Το Νοέμβριο του 2014 η Subaru παρουσίασε το Forester tS με 280 άλογα, σε περιορισμένη παραγωγή 300 μονάδων, οι οποίες κυκλοφόρησαν αποκλειστικά στην Ιαπωνία.
Η ιαπωνική εταιρία αποφάσισε να διαθέσει τον ίδιο αριθμό αυτοκινήτων και στην Αυστραλία, όπου η τοπική αντιπροσωπεία θα ξεκινήσει από τον Ιούνιο την πώληση του αυτοκινήτου, το οποίο θα διαθέτει αρκετά καλούδια από την STI.
Το αυστραλιανό Subaru Forester tS διαθέτει ένα σχετικά επιθετικό bodykit, το οποίο περιλαμβάνει ανασχεδιασμένους προφυλακτήρες, εμπρός splitter, μαύρη πίσω αεροτομή, μεγάλες απολήξεις εξατμίσεων και 19άρες σφυρήλατες ζάντες της BBS με ελαστικά Bridgestone Turanza ER33.
Στο εσωτερικό συναντάμε μεταξύ άλλων νέο ταχύμετρο με τελική ένδειξη τα 260 χλμ/ώρα, πολυλειτουργική οθόνη, δερμάτινο τιμόνι με κόκκινες ραφές και λογότυπο STI, μαύρες δερμάτινες/σουέτ επενδύσεις με κόκκινες ραφές, STI λογότυπα και μαρσπιέ.
Η STI ανάρτηση χαμηλώνει την απόσταση από το έδαφος κατά 15 mm, τα φρένα είναι της Brembo με την Subaru να επαναρυθμίζει την ECU του δίλιτρου κινητήρα, αλλά αντιθέτως με την ιαπωνική έκδοση που αποδίδει 280 άλογα και 350 Nm ροπή, η αντίστοιχη της Αυστραλίας αποδίδει 240 άλογα. Ο κινητήρας συνδυάζεται με ένα CVT Lineatronic αυτόματο κιβώτιο που στέλνει τη κίνηση σε όλους τους τροχούς, ενώ και τα συστήματα TCU (Transmission Control Unit) και VDC (Vehicle Dynamics Control) έχουν νέες ρυθμίσεις.
Η συγκεκριμένη ειδική έκδοση βασίζεται στην ακριβότερη XT Premium, και κοστίζει επιπλέον 7.000 αυστραλιανά δολάρια, όταν αυτά που διαθέτει κοστολογούνται για 12.000 δολάρια, με τους Αυστραλούς να έχουν δείξει εξαιρετικά μεγάλο ενδιαφέρον για το αυτοκίνητο.

Forester tS is fast off showroom floor
Subaru’s special edition All-Wheel Drive Forester tS is getting a hot reception ahead of its official appearance in dealerships in June.
Teased late last year, the ultimate version of Subaru’s sporty turbocharged SUV has generated huge interest with scores of customers making deposits – despite the fact Forester tS is only now starting to trickle onto showroom floors.
Subaru Australia Managing Director, Nick Senior, said: “Forester tS is a graphic demonstration of Subaru’s innovation, uniqueness and inspiration.
“Arguably it is the only true sports SUV under $80,000. And with its rarity and Subaru’s renowned retained value, it is bound to be one of the first collectible SUVs.”
He added: “When we flagged Forester tS late last year, the customer enquiries went through the roof and the end result is we’re already wishing we’d ordered more than 300.
“It’s clear proof of the success of this clever joint development between the Subaru factory and the performance arm, Subaru Tecnica International (STI).
“While the cars were built in the Subaru factory, they were transferred to STI for final completion and the addition of around 30 items.
“It certainly gives us great confidence in progressing other joint projects between the factory and STI.”
Forester tS offers $12,000 of extra features for an increment of just $7,000 over the Manufacturer’s List Price (MLP)* of the Forester XT Premium, on which it is based (Forester tS does not have a sunroof), adding:
