Ferrari enthusiast’s winning bid helps earthquake victims

Monza, 8 September – A special ceremony took place this afternoon in Monza, when a 599 XX Evo was driven into the paddock. It’s the car that Ferrari had put up for auction to raise funds for the families who were victims of the earthquake that hit the Emilia Romagna region back in May. The car was the star attraction among the many items put up for the auction organised on a global basis by the Maranello company. It has several features included especially for this event and it went to Benjamin Sloss who made the generous winning bid of 1.4 million Euros.

Handing over the keys to its new Californian owner who was here with his wife Christine, was Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo, along with the Scuderia drivers, Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa. Sloss got an additional souvenir in the shape of a photo taken outside the team motorhome, alongside the Ferrari men. He was thrilled with the event and said he was extremely happy to have contributed to this cause, which he decided to support as soon as he heard what had happened in Italy, in the hope of helping with the reconstruction plans.
