H Volkswagen παρουσίασε σήμερα την πεντάθυρη έκδοση του up!, το οποίο βασίζεται πάνω στο Cross up! που είδαμε τον περασμένο Σεπτέμβριο στη Φρανκφούρτη. Η πεντάθυρη έκδοση φορά τους ίδιους κινητήρες και έχει ίδιες διαστάσεις με την τρίπορτη έκδοση. Η προσθήκη των πίσω πορτών, κάνει την πρόσβαση στους πίσω επιβάτες ευκολότερη. Έχει μήκος 3.54 μέτρα, πλάτος 1.64 μέτρα, ύψος 1.48 μέτρα και 2.42 μέτρα μεταξόνιο. Ο χώρος αποσκευών αγγίζει τα 251 λίτρα ενώ μετά την την αναδίπλωση των πίσω καθισμάτων αυτός ανέρχεται στα 951 λίτρα. Σύμφωνα με τη VW, το up! μπορεί να μεταφέρει με άνεση και ασφάλεια τέσσερις ενήλικες και στο εσωτερικό ξεχωρίζει το σύστημα πλοήγησης το οποίο μετατρέπεται σε ένα φορητό PID (Personal Infotainment Device). Το PID βρίσκεται στην κεντρική κονσόλα και μπορεί να χρησιμοποιηθεί ως σύστημα πλοήγησης, ως τηλέφωνο, ως σύστημα ψυχαγωγίας αλλά και ενημέρωσης. To εσωτερικό του θα είναι διαθέσιμο σε 5 χρώματα.
Το Volkswagen up! φορά με μια νέα γενιά τρικύλινδρων κινητήρων βενζίνης 1.000 cc απόδοσης 60 και 75 ίππων. Ο μέσος όρος εκπομπών CO2 ανέρχεται στα 105 γρ/χλμ για τον κινητήρα με τα 60 άλογα και 108 γρ/χλμ για τον κινητήρα με τα 75 άλογα και έχουν μέση κατανάλωση 4.2 λίτρων/100 χλμ αντίστοιχα και 4.3 λίτρων/100 χλμ αντίστοιχα.
Επιπλέον υπάρχει και η έκδοση BlueMotion η οποία διαθέτει σύστημα Start/Stop, σύστημα ανάκτησης ενέργειας κατά το φρενάρισμα κάνοντας το αυτοκίνητο να έχει μέση κατανάλωση 3.2 λίτρων/100 χλμ και εκπομπές CO2 μόλις 79 γρ/χλμ, τις μικρότερες εκπομπές συμβατικού αυτοκινήτου στην αγορά. Η ηλεκτρική του έκδοση θα παρουσιαστεί μέσα στο 2013. Για όποιον το επιθυμεί υπάρχει και έκδοση με φυσικό αέριο η οποία αποδίδει 68 άλογα, έχει μέση κατανάλωση 3.8 κιλά/100 χλμ και εκπέμπει μόλις 86 γρ/χλμ CO2.
Για πρώτη φορά αυτοκίνητο της κατηγορίας διαθέτει αυτόματο σύστημα φρεναρίσματος πόλης (City Emergency Braking στον επιπλέον εξοπλισμό). Το σύστημα σκανάρει τον δρόμο μέσω λέιζερ και “προβλέπει” καταστάσεις ατυχήματος ενεργοποιώντας αυτόματα τα φρένα. Λειτουργεί σε ταχύτητες έως 30 χλμ/ώρα και είναι παρόμοιο με αυτό που χρησιμοποιούν το νέο Ford Focus και Volvo S60 (του οποίο λειτουργεί και σε μεγαλύτερες ταχύτητες).
Οι παραγγελίες θα ξεκινήσουν από τις 6 Μαρτίου με τις πρώτες παραδώσεις να γίνονται τον Μάιο στη Γερμανία. Στην υπόλοιπη Ευρώπη θα είναι διαθέσιμο λίγο αργότερα και στην Γερμανία έχει αρχική τιμή 10.325 ευρώ, 475 ευρώ περισσότερα από την 3-θυρη έκδοση.
Τέλος η Volkswagen ανακοίνωσε ότι το διαφανές εργοστάσιο της στη Δρέσδη το 2011, κατασκεύασε 50$ περισσότερα Phaeton από όσα είχε κατασκευάσει το 2010. Συνολικά περισσότερα από 11.000 λιμουζίνες κατασκευάστηκαν στο εργοστάσιο της Δρέσδης ενώ περίπου 145.000 άνθρωποι ήταν αυτοί που επισκέφτηκαν να δούνε το εργοστάσιο, 33% περισσότεροι από το 2010. Επίσης περισσότεροι από 2.000 άνθρωποι πήγαν οι ίδιοι στο εργοστάσιο ώστε να παραλάβουν από εκεί το αυτοκίνητο τους (Phaeton, Touareg και CC), 80% περισσότεροι από το 2010. The New Small Family is growing: four-door up! arrives on market early this year
Price is only 475 euros higher than that of the two-door
Wolfsburg, 23 January 2012 – All signs point to a big future for the small up!. In Germany, the two-door city specialist immediately garnered first place in its class in registration statistics. Now Volkswagen is raising the bar by presenting the four-door version of the up!. In May, the latest member of the New Small Family – Volkswagen’s internal name for the model series – will arrive at dealers; advanced sales begin on the 6th of March (both dates for Germany). The four-door car will have launched on the entire European market by early summer.
Volkswagen anticipates that over half of all up! buyers will choose the four-door version. This version has identical engines (44 kW / 60 PS and 55 kW / 75 PS), equipment versions (take up!, move up!, high up!, black up!, white up!) and dimensions as the two-door cars. The four-door up! will be available in Germany at prices from 10,325 euros, including ESP – compared to the two-door, this represents an additional price of just 475 euros.
Lots of doors, and lots behind them!
With four doors, the look of the car’s side profile has changed. While the lower window line of the two-door rises towards the rear near the C-pillars, it forms a straight line on the four-door car. This gives the new body version a high level of independence. The crisp and short body overhangs are also distinctive on the four-door. The front and rear sections are identical in both body versions. This also means that buyers of the four-door version will get to enjoy a bootlid whose outer skin consists of a continuous glass surface; this gives the bootlid the high-tech and high-end look of a smartphone. Located behind the bootlid is a boot with a 251 litre cargo capacity, which can be extended to up to 951 litres by folding down the rear backrest.
Comfortable driving with four persons!
The rear doors open wide and offer comfortable entry. The four-seat, four-door car offers the same good interior spaciousness as the two-door, which is remarkable given the vehicle’s size. Headroom in the rear is 947 mm, while it is 993 mm in front. Legroom in the second row is a comfortable 789 mm. The seat height in the rear has a pleasant effect: the height of the so-called H-point – the relevant vertex of the angle formed by the seat surface and the backrest – is 378 mm in the rear, which is higher than in front (306 mm). This higher seat position lets rear passengers see better over the shoulders of the driver and front passenger. Just as important: there is plenty of space under the front seats for the feet of the rear passengers.
Ingenious systems for greater safety and convenience!
Volkswagen is offering the same optional features in both the two-door and four-door up!. They include systems such as City Emergency Braking. The up! is the first car in its class that can be automatically braked by such a function in a tight situation, in this case over a speed range from 5 to 30 km/h. Also available upon request is maps+more – a portable navigation and infotainment system with touchscreen. It contains a navigation system, a hands-free telephone unit, an informational display of various vehicle parameters and a media player. In addition, apps can be used to customise maps+more to personal requirements. With these features, the up! – as a two-door and four-door car – is clearly one of the most advanced small cars on the market.
Transparent Factory: production record in 2011
- 50 percent more Phaeton produced than 2010

Dresden, 20 January 2012 – Transparent Factory achieved a new production record in its anniversary year: more than 11,000 Phaeton were produced in 2011. This corresponds to an increase of 50 percent compared to the previous year. The number of visitors also continued to increase: approximately 145,000 visitors came to to the Transparent Factory which is approximately one third more than 2010. The one millionth visitor was welcomed in July 2011.
Alongside production, Transparent Factory also increased the number of Phaeton, Touareg and CC delivered directly at the factory. Nearly 2,000 customers came to Dresden in 2011 – 80 percent more than the previous year.
“Our team has, together with all suppliers, made possible a wonderful present for the anniversary of the factory” said Hans-Joachim Rothenpieler in praise of his staff. The spokesperson for the management of Volkswagen Sachsen GmbH is confident: “We will maintain this high level in 2012”.
Transparent Factory also achieved a high level as a training centre in 2011. Sebastian Hein was recognised as one of the best apprentices in the Volkswagen Group worldwide. The trainee vehicle mechatronic was awarded with the “Best Apprentice Award” in November for his excellent work. He had previously already received an award as the best vehicle mechatronics apprentice in the free state of Saxony.
