Ο Vettel δοκίμασε τα ελαστικά του 2017 στο Fiorano

Πρώτη δοκιμή για τα νέα ελαστικά της Pirelli για το 2017, με τον Sebastian Vettel να τα δοκιμάζει στο Fiorano σε μια ειδικά τροποποιημένη Ferrari SF15-T, που προσομοιώνει τους νέους αεροδυναμικούς κανονισμούς του 2017, αλλά και τους κανονισμούς για τα ελαστικά.

Σήμερα o Sebastian Vettel  έκανε μόνο δύο installation γύρους με τα “στεγνά” ελαστικά, καθώς το πρόγραμμα δοκιμών αναφέρει ότι θα αξιολογήσει τα ενδιάμεσα και βρόχινα στην τεχνητά βρεγμένη ιταλική πίστα. Αύριο, θα συνεχίσει της δοκιμές για τη Ferrari ο Esteban Gutierrez της Haas F1.

Να θυμίσω πως τα σλικ ελαστικά του 2017 έχουν διάστασεις 305/670-13 μπροστά (245/660-13 τα σημερινά) και 405/670-13 πίσω (325/660-13 τα σημερινά), με τα ενδιάμεσα ελαστικά να έχουν διάμετρο 675 mm και τα βρόχινα διάμετρο 680 mm. Συνολικά, τα ελαστικά του 2017 μεγαλώνουν κατά 25% και η Pirelli υπόσχεται πως τα μονοθέσια θα είναι 4 με 5 δευτερόλεπτα ταχύτερα ανά γύρο.

Η Red Bull θα δοκιμάσει τα σλικ ελαστικά στις 3-4 Αυγούστου στο Mugello, ενώ η Mercedes θα το δοκιμάσει τον Σεπτέμβριο στην πίστα του Paul Ricard στη Γαλλία. Κάθε μια από τις ομάδες που συμμετέχουν στις δοκιμές (Mercedes, Ferrari και Red Bull) θα αναλάβουν συνολικά οκτώ ημέρες δοκιμών ανά αυτοκίνητο από τώρα μέχρι το τέλος του Νοεμβρίου. Κάθε ομάδα θα έχει ακριβώς την ίδια ποσότητα ελαστικών για δοκιμές, με τις δύο ημέρες να δοκιμάζει τα βρόχινα και τα ενδιάμεσα ελαστικά και τις 6 τα σλικ. Η τελευταία ημέρα δοκιμών και για τις τρεις ομάδες θα είναι στο Αμπού Ντάμπι την Τρίτη 29 Νοεμβρίου, δύο ημέρες μετά το τελευταίο Grand Prix της φετινής σεζόν.

PIRELLI’S 2017 TYRES MAKE THEIR DEBUT ON TRACK

FIRST TEST WITH SCUDERIA FERRARI: SEBASTIAN VETTEL TESTS AT FIORANO THE WIDER WET TYRES FOR NEXT SEASON

Fiorano, August 1, 2016 – The testing programme with the new wider Pirelli P Zero Formula 1 tyres for 2017 begins today at Fiorano in Italy. Sebastian Vettel takes the wheel of a Ferrari SF15-T that has been specifically modified to simulate the new aero rules and to accommodate tyres in 2017 size. The four-time world champion will test all day before handing the car over to Haas F1 driver Esteban Gutierrez on Tuesday 2 August.

THE PROGRAMME. Following a few installation laps on slick tyres in the morning, Vettel will then try wide Pirelli intermediate and full wet tyres on an artificially dampened surface. With a tread that is 25% wider than the current size, particular care is required when it comes to research and development of wet weather tyres, which are capable of evacuating even more water. The development work on both intermediate and full wet tyres will be continued by Gutierrez on Tuesday.

DIMENSIONS. The 2017 rules impose the following dimensions for slick tyres:
305/670-13 at the front (currently 245/660-13)
405/670-13 at the rear  (currently 325/660-13)
The Cinturato intermediate will have a diameter of 675 mm while the Cinturato wet will have a diameter of 680 mm.

The wheel size remains unchanged at 13 inches.

SLICK TYRE TESTING. Red Bull will be the first team to try the 2017 size slick Formula 1 tyres. This dry weather test will take place on 3-4 August at Mugello in Italy, and it will mark the final test before the summer break. The development programme will begin again in September, when Mercedes (the third Team providing a modified car for testing purposes) will take to the track at Paul Ricard in France.

PROGRAMME. Each of the three Teams taking part (Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull) will undertake a total of eight days of testing per car between now and the end of November. Each Team will have exactly the same amount of testing as each other for wet and intermediate tyres (two days) as well as slick tyres (six days). The final day of testing for all three Teams will be in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday 29 November, two days after the final grand prix of the 2016 season
