Η Opel ανακοίνωσε ότι η ανοικτή έκδοση του Astra, θα ονομάζεται Cascada και θα κάνει ντεμπούτο στην έκθεση του Παρισιού. To Cascada θα διαθέτει πλέον μαλακή ηλεκτρονική υφασμάτινη οροφή και η κατασκευή του θα γίνεται στο εργοστάσιο του Gliwice της Πολωνίας με τις πωλήσεις του να ξεκινούν από το 2013. Η ονομασία του προέρχεται από την Ισπανική λέξη που σημαίνει καταρράκτης και η οροφή του ανοιγοκλείνει με το πάτημα ενός κουμπιού, με ταχύτητες έως 50 χλμ/ώρα.
Έχει μήκος 4,70 μέτρα και θα μπορεί να μεταφέρει με άνεση 4 επιβάτες. Μηχανικά θα φορά την ίδια γκάμα κινητήρων με τις υπόλοιπες εκδόσεις του Astra. Το Opel Astra Cabriolet θα διαθέτει το ίδιο σασί με αυτό που χρησιμοποιεί το Astra GTC, με HiPerStrut ανάρτηση και φαρδύτερα μετατρόχια σε σχέση με την 5-πορτη έκδοση. Οι πωλήσεις του θα ξεκινήσουν από τις αρχές του 2013 και περισσότερες λεπτομέρειες γι’αυτό θα μάθουμε στο Παρίσι.
