Η Gooding & Company ανακοίνωσε τα αυτοκίνητα που θα δημοπρατηθούν στο επερχόμενο Scottsdale event και ανάμεσα σε αυτά, είναι μία αγωνιστική McLaren F1 GTR Longtail του 1997.
Το αυτοκίνητο, έχει πλούσιο αγωνιστικό pedigree καθώς πήρε δύο νίκες (Hockenheim και Ελσίνκι) και 4 podium με τα χρώματα της BMW Works Motorsport Team. Όταν η καριέρα του ολοκληρώθηκε, την συντήρησή του ανέλαβε η Lanzante Ltd ενώ το «φρεσκάρισμα» πριν τη δημοπρασία, ανέλαβε η ίδια η McLaren.
Να θυμίσουμε πως η F1 GTR Longtail θεωρείται η απόλυτη αγωνιστική F1. Κινείται από έναν 6-λιτρο V12 που αποδίδει 604 άλογα στις 6.500 σ.α.λ. και συνδυάζεται με ένα 6-τάχυτο σειριακό κιβώτιο της X-Trac.
Με δεδομένη την σπανιότητα του οχήματος και το παρελθόν του συγκεκριμένου αγωνιστικού, εκτιμάται πως θα φτάσει (ίσως και να ξεπεράσει) τα 5 εκατομμύρια ευρώ.

The “Longtail” at Scottsdale
SANTA MONICA, Calif. (December 18, 2013) – Gooding & Company is thrilled to announce that an exceptional collector competition car has been added to its Scottsdale Auctions on January 17 and 18. The most successful 1997 McLaren F1 GTR Longtail, 021R, finished in stunning white, blue and red FINA livery (estimate: $5,000,000-7,000,000) will proudly drive over Gooding & Company’s auction stage as one of many premier offerings. The auction commences at 11 a.m. at Scottsdale Fashion Square each day.
Enthusiasts the world over recognize McLaren’s F1 GTR as a stunning example of racing technology and timeless design. Competition McLarens rarely appear for public sale and 021R is no exception. This car was the first GTR Longtail race winner with accolades including wins at Hockenheim and Helsinki, as well as several other podium finishes. This car was campaigned by the Works BMW Motorsport Team and raced by star drivers J.J. Lehto and Steve Soper.
