November 3, 2015 , Auburn Hills, Mich. – Jeep® and Mopar have teamed up to create the Wrangler Red Rock Concept vehicle that will be showcased at this year’s Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) trade show in Las Vegas. The Jeep Wrangler Red Rock Concept pays tribute to the Red Rock 4-Wheelers off-road club that hosts the annual Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah. For 2016, the Red Rock 4-Wheelers celebrate the 50th annual Easter Jeep Safari, which started in 1967 with an off-road drive along the “Behind the Rocks Trail.”
In celebration of the upcoming 50th annual Easter Jeep Safari, the Jeep brand will produce 50 serialized Jeep Wrangler Red Rock special-edition models in 2016, influenced by the Wrangler Red Rock Concept that makes its debut at the SEMA show.
“The annual Easter Jeep Safari remains one of the most significant events on any Jeep enthusiast’s calendar,” said Mike Manley, Head of Jeep Brand – FCA Global. “We’re extremely grateful to the Red Rock 4-Wheelers for continuing this iconic Jeep event, and we present our Wrangler Red Rock Concept as a tribute to them and the enthusiasts who attend the annual Jeep Safari and support our brand.”
The Jeep Wrangler Red Rock Concept is another example of the potential of customizing a production Jeep Wrangler with aftermarket Performance Parts from Mopar.

When the Jeep Wrangler Red Rock special-edition model is produced next year, it will feature some of the content shown on the Red Rock Concept. Select items showcased on the Concept will be available as aftermarket parts from Mopar.
Jeep Wrangler Red Rock Concept
Based on a Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon Hard Rock, the Wrangler Red Rock Concept includes next-generation Dana 44 solid front and rear axles, a Rock-Trac® transfer case with a 4.10 axle ratio, a power dome vented hood, new premium off-road rock rails, and front and rear red tow hooks. Wrangler Red Rock Concept-specific features include a commemorative Red Rock badge and Red Rock hood decal, low gloss Jeep badge, low gloss Granite Crystal off-road bumpers, and a body-color grille with low-gloss black grille throats and headlamp accents.
Since it’s based off of the Wrangler Rubicon Hard Rock, the Red Rock Concept is equipped with Tru-Lok® electronic locking differentials, the Rock-Trac® transfer case and a 4:1 low-range ratio. A 73.1:1 crawl ratio with the manual transmission enables the Red Rock Concept to scale obstacles others just dream about.
Inside, Amaretto Brown Katzkin leather seats with silver accented stitching and a “Red Rock” embroidered seat back logo set the Red Rock Concept apart from the rest of the Wrangler lineup. A serialized “Red Rock” grab handle plaque is also featured to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Easter Jeep Safari.
The Wrangler Red Rock Concept’s robust look and off-road capabilities are enhanced with help from a 2-inch lift kit, 17-inch beadlock wheels – in low gloss black; the bead lock rings are low gloss Granite Crystal – wrapped in rugged 35-inch BFG K02 all-terrain tires, LED headlamps and fog lights, and a Jeep-branded CB radio. The Wrangler Red Rock Concept includes an aftermarket Warn Rubicon winch, front and rear differential covers, and a reinforced swing gate and wheel mount.
Since 2002, Jeep and Mopar have collaborated on more than 50 unique concept vehicles for enthusiasts who attend the popular Easter Jeep Safari.

They’re designed for 2014+ Stingray models, including Z51-equipped cars.
“We’ve selected specific components from the Corvette Z06 and engineered them to fit the award-winning Stingray,” said Jim Campbell, Chevrolet U.S. vice president of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “These Z06 parts enhance the handling, braking, cooling and downforce performance of the Stingray.”
Ron Fellows, champion Corvette Racing driver, collaborated with Chevrolet Performance engineers on the all-new portfolio. Many will be used in cars in the new Michelin Corvette Challenge racing series, which was developed with Fellows and will run a 15-race schedule starting in February 2016.
“Here at Spring Mountain, we drive the Corvette Stingray and Z06 at their limits nearly every day, so we’re in a unique position to recognize the parts that are most effective,” said Ron Fellows. “The effect of the new, Z06-based parts on the Stingray’s track capability is dramatic. They take the Stingray’s already great stopping and cornering capabilities to yet another exciting level of stability and precision.”
Most of the Z06 parts are offered as direct replacements for the Stingray’s original parts.

Corvette Z06 Level 3 Aero Package
This kit is an upgrade for Level 2-equipped Corvette Z06 models and adds elements from the Z07 Performance Package, including larger end plates to the front splitter, as well as an adjustable, transparent wickerbill on the rear spoiler.
Corvette Z06 600-Watt Radiator Fan
Developed to meet the Z06’s cooling requirements, this powerful, 600-watt radiator cooling fan increases the fan speed over the Stingray’s 500-Watt system for greater airflow and enhanced cooling capability. It is a direct replacement for the standard Corvette Stingray cooling fan.
Corvette Secondary Radiator Kit
This kit adds cooling capability to manual transmission Corvettes (base Stingray, Z51 and Z06). The engine coolant temperatures are lowered 25 degrees F along with lowering engine oil temperatures 15 degrees F. The addition of the Z06 grille further enhances the cooling performance of this kit.
Corvette Z06 Grille Kit
The Z06 front grille was designed to provide maximum airflow to the radiator, intercooler and brake cooling ducts for the 650-hp supercar, resulting in a 17-percent increase in front-end airflow, compared to the grille of the Corvette Stingray Z51. It’s a direct replacement for the Stingray grille insert. Additionally, the inlet ramps to the brake cooling ducts were optimized to balance the airflow demands of brake cooling and engine cooling.
Corvette Z06 Quarter Panel Vents
They offer larger openings than the Corvette Stingray, for increased airflow to the transmission oil cooler and differential cooler – an approximately 25-percent improvement over the airflow of the Z51 at speed, to help maintain cooling performance.
Corvette Z06 Rear Transmission Oil Cooler
The larger Z06 rear transmission oil cooler fits in the same location as the base Stingray and Z51 cooler and adds extra cooling capacity. It works best when paired with the Z06 Quarter Panel Vents to maximize airflow through the cooler.
Corvette Z06 Carbon Fiber Torque Tube and Prop Shaft Kit
The lightweight Z06 Carbon Fiber Torque Tube assembly saves almost 15.5 pounds (7 Kg) compared to the Stingray’s steel-intensive torque tube. The kit also includes higher-temperature rubber couplers in the prop shaft. Applications vary by transmission and model year. The torque tube is also available separately.
Corvette Stingray Heat Shield
This larger heat shield helps protect the prop shaft from higher temperatures. It is only required for 2014 Corvette Stingray models. It is included on 2015+ models.
Corvette Z06 Prop Shaft Assembly with High-Temp Couplers
The Corvette Z06’s internal prop shaft includes rubber couplers designed for higher temperatures and a larger heat shield. These couplers are included with the Corvette Z06 Carbon Fiber Torque Tube and Prop Shaft Kit.
Corvette Z06 Carbon Fiber Underbody Braces*
These carbon fiber underbody braces are 17 percent lighter than the aluminum braces on the Corvette Stingray, while also offering an improvement in overall torsional stiffness. They are a direct replacement for the standard braces.
Corvette Z06 Brake Kits (Iron Rotors) for Stingray with Z51*
Designed for Stingray models equipped with the Z51 package, they feature the Z06’s standard, two-piece and slotted iron rotors – measuring 14.6-in. x 1.3-in (370mm x 34mm) for the front rotors and 14.4-in. x 1-in. (365mm x 26mm) for the rear. The front kit uses aluminum monoblock six-piston calipers, while the rear kit features four-piston fixed calipers. The front calipers also feature vented pistons for improved pad and brake fluid cooling. They also offer differentiated piston diameters of 30mm, 34mm and 38mm (leading to trailing), for more even pad pressure for improved pad wear. These brakes will not fit under base Stingray or Z51 wheels. They require a minimum of 4mm wheel clearance between the outboard face of the caliper and the inner wheel spokes.
Corvette Stingray Z51 Brake Kit
Designed as an upgrade for the standard Stingray, this Z51 brake complete kit – front and rear – features slotted rotors measuring 13.6 inches (345mm) in front and 13.3 inches (338mm) in the rear. This increases the overall diameter in relation to the standard 12.6-in. (321mm) front rotors. Coupled with the new Z06/Z51 Brake Cooling Kit, this system will match the braking performance of the factory Z51 brake system.
Corvette Z06/Z51 Front Brake Cooling Kit
This kit includes brake ducts and deflectors that channel air from the front grille through the wheel wells to cool the front brakes and expel heat. On a standard Corvette Stingray, it increases airflow by 16 percent, enhancing stopping performance by reducing temperature and the chance for brake fade. For optimal performance, it should be used with the Z51 Brake Package and the Z06 Grille Kit.
Corvette Stingray T1 Suspension*
This suspension package was developed to improve the on-track handling capabilities of the Corvette Stingray, including Z51-equipped models. It includes more aggressive shocks, stiffer stabilizer bars and new lower control arms with stiffer bushings. It was developed for racing and the aggressive shocks were utilized to maintain eligibility to compete within the rules of most club racing sanctioning bodies. It is currently homologated in SCCA’s Touring 1 class.
Corvette Stingray Track Day concept
Chevrolet is showcasing the new parts portfolio on the Z51-based Stingray Track Day concept vehicle, which is on display this week at the SEMA Show, in Las Vegas.
In addition to the new performance parts, the Gloss Black concept includes a unique air extractor hood with red accents on hood vent grille, mirrors and rear spoiler. Additional visual distinction comes from Carbon Flash vents and rocker extensions, along with a carbon fiber roof panel, front fascia extension and door inserts. It also features edge-lit LED turn signals.
Inside, the black cabin is outfitted with the Competition Sport seats that are optional on the Stingray, along with suede inserts on the shifter and steering wheel. A rear crossbar was added for mounting a five-point harness, while the available Performance Data Recorder captures the car’s performance.
Performance is driven by the standard LT1 6.2L V-8, rated at 460 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque with the available exhaust system, and backed by a seven-speed manual transmission with Active Rev Match.”
Acura Showcases Passion for Performance at 2015 SEMA Show
Highlights include restored 1993 “Ludacris Legend”, a sport-modified 2016 Acura ILX Sports Sedan, next-generation Acura NSX supercar and 2016 ILX with Acura Genuine Accessory package
LAS VEGAS, NV. (Nov. 3, 2015) – Acura today thrilled the 2015 SEMA Show with multiple innovative expressions of the brand’s performance-crafted DNA – past, present and future – including the debut of the meticulously restored 1993 “Ludacris Legend” sedan, a sport-modified 2016 Acura ILX by Galpin Auto Sports, and the next-generation Acura NSX supercar, slated for its U.S. launch next spring.
The Acura exhibit also features a 2016 Acura ILX with the Acura Genuine Accessory Package in Slate Silver Metallic.
“We’ve got some really wonderful, challenging and maybe even a few crazy dreams for the future of Acura, and I think SEMA can serve as a great platform for us to explore some of these ideas,” said Jon Ikeda, vice president and general manager of Acura. “SEMA is a place where people from all corners of the car business can come together and share their vision of personalization and performance. Celebrating the loyalty of Acura owners and their passion for the brand as embodied by multi-platinum selling, GRAMMY® award-winning artist and actor, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Acura unveiled the restored, yet uniquely customized 1993 Acura “Ludacris Legend.” The 1993 Legend sedan is featured on his ninth studio album, LUDAVERSAL, has undergone a complete ground-up restoration ideated by Acura’s Torrance-based Design Studio and guided by Acura global creative director, Dave Marek.
“Besides being a really cool project for our team, this is a great way to express Acura’s passion for performance,” said Marek. “Acura has incredibly loyal customers, and this has been a unique opportunity to celebrate their passion and affinity for Acura, and that same love for the brand that Ludacris has showed over the past dozen years”.
The restoration – which took approximately two months to complete – turns back the clock on Ludacris’ beloved Legend sedan, bringing back its original factory luster, inside and out, with minor modifications that include: upsized, 18-inch Rays wheels wrapped around Bridgestone Potenza High-Performance 215/40R/18 tires plus custom high-performance 6-piston front caliper and 4-piston rear caliper brakes. To bring new life to the Legend while retaining the original aesthetic, Acura Design developed a custom Warm Cashmere with Ice Pearl paint scheme. The installed Pioneer AVIC 8/ONEX sound system was upgraded to provide audio aficionado sound quality by integrating Apple CarPlay® and by adding two Alpine Type-12 subwoofer speakers in the trunk with custom Acura badging. The restored Legend was lowered by two-inches with H&R springs and Eibach camber kit. Additionally frame, body and chassis work was completed to ensure the Legend continues to be an enjoyable driver for years to come.
“Seeing the car that has been such a big part of my life brought back to beyond its original condition was a real gift”, said Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges. “The Legend is back and better than ever and I have my friends at Acura to thank for that.”

Galpin 2016 Acura ILX
Complementing the “Ludacris Legend” is the 2016 Acura ILX sedan by Galpin Auto Sports, a sporty, youthful and street-ready take on Acura’s gateway sports sedan, which will be donated at the conclusion of the SEMA conference to the Ludacris Foundation (www.facebook.com/LudaKids) to a “Legend” in the community. The Ludacris Foundation, named as one of the top twenty “Leading Philanthropy Foundations” by Black Enterprise Magazine, inspires youth through education and memorable experiences to live their dreams by uplifting families, communities and fostering economic development.
The Acura ILX by Galpin unveiled at SEMA 2015 is based on the luxury brand’s gateway sedan, which received a major freshening for the 2016 model year, including a new 200-horsepower, 2.4-liter direct-injected i-VTEC engine and 8-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT). The Galpin ILX is heavily modified and features custom body work including a new front bumper with accent front splitter, custom rear diffuser with JDM Fog Light plus custom exhaust exit with rear spoiler. Additionally, suspension modifications were made with RS-R Sports*i coilvers and a Borla exhaust with custom dual tips. The ILX is outfitted in 19 x 8.5-inch AVI wheels in a sinister Matte Brushed Smoked finished wrapped around Pirelli 245/30/19P Zero Run Flat Tires accentuated with black brakes. To create a visual tie with the Ludacris Legend, the ILX is painted in a Sunburst Yellow with Shark Gray accents using a three stage candy paint process. The color scheme is also is carried through to the interior with added gold contrast stitching throughout along with Katzkin perforated Barracuda leather inserts.
Acura NSX in Nouvelle Blue Pearl
The Ludacris Acura Legend and modified Acura ILX by Galpin Auto Sports are joined by a next-generation NSX with Nouvelle Blue Pearl paint scheme, the color that debuted at SEMA 2014 on the highly modified Galpin TLX and one of eight colors that will launch with the arrival of the new NSX supercar next spring. The NSX is the first and only supercar manufactured in America with global development led by a U.S. R&D team. The new NSX will utilize its three-motor Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive™ power unit and innovative approaches to vehicle design to deliver a completely new supercar experience.
At the heart of its next-generation supercar capabilities is the NSX’s Sport Hybrid power unit, with three electric motors and a bespoke twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter DOHC V-6 engine, producing peak output of 573 horsepower and 550 lb.-ft. of torque and utilizing the instantaneous torque delivery of its electric motors to enhance every element of the supercar’s dynamic performance – acceleration, braking and uniquely turning via dynamic and continuous electric motor torque vectoring.
