Όπως γνωρίζουμε, η Mercedes θα συμμετάσχει με 8 οδηγούς στο προσεχές πρωτάθλημα του DTM και ο Maximilian Götz θα είναι η νέα προσθήκη στην ομάδα των οδηγών της εταιρείας από τη Στουτγάρδη. Αν παρακολουθείς το πρωτάθλημα Blancpain Sprint Series, ξέρεις ότι ο Götz είναι ο πρωταθλητής του 2014 με την SLS AMG GT3. Μετά από 4 πετυχημένα χρόνια με τη “Γλαρόφτερη” στο πρόγραμμα της AMG για τους νέους οδηγούς, θα συμμετάσχει στο κορυφαίο Πρωτάθλημα Τουρισμού του κόσμου. Εντούτοις, ο Γερμανός και ο πρωταθλητής του 2005 Gary Paffett είναι οι δύο μόλις οδηγοί έως τώρα που έχουν επίσημα ανακοινωθεί από τη Mercedes ότι θα αγωνίζονται στο πρωτάθλημα του 2015 με την εταιρεία. Μένουμε λοιπόν να μάθουμε στο χρονικό διάστημα μέχρι το πρώτο επίσημο τεστ δοκιμών τους υπόλοιπους 6 οδηγούς που θα πλαισιώνουν τους δύο προαναφερθέντες.
Ο 28-χρονος έχει προηγούμενη εμπειρία από τα αγωνιστικά του DTM, καθώς συμμετείχε σε δοκιμές με τη Mercedes στο Lausitzring το Σεπτέμβρη του 2013, ως επιβράβευση των επιτυχιών που είχε με την SLS AMG GT3. Επίσης, έλαβε μέρος στα πρόσφατα τεστ δοκιμών της γερμανικής εταιρείας στη Jerez στην Ισπανία με το αγωνιστικό του 2014. Μεταξύ του 2011 και του 2014, ο Maximilian συμμετείχε σε 82 αγώνες, κατακτώντας στο διάστημα αυτό 10 νίκες, τερμάτισε 32 φορές στην πρώτη τριάδα και 60 στην πρώτη δεκάδα, πάντα με την SLS AMG GT3. Highlights στο παλμαρές του ήταν η νίκη στον 24ωρο αγώνα του Spa-Francochamps και αυτή στα 1000χλμ του Nürburgring, αλλά και η ανάδειξη του σε πρωταθλητή το 2012 στο ADAC GT Masters. O ίδιος δήλωσε χαρακτηριστικά μετά την ανακοίνωση της συμμετοχής του στο DTM:
Δεν πρόκειται να ξεχάσω τη στιγμή που έμαθα ότι θα αγωνίζομαι στο προσεχές πρωτάθλημα του DTM!Είναι απίστευτο to συναίσθημα να γνωρίζω ότι η επιτυχία μου στο πρόγραμμα οδηγών της AMG εξαργυρώνεται με τη συμμετοχή μου αυτή και ότι κέρδισα την προσοχή των υπευθύνων του αγωνιστικού τμήματος της Mercedes. Εκπληρώθηκε ένα όνειρο, θα κάνω τα πάντα να έχω μια πετυχημένη χρονιά, αλλά γνωρίζω πολύ καλά ότι πρώτα πρέπει να μάθω μερικά πράγματα.

H άνοδος του στην ομάδα μας για το Γερμανικό Πρωτάθλημα Τουρισμού αποδεικνύει τις προοπτικές που μπορούν να έχουν οι νέοι οδηγοί στο πρόγραμμα οδηγών της εταιρείας μας, αφού η Mercedes προωθεί εδώ και πολλά χρόνια ταλέντα στο χώρο του μηχανοκίνητου αθλητισμού και το πρόγραμμα της AMG είναι άλλη μια ευκαιρία να υποστηρίζουμε τους νέους οδηγούς παράλληλα με τη συμμετοχή μας στη Formula 3.

C 63 DTM - Maximilian Götz: “It’s a mega feeling to join the DTM”
Stuttgart – Reigning Blancpain Sprint Series champion Maximilian Götz (28, Germany) will strengthen the squad of Mercedes-Benz drivers in the DTM for the 2015 season. Götz will swap the racing gullwing for the Mercedes-AMG C63 DTM after four successful years in AMG’s Customer Sports Programme.
The 28-year-old already has previous experience of a DTM car after completing a test in a DTM Mercedes AMG C-Class at the Lausitzring in September 2013 as a reward for his success with the SLS AMG GT3. He made his debut in the Mercedes-AMG C63 DTM during testing in Jerez de la Frontera last December, 2014.
Götz contested 82 races in the SLS AMG GT3 between 2011 and 2014, securing ten wins, 32 podiums and 60 top-ten finishes in total. He clinched the 2014 Blancpain Sprint Series championship title in the SLS AMG GT3. The previous year, 2013, Götz won the 24-hour race at Spa-Francorchamps and the 1,000 km race at the Nürburgring. He won the ADAC GT Masters championship in 2012.
Mercedes-Benz has a long tradition of developing young racing talent. During their time in Formula 3, a number of drivers, including reigning Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton (MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS), four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel and the youngest winner of a race in DTM history, Pascal Wehrlein, all utilised Mercedes-Benz engines. New opportunities for nurturing young drivers in a systematic manner have now opened up in the AMG Customer Sports Programme since its successful introduction.
Maximilian Götz: “The moment when I first found out that I will be racing in the DTM in 2015 will stay with me for a very long time. It’s a mega feeling to know that the success I achieved with different teams over the years during my time with the AMG Customer Sports Programme was being closely monitored by the racing bosses at Mercedes‑Benz. It also shows that customer sport has top-class drivers and can be a great springboard to bigger things. It’s a little bit like a dream come true. I will be doing everything I can to achieve success in the DTM but am also aware that I have a lot to learn this season. I’m now looking forward to the first tests and to working with my new team. Everything else will then follow on from Hockenheim.”
