Για να γιορτάσει την 30η επέτειο από την παρουσίαση του πρώτου GTi μοντέλου της, η Peugeot ανακοίνωσε πως θα λανσάρει μία ειδική έκδοση του τρέχοντος GTi της, του 208 GTi. Το αυτοκίνητο, θα ονομάζεται Peugeot 208 GTi 30thAnniversary και θα κάνει το ντεμπούτο του στο φετινό Goodwood Festival of Speed στις 27-29 Ιουνίου.

Σε αυτό το σημείο, η Peugeot δεν έχει κάνει γνωστές τις διαφορές αυτής της ειδικής έκδοσης από το απλό μοντέλο αλλά μπορούμε να περιμένουμε μία μικρή αύξηση στην ιπποδύναμη καθώς και ορισμένες αισθητικές “παρεμβάσεις”. Να θυμίσουμε πως το standard 208 GTi, κινείται από έναν turbo τετρακύλινδρο, με χωρητικότητα 1.6 λίτρων και απόδοση 200 ίππων. Μαζί με την ειδική έκδοση του 208 GTi, η Peugeot θα εκθέσει το 2008 DKR με το οποίο θα συμμετέχει στο Dakar Rally το 2015, το Exalt concept, το 308 R, το RCZ R και πολλά ακόμα μοντέλα. Επιπλέον, το 208 T16 Pikes Peak καθώς και το 405 T16 GR Pikes Peak, θα διανύσουν την φημισμένη διαδρομή του hillclimb.

ICONIC PEUGEOT GTi CELEBRATED WITH DYNAMIC DEBUT OF 208 GTi 30TH ANNIVERSARY AT GOODWOOD FESTIVAL OF SPEED

PEUGEOT is celebrating 30 years of the GTi in 2014 and at the Goodwood Festival of Speed (27th–29th June) in the Supercar & ‘First Glimpse’ class, a specially-enhanced 208 GTi 30th Anniversary Limited Edition makes its world debut on display with dynamic demonstrations.

The 208 GTi 30th Anniversary will be available for viewing on static display in the Moving Motor Show showroom and on the Hillclimb at speed on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The debut of the 208 GTi 30th Anniversary is similar to the reveal of the RCZ R the previous year and is all part of the exciting showcase of products placed on display at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed by PEUGEOT that includes an enviable line-up:

  • 2008 DKR – the Dakar challenger for the 2015 endurance competition
  • PEUGEOT Design Lab mezzanine space displaying the ONYX Sofa– on sale at €135,000

  • Exalt Concept Car (European debut)
  • RCZ R Sports Coupé – 270bhp 1.6-litre road car

In 2014, PEUGEOT marks a 125-year anniversary of automotive development, following the brands evolution initiated in 1810 from a business developing cutting tools and mills, kitchen utensils and other developments. The progression from producing cycles, scooters, motorcycles and then motor vehicles – has seen the automotive division achieve many notable successes:

1810 Peugeot brand was formed producing metal cutting and shaping implements – saws and chisels

1889 The steam-driven Serpollet-Peugeot automobile was the first and only one was produced

1890 The first internal-combustion Peugeot car was a Type 2 powered by a Panhard-Daimler engine

1894 Albert Lemaître driving a Peugeot 3hp Type 5 won the very first recorded motor sport competition – the Paris to Rouen race. Five Peugeot cars were entered with all five finishing.

1895 Édouard and André Michelin first used pneumatic tyres in competition on a Peugeot car Paris-Bordeaux-Paris race

1896 Peugeot Automobiles business was established, and Peugeot engines powered its vehicles

1898 Peugeot became the first manufacturer to fit (solid) rubber tyres to a (petrol-powered) car

1899 Lemaître won the Nice-Castellane-Nice Rally in a Peugeot 20hp racer

2013 Peugeot returned to Pikes Peak with Sébastien Loeb who conquered the hillclimb in a time of just 8:13.878, beating the previous record by an astonishing 90 seconds

2014 Peugeot 308 voted 2014 European Car of the Year (307 points awarded)
