Ρολόι και αυτοκίνητο πάνε μαζί και δεν είναι λίγες οι φορές που έχουμε γράψει για ρολόγια που τράβηξαν το ενδιαφέρον μας. Αυτή τη φορά όμως γράφουμε για κάτι διαφορετικό αφού πρόκειται για ένα ρολόι με τιμή προσιτή στους λάτρες της αυτοκίνησης που δε διαθέτουν συλλογή από supercars και τραπεζικούς λογαριασμούς με πολλά μηδενικά στο τέλος.
Ο λόγος για το νέο μοντέλο της Straton που ακούει στο όνομα Curve-Chrono Meca-Quartz VK64, και αυτή τη στιγμή βρίσκεται στο kickstarter αναζητώντας τους πρώτους τυχερούς που θα το αποκτήσουν. Μετά την επιτυχία της προηγούμενης καμπάνιας της εταιρίας για το Vintage Driver Chrono που κάποιοι από εμάς καταφέραμε να αποκτήσουμε πέρυσι σε τιμή που δε φαντάζεσαι ότι μπορεί να αντιστοιχεί σε ελβετικό ρολόι, ο Kyle, ο ιδρυτής της εταιρίας που είναι λάτρης του αυτοκινήτου όπως και εμείς, επανήλθε με αυτό το νέο μοντέλο.
Σε περίπτωση που δε θυμάσαι το Vintage Driver Chrono, πρόκειται για ένα ρολόι που κατασκευάστηκε για ιδιοκτήτες sport αυτοκινήτων, σε πέντε πανέμορφες εκδόσεις που έκαναν δύσκολη την επιλογή του αγοραστή και συνοδευόταν από μια πανέμορφη δερμάτινη θήκη για τα ταξίδια και τρία λουράκια που του έδιναν το sport χαρακτήρα που του αναλογεί. Το νέο μοντέλο δεν έχει τίποτα να ζηλέψει από το προκάτοχό του, καθώς είναι ακόμη πιο όμορφο, έρχεται στην ίδια δερμάτινη θήκη για τα ταξίδια και συνοδεύεται επίσης από τρία sport λουράκια.
Το μοναδικό πρόβλημα και πάλι είναι ότι έρχεται σε πέντε εκδόσεις και κάνει τραγικά δύσκολη την απόφασή σου για το ποιο να επιλέξεις -αν σκέφτεσαι να πάρεις μόνο ένα φυσικά αφού φαντάζομαι πολλοί παίρνουν πάνω από ένα σε διαφορετικά χρώματα για να ταιριάζει με το αυτοκίνητο ή τα γάντια τους, αλλά μάλλον εσύ κι εγώ δεν είμαστε από αυτούς…
Και μιας και αναφέρθηκα στα γάντια, των οποίων δεν μπορώ να κρύψω ότι είμαι λάτρης προσωπικά αφού δίνουν ένα πραγματικά old-school style στον οδηγό μιας κλασσικής καλλονής, ο Kyle σχεδίασε και ετοίμασε μία σειρά από γάντια οδήγησης, σε 7 διαφορετικά χρώματα, πέντε νούμερα για άντρες και τρία για γυναίκες.
Και φυσικά είναι δερμάτινα με το κλασικό sport στιλ που αναζητά ο υποψήφιος αγοραστής, αλλά με το ίδιο μεγάλο πρόβλημα του ποιο να πρωτοδιαλέξεις – σίγουρα αυτό που ταιριάζει με το ρολόι φυσικά, ή και με το αμάξι, ή και με τα δύο… βλέπεις το πρόβλημα;
Η καμπάνια της Straton στο kickstarter ήδη έχει ξεπεράσει στο δεκαπλάσιο το στόχο και θα είναι ανοιχτή για δύο ακόμα εβδομάδες. Η τιμή είναι πραγματικά ότι πιο προσιτό έχουμε συναντήσει. Μια φιλική συμβουλή βασισμένη στην εμπειρία μας -αφού αυτό κάναμε κι εμείς πέρυσι: βρες φίλους σου που το θέλουν και αυτοί και πάρτε μαζί το σετ με τα δύο ή τα τρία ρολόγια (και γάντια) αφού η τελική τιμή είναι πολύ καλύτερη και συμφέρει ακόμα περισσότερο αφού γλυτώνετε και τα έξοδα αποστολής, και θα μπορείτε να ανταλλάζεται και μεταξύ σας λουράκια και ρολόγια, οπότε σου λύνει και το μεγάλο πρόβλημα της επιλογής.

Curve-Chrono Watch and Genuine Leather Driving Gloves

Zurich, SWITZERLAND April 5th, 2016 – The Curve-Chrono is Straton Watch Company’s newest addition to its array of Automotive inspired wrist wear, it’s a celebration of the historic racing period of the 1970’s as well as paying homage to the chronograph watches of this era. The name Curve-Chrono was chosen as “Curve” in Italian means “curves, bends or corners”. One particular race held over the decades leading up to and during the 1970’s was the Targa Florio, a road race held in Italy’s Sicilian mountains. The original Targa Florio circuit called the “Grande” consisted of approximately 2000 corners in one lap covering 148km, later the circuit was reduced to the “Piccolo” circuit which consisted of around 900 corners in one lap and covering 72km. If we compare this to the Nordschleife/Nürburgring circuit in Germany which is mammoth in size by present standards consists of 73 corners with a length of 20.8km it puts into perspective the sheer size and endurance drivers faced while racing. The race was later discontinued in 1977 due to safety concerns. Porsche being the manufacturer with the most celebrated victories at the Targa Florio led them to name their 911 Targa road car the “Targa”. Although the original Targa Florio race has been discontinued it celebrates its 110th Anniversary in 2016 and takes the form of a road rally.
The Curve-Chrono watch comes in five variations. Included with each purchase of a watch is its standard strap as well as a choice of two out of seven different racing inspired striped straps. A choice of two case sizes, two movements and two case back designs, a vintage brown travel case and 2 year guarantee.

The Curve-Chrono with its meca-quartz movement will have a pre-order price on Kickstarter starting from around $279, once the Kickstarter has ended prices will jump up to its retail price of $499. The Automatic movement limited 110 piece edition of the Curve-Chrono will start from around $679 on Kickstarter, if not all 110 are sold the retail price will be $999. The driving gloves will have a pre-order price of around $89 a pair on Kickstarter and a end retail price of $149. With these prices in mind it’s best to place an order while on Kickstarter to get the best deal possible.
