 6-τάχυτο, χειροκίνητο κιβώτιο, είτε με 6-τάχυτο αυτόματο. Στην Anniversary Edition όμως, η ανάρτηση έχει αντικατασταθεί από το πακέτο της HSV, τα φρένα είναι της AP Racing και το διαφορικό είναι πλέον περιορισμένης ολίσθησης. Η παραγωγή θα περιοριστεί στα 100 αυτοκίνητα για την Αυστραλία και 8 για τη Νέα Ζηλανδία και η τιμή του είναι ίδια με αυτή του απλού Clubsport R8, δηλαδή 73.290 δολάρια Αυστραλίας.

HSV Releases 25th Anniversary ClubSport R8
Australia’s leading performance car manufacturer, HSV, today released details of a limited edition ClubSport R8 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of its ClubSport nameplate.
The name ClubSport first featured on an HSV in 1990 with the introduction of the VN model which featured a 5.0L V8 generating 180 kilowatts of power and 400 Newton-metres of torque, plus 16 inch alloys and FE2 suspension. Fast-forward 25 years and while the level of passion hasn’t changed, technology, performance and design have certainly evolved.
The 25th Anniversary ClubSport, to be presented in high-series “R8” guise, builds on an already impressive list of standard equipment that includes a 340kW, LS3, Generation IV alloy V8 engine, AP Racing forged 4-piston brake calipers, HSV Performance seats in Onyx leather trim and advanced technologies like Enhanced Driver Interface (EDI) and Driver Preference Dial.
The limited edition content starts with the fitment of light-weight 20” SV Rapier forged alloy wheels in a stylish “Gloss Black” finish. A Hyperflow Performance rear spoiler adds to the racing flavour while a range of striking “pitch black” exterior accents feature on the fender vents, mirror scalps plus the door, bonnet and boot-lid badges. Bold quad exhaust outlets with shadow-chrome tips complete the exterior styling make-over.
“ClubSport is a much revered nameplate in the HSV line-up”, said HSV’s Chief of Design & Styling, Julian Quincey. “The styling enhancements we’ve introduced pay homage to its racing heritage and, at the same time, give the vehicle added street presence and attitude”, he said.
The vehicle’s exclusivity is further enhanced through the fitment of uniquely branded sill plates, an I.D. plate and EDI start-up screen, while each vehicle will be individually numbered.
“Along with GTS, ClubSport has been one of the mainstays of the HSV line-up through its proud history”, said HSV’s Managing Director, Tim Jackson. “We’re sure the added value offered with the 25th Anniversary ClubSport R8 will be well received by our fans.”
The 25th Anniversary ClubSport R8 will be available with either a TR6060 Tremec 6-speed manual transmission or the optional 6L80E 6-speed automatic with Active Select and Paddle-shifters
At $73,290, Recommended Retail Pricing for the limited edition 25th Anniversary ClubSport R8 remains unchanged from that of the ClubSport R8.
To be offered in four exterior colours – Heron, Phantom, Sting and Nitrate, build of the 25th Anniversary ClubSport R8 will be restricted to just 100 vehicles (plus 8 for the New Zealand market), with production to commence in July.
