Have it your way Transit Connect Wagon offers customers a choice between two fuel-efficient four-cylinder engines – a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an optional 1.6-liter EcoBoost® that is estimated to deliver 30 mpg-plus on the highway. This powertrain makes Transit Connect Wagon the gas mileage leader among seven-passenger vehicles.

A range of seating surfaces, from luxurious leather, comfortable cloth and heavy-duty vinyl, is available to suit the specific needs of a wide variety of potential customers.
Commercial-strength DNA in a family versatility vehicle Transit Connect Wagon’s work-hard/play-hard nature is reflected in cargo-carrying capacity and room for up to seven comfortably seated passengers, wrapped in a high-strength body engineered to rigorous global commercial vehicle durability standards.
The all-new Transit Connect Wagon builds on the foundation of reliability and durability established by the current Transit Connect compact van. Introduced in North America in 2009, Transit Connect has become the must-have vehicle for small business proprietors, thanks to its unmatched combination of payload and cargo capacities, adaptability, fuel efficiency, maneuverability and overall ease of driving.
Transit Connect was recognized as an innovative “white space” vehicle – literally carving out a new category in the market – by the automotive industry press corps when it was named North American Truck of the Year in January 2010 at the North American International Auto Show.
Now selling at a pace of 35,000 units per year, Transit Connect has become a favorite of small businesses, corporate fleets, taxi operators and a few individualistic owners who find its combination of a car-like ride and the cargo capacity of a van just right for their personal use.
“The all-new Transit Connect Wagon will expand the personal-use audience for this versatile nameplate by offering up to seven-passenger capacity across three rows of seating in a fully trimmed interior,” said Hau Thai-Tang, Ford vice president of Global Engineering, Global Product Development. “It has an extensive selection of comfort, convenience and connectivity options, and a full complement of safety features – making it a modern, family-friendly alternative to oversized minivans.”
All Transit Connect Wagon models feature first-row frontal, pelvis and side airbags, with first-, second- and third-row side curtain airbags in long-wheelbase models. Short-wheelbase versions get first- and second-row side curtain airbags.
Ford’s award-winning MyKey® programmable ignition key enables restricting maximum vehicle speed and audio system volume, bringing additional peace of mind to both parents and fleet administrators alike.
Transit Connect Wagon even offers a child observation mirror so parents can keep track of children safely belted in second- and third-row seats.
Infinite adaptability Inside, the Transit Connect Wagon package is a rolling showcase for adaptability in hauling both people and cargo.
From its 60/40 three-passenger second-row bench seat through fold-flat second- and third-row seating with third-row independent fore-and-aft sliding capability, Transit Connect Wagon quickly adapts to accommodate multiple combinations of people and cargo.
Also available is an electric windshield defroster, making short work of icy windshields in wintry conditions and when parking Transit Connect Wagon on the street.
The versatile Transit Connect Wagon offers far better fuel efficiency than traditional minivans, compact-car-like maneuverability and handling, combined with unprecedented payload and cargo capabilities.
Look for Transit Connect Wagon to appear in North American Ford dealerships in the fourth quarter of 2013.
Updated Fashionable Figo
• Figo design enhanced with new kinetic design elements • Minor changes to the interior add to the overall appeal • Trend drivers’ connected with addition of Bluetooth technology
PRETORIA, South Africa, 13 November, 2012 Ford’s fun and fashionable Figo is now even more desirable thanks to the introduction of exterior design enhancements and added interior features including the addition of Bluetooth connectivity on some models.
“The Figo’s contemporary design, solid performance credentials and desirable safety features are refreshing for a vehicle in its class,” says Gavin Golightly, Ford Marketing Manager. “It is well-positioned as a value-for-money prospect and with the addition of some new enhancements its overall appeal is further cemented.”
The Figo, based on Ford’s proven global small car architecture, is available with a choice of two fuel-efficient engines, the 1.4? Petrol Duratec and the 1.4? Turbo Diesel Duratorq. Both are equipped with five-speed manual transmissions.
Customers can choose between two trim levels, the Ambiente being the entry level option available in both petrol and diesel guise and the Trend, the high spec model, available in petrol configuration.
Both the Ambiente and the Trend further incorporate Ford’s global Kinetic design DNA with new design elements incorporate into the bonnet and bumper. The lower grille has been revised with the upper grille benefiting from the addition of a chrome line. The head and tail lamp designs have also been revised while the fog lamp housing features a more aggressive and defined look.
The Ambiente model has been further enhanced with the addition of a new eight-spoke wheel design while the Trend model receives a new alloy wheel design.
Inside the cabin the Ambiente now features a Dynamic Blue centre stack bezel and revised seat fabric pattern. The Trend also received some enhancements to the interior including a change from red to blue seat fabric and the addition of Bluetooth functionality.
The Figo’s In Car Entertainment system allows one to switch between radio, CD/MP3 or one’s iPod easily and with added versatility thanks to the addition of Bluetooth functionality.
The Bluetooth system allows you to connect a mobile phone to the audio system and therefore connect and disconnect calls through the system. It also allows for the connection or rejection of a second incoming call. Caller ID is displayed on the vehicle’s display and phonebook contacts and call history can be synchronised with the audio system.
The space and practicality that define the Figo are more commonly associated with larger, more expensive vehicles rather than those typically found in the sub B-Value segment. The precise and responsive steering of the Figo instils confidence, while a fine balance between ride comfort and control is ensured through the optimized suspension design.
There’s no shortage of safety features with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) providing a piece of mind driving experience.
“While affordability and practicality are of great importance in this segment buyers are not willing to sacrifice on style and performance. The Figo strikes the right blend of these elements,” adds Golightly.
The 1.4? Petrol Duratec has a maximum power output of 62kW @ 6000rpm and enjoys 127Nm of torque at 4000rpm. This equates to a frugal fuel consumption figure of 6.6?/100km* on the combined cycle according to the New European Driving Cycle. CO2 emissions are measured at 156g/km.
The 1.4? Turbo Diesel Duratorq is just as impressive sporting 51kW @ 4000rpm and reaching its maximum torque peak of 160Nm at just 2000rpm. It uses just 5.3?/100km* on the combined cycle as measured by the New European Driving Cycle and emits 139g/km of CO2,.
In addition to excellent fuel economy customers are offered further value for money through Ford’s ability to secure affordable spare parts and offer reliable servicing through its extensive dealer network. The Figo comes with a 4-year/120 000km warranty and 5-year corrosion warranty. Service intervals are 20 000km for petrol derivatives and 15 000km for diesel.
*Fuel economy and emission figures obtained from controlled tests on a combined cycle in Europe. Note that the actual fuel consumption and emission will depend on many factors including your driving habits, prevailing conditions and your vehicles equipment, condition and use.
**Pricing of the updated Figo range remains unchanged.
