Μετά από μια σειρά spy φωτογραφιών η Maserati έδωσε σήμερα τις πρώτες φωτογραφίες της ολοκαίνουργιας Quattroporte η οποία θα κάνει ντεμπούτο τον Ιανουάριο στην έκθεση του Detroit. Με αυτή, η Maserati πιστεύει ότι θα πιάσει τον στόχο των 50.000 πωλήσεων έως το 2015.
Εκτός από τις φωτογραφίες, η Maserati δεν ανακοίνωσε απολύτως κανένα τεχνικό χαρακτηριστικό της νέας ναυαρχίδας της. Η παραγωγή της ξεκίνησε πρόσφατα στο εργοστάσιο Grugliasco του ομίλου, στο Τορίνο της Ιταλίας, ενώ στο ίδιο εργοστάσιο θα κατασκευάζεται και η μικρή Maserati, η οποία θα ονομάζεται Ghibli.
Στο εσωτερικό μπορεί να μεταφέρει 4 ενήλικες αφού στο πίσω κάθισμα υπάρχει στο κέντρο μια κονσόλα και διαθέτει μπεζ δερμάτινα καθίσματα, ξύλινες επενδύσεις, τριάκτινο τιμόνι με αλουμινένια διακοσμητικά ενώ στο κέντρο της κονσόλας υπάρχει μια μεγάλη οθόνη του συστήματος ενημέρωσης και ψυχαγωγίας.
Οι φήμες αναφέρουν ότι χρησιμοποιήσει πολλά μέρη από τα Chrysler 300 και Dodge Avenger για την κατασκευή της, ενώ κάτω από το καπό θα υπάρχει ένας κομπρεσοράτος V6 κινητήρας απόδοσης 426 ίππων και ένας turbo V8 απόδοσης 520 ίππων. O V8 θα είναι διαθέσιμος από την αρχή της εμπορικής της πορείας, αλλά ο V6 θα κυκλοφορήσει λίγο αργότερα και θα είναι κατά 30% οικονομικότερος από τον V8 4.3-λίτρων της Ferrari California.
Οι κινητήρες είναι μέρος της συμφωνίας με την Ferrari και πρόσφατα ακούσαμε έναν από αυτούς να δοκιμάζεται πάνω σε μια Ferrari California. Και οι δύο κινητήρες θα συνεργάζονται με ένα αυτόματο 8-τάχυτο κιβώτιο ταχυτήτων το οποίο θα μπορεί να στέλνει την κίνηση και στους τέσσερις τροχούς, αφού στον προαιρετικό εξοπλισμό, θα υπάρχει διαθέσιμο ένα σύστημα τετρακίνησης.
Η νέα Quattroporte είναι μεγαλύτερη κατά 15 εκατοστά και φαρδύτερη κατά 15 εκατοστά, ώστε να ανταγωνιστεί τα Audi A8, BMW 7-Series και Mercedes S-Class. Οι αυξημένες διαστάσεις της (5,2 μέτρα περίπου μήκος) θα προσφέρουν μεγαλύτερο χώρο στους πίσω επιβάτες και μεγαλύτερο χώρο του πορτμπαγκάζ κατά 107 λίτρα. Παρότι τις αυξημένες διαστάσεις, θα ζυγίζει 204 κιλά λιγότερα, 1940 κιλά, λόγω εκτενής χρήση αλουμινίου και οι κινητήρες του θα καταναλώνουν κατά μέσο όρο 30% λιγότερο καύσιμο. Το σασί της θα είναι monocoque από ατσάλι υψηλής αντοχής.
