To 2010 o σκηνοθέτης Asif Kapadia ετοίμασε ένα ντοκιμαντέρ για την ζωή του αείμνηστου βραζιλιάνου οδηγού της Formula 1, Ayrton Senna, με το διάρκειας 106 λεπτών βιογραφική ταινία να αποσπά εξαιρετικές κριτικές από κοινό και κριτικούς, καθώς κέρδισε δύο βραβεία BAFTA.
O 44-χρονος Βρετανός -ινδικής καταγωγής- σκηνοθέτης υπέγραψε για να δημιουργία μιας νέας ταινίας για την ιστορία της Rolls-Royce, η οποία θα ονομαστεί Silver Ghost. Η ταινία αναμένεται να βγει στις κινηματογραφικές αίθουσες το 2017 και θα αναφέρεται στις πρώτες ημέρες της βρετανικής εταιρίας που έχει συνδέσει το όνομα της με την πολυτέλεια. Ανάμεσα στους παραγωγούς της ταινίας είναι και ο Martin Scorsese, και σε αυτή θα δούμε την ιστορία του Charles Rolls και του Henry Royce στις αρχές του 20ού αιώνα, με τον πρωτοπόρο Λορδο John Douglas-Scott Montagu και τη γυναίκα του να έχουν επίσης ρόλο στη ταινία, δείχνοντας μας πως η ερωμένη του Montagu, Eleanor Velasco Thornton, ενέπνευσε την δημιουργία του Spirit of Ecstasy.

Asif Kapadia is to direct the Martin Scorsese/Anthony Haas produced feature film drama SILVER GHOST. The project will be a co-production between Scorsese’s Sikelia Productions and Zuma Productions.

Developed by the late Academy Award winning director Richard Attenborough and producer Anthony Haas, SILVER GHOST tells the epic story of the iconic motor car, born out of an extraordinary odd-couple relationship between the maverick genius of Charles Rolls and Henry Royce, marking the genesis of aviation and all the courage and daredevilry that went with it.
Set at the turn of the last century, it delineates the fascinating story of Rolls and Royce and their close friendship with motoring pioneer Lord John Douglas-Scott Montagu, his relationship with his beautiful wife, Cis, and his secret affair with his secretary and mistress, Eleanor Velasco Thornton. Eleanor was the inspiration for the iconic Spirit of Ecstasy mascot, designed by British artist and sculptor, Charles Sykes that to this day adorns all Rolls-Royce cars.
